Fifth Sunday of Easter — May 19, 2019

It’s been nearly a month since East-er Sunday, but there’s a reason that we celebrate this event for so long. The Resurrection changes every-thing. A whole new world has been opened up to us. No wonder God says, “Behold, I make all things new” in the vision from Revelation that we hear today. As we cele-brate this liturgy today, let us thank and praise God for all the ways in which our lives have been made new.

Our Sunday offering for the weekend of May 12, 2019 was $13,685. Thank you for your generous offerings.

Today’s readings can be found at #837 in the Glory & Praise books - Fifth Sunday of Easter, Year C.

Do you want to share your love of our Catholic faith with the next generation? We are cur-rently looking for catechists for our Faith For-mation and RCIA Adapted for Children pro-grams for the upcoming year. If you’re inter-ested or if you’d like more information, please contact Jerome Baybayan at je-

[email protected] or call the parish office.

The next series of Pre-Cana marriage preparation classes will begin on July 22. This five-week series of classes facilitates dialogue and prayer prior to a couple’s wedding. The class satisfies the marriage preparation program requirement in the Diocese of Sacramento. The cost is $75. To register, please contact the parish office.

If you have not yet begun the process of planning your wedding through the parish office, please do so before signing up for the class. Keep in mind that this process should begin at least six months prior to your desired wed-ding date. Baptism certificates for the bride and groom issued within the last six months should be brought to the first appointment with the priest.

REFLECTION

Faith Formation registration is now open for the 2019-2020 school year. If your child needs to receive the sacra-ment of First Communion or Confirmation or if they’d like to continue to religious education between receiving these sacraments, sign up now! Registration forms are available in the narthex and in the parish office. Classes begin in September. For more information email Jerome at [email protected] or call the parish office.

The Adult Confirmation classes for this year will begin on June 12. Please join us for an 8-week course in preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation. Adults ages 18 and older are invited to partici-

pate in this class to prepare them for the Adult Confirma-tion Mass in November. Please come and register at the parish office. Contact Jerome for more details.

If you are an adult who would like to be baptized or enter into full communion with the Catholic Church, RCIA is the program for you. The next RCIA classes will begin on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, in preparation to receive the sacraments at the Easter Vigil in 2020. For more in-formation, contact the parish office.

Vacation Bible School (VBS) registration has been extended until May 28.

Don’t miss out on this fun program for chil-dren ages 5-12, which will take place June 24-29.

For details, call Phoebe Fernandez (628) 333-5831 or email [email protected] or visit us at www.stjv.org.

We are launching a new Spanish-language children’s choir. Children 6 years old and older are invited to come and praise the Lord through song. Rehearsals will be Fri-days at 6:30 pm in the church meeting room, and the group will periodically sing at the 5:00 Sunday Spanish Mass. For

more information, contact the parish office.
