The Lord has called me to serve and share my life with Saint Joseph’s parishioners and to jointly, walk side‐side in a spiritual journey. I am humble by the opportunity to join Saint Joseph’s Faith Formation Program as the Director of Religious Education. Serving God in this new capacity allows me to touch many people’s lives, build strong relationships and help build the reign of God through stewardship.  About me, I come from a small family father, mother, two sisters, two lovely nephews and a dog.  My parents migrated from Mexico when I was only a few months old.  I grew‐up in Chicago, attend both Catholic and Public school, graduated from high school and went off to college.  I am the first in my fam‐ily to graduate from college. After high school, I went to Loyola University where I studied music, phi‐losophy, and theology. I completed my bachelors is in organizational management an area of study at North Park University also, I have a M.A. in community development and planning.  My minor degrees are in Early Child Development and Music from the City of Chicago Community College.   In June of 2012, I completed a Masters of Education in Curriculum Instruction and Education Leadership with a type 75 certification at DePaul University.  Presently, I attend Catholic Theological Union in pursue of a Masters in Divinity with a concentration in spirituality and ethics.  My work with different multicultural communities in Chicago has granted me an understanding and sensitivity to people who share different worldviews.  I have worked in multiple capacities such as director of after school programs, director of a shelter for homeless men, music director, social worker, and teacher.  I hope to inspire others, con‐tinue to build on the quality of the Children’s Formation Program and serve the children and their fami‐lies to the best of my ability.   In Christ,  Carlos A. Roman     El Señor me ha llamado a servir y compartir mi vida con los feligreses de San José y de manera conjunta, caminar lado a lado en un viaje espiritual.  Soy humilde por la oportunidad de unirme al Programa de Formación de Fe de San José de como el Director  de Educación Religiosa.  Servir a Dios en esta nueva capacidad me permite tocar las vidas de muchas personas, construir relaciones fuertes y ayudar a cons‐truir el reino de Dios a través de la corresponsabilidad. En cuanto a mí, yo vengo de una familia pequeña padre, madre, dos hermanas, dos sobrinos preciosos y un perro. Mis padres emigraron desde México cuando yo tenía sólo unos meses de edad. ‐Crecí en Chicago, asistí a escuelas católicas y públicas, me gradué de la escuela secundaria y fui a la universidad. Yo soy el primero de mi familia en graduarse de la universidad. Después de la secundaria, fui a la Universidad de Loyola, donde estudié música, filosofía y teología. Terminé mi licenciatura en gestión organizacional está es una área de estudio en la Universi‐dad North Park también, tengo una maestría en el desarrollo comunitario y la planificación. Mis títulos son menores en Desarrollo Infantil Temprano y Música de la Ciudad de Chicago de Colegió Comunitario. En junio de 2012, terminé una Maestría en Educación en Currículo e Instrucción de Liderazgo en Educa‐ción con un tipo de 75 certificación de la Universidad De Paul. Actualmente, asisto a la Unión Teológica Católica de perseguir una Maestría en Divinidad con una concentración en la espiritualidad y la ética. Mi trabajo con las diferentes comunidades multiculturales en Chicago me ha dado una comprensión y sen‐sibilidad hacia las personas que comparten visiones del mundo diferentes. He trabajado en múltiples capacidades como director de los programas después de la escuela, de director de un albergue para hombres sin hogar, director musical, asistente social y docente. Espero inspirar a otros, a seguir cons‐truyendo sobre la calidad del Programa de Formación de Fe de los Niños y servir a los niños y sus fami‐lias a lo mejor de mi capacidad.

Actualización del Techo Se a elegido al Contratista para el nuevo techo de la iglesia. La diócesis tiene que aprobar sus propuestas. Una vez que hayan sido aprobadas, se les dará la informa-ción adicional.

Roof Update Contractors have been chosen for the replace-ment of the church roof. The diocese has to approve their proposals. Once they have been approved, addi-tional information will be given. Under One New Roof Raffle Tickets are $5 each or five tickets for $20. First prize is a Samsung 40” LED Television. Other prizes include an Apple IPAD Mini, a 12 piece Calpha-lon cookware set, a Keurig Coffeemaker and a certifi-cate for a set of four tires ($400 value).

Coordinator of Justice and Peace Office of Human Dignity

The Diocese of Joliet's Office of Human Dignity is seeking a part-time un-benefited Coordinator of Justice and Peace. The Coordinator leads the of-fice in assisting Catholics of the Joliet Diocese in knowing their faith and addressing such issues as poverty, faithful citizenship, human rights, immi-gration reform, domestic policy, peace, and care for Creation. Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with a Masters Degree in Theology, Pas-toral Ministry, or related field with a knowledge of the social doctrine of the Church. MEET A SEMINARIAN –MATTHEW MALICKI  

When Matthew Malicki, whose home parish is Maternity BVM in Kankakee,  graduated from high school in 2005, he took a year off to work and to spend time discerning his vocation. After  he tried to enter the seminary for the Diocese in 2006,  and was told “Wait”, Matthew attended  Kanaekee  Community College for a year and then Fran‐ciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio the next year.  

After talking with Fr Burke Masters, our Diocesan Voca‐tion Director, Matthew entered St John Vianney Seminary and graduated from there in May, 2011. This past year, Matthew was on a pastoral internship and tells us that he had. “the privileges of living at 2 wonderful parishes ‐St Jude’s in Joliet and St Joseph’s in Downers Grove. He just finished a summer of Clinical Pastoral Education, a hospi‐tal chaplaincy training program and this year is a 1st Year Theology student at Mundelein Seminary.

Children’s Christmas Choir Coro Navideño de Niños

Join us in celebrating Christmas with joy-ful music and songs. We invite all children to join Saint Joseph Children’s Christmas Choir grades 3 through high school.
