Dear Parishioners,
This month we’ll have our communal reconciliation service. I along
with a couple of my brother priests will be here to offer our Lord’s
pardon for your sins on March 15th. What a wonderful act of love
by our merciful God demonstrated through the Church which he
established. I hope many of you can take advantage of this if you
haven’t already participated in the sacrament during Lent.
I recall the merciful words of our Lord as he spoke to the woman
with the alabaster jar. In the Gospel of Luke Jesus looks at the
woman and says, “Because of this, I tell you: many sins are forgiven
her, because she has loved much. But he who is forgiven less, loves
less. Then he said to her, ‘Your sins are forgiven you.’ Later Jesus
tells the woman, ‘Your faith has brought you salvation. Go in peace.’
Forgiveness and love do go hand in hand. Forgiveness is more than feeling contrite about the
wrong we have committed in the past. Forgiveness is intimately associated with one’s act of
conversion. As Jesus pointed out those who forgive less, love less. We can’t change what people
have done or what we have done but we can change how we look at it.
Forgiving people can be difficult because of the pain one feels and the lack of trust one has
toward others repeated offense. Thank God we have a Church where our Lord resides. The
practice of the faith will one day perfect the faith. Our Lord forgave us from the cross with
complete forgetfulness and love. It is difficult for us to forgive and forget. Reconciliation
perfects the heart and moves it towards the love that the woman experienced with our Lord.
May your faith bring you salvation so you can walk in peace.

Welcome to our newest member of the Knights of Columbus, Raymond Pascale! As Lent continues we ask
our Father for his presence during these 40 days to increase the love in our hearts and ask for his healing,
comfort, and love during this time of Lent.
The Knights of Columbus would like to help place a "stork bus" (a mobile ultrasound unit) and an additional
ultrasound machine in our community. The Hope Pregnancy Resource Center in Pine Bluff is chosen to the
recipient. Jefferson County has the 2nd highest rate of abortion in the state. This is not something to be proud
of. Please help us fund this crucial need to provide for the health of the mothers and the lives of their unborn
children. All donations are tax deductible - please see any Knight of Columbus to donate to this very worthy
cause. A receipt for your donation can be provided through the Knights of Columbus.

Excerpt from LENT, a poem by George Herbert:
It's true, we cannot reach Christ's forti'eth day;
Yet to go part of that religious way,
Is better than to rest:
We cannot reach our Saviour's purity;
Yet we are bid, 'Be holy ev'n as he,'
In both let's do our best.
Who goeth in the way which Christ hath gone,
Is much more sure to meet with him, than one
That travelleth by-ways;
Perhaps my God, though he be far before,
May turn and take me by the hand, and more;
May strengthen my decays.
