Dear Family in Christ, A most happy, joyous and blessed Easter to you and your loved ones!!! It may seem odd to be promoting celebration at this time when we can’t even celebrate Easter Sunday Mass in our churches, gathered together as God’s people in His Church. But isn’t the celebration, what Jesus came to offer in the midst of our sacrifices in life. As Jesus hung upon the Cross, the victory of the

Cross as we Catholics call it. As Jesus hung upon the Cross, he was also offering us the greatest symbol of hope in our lives. That the destructive nature of sin in our world does not get the final say, nor does sin’s emptiness erase the seal that God places upon our soul. In the waters of Baptism and through to Eternity. By the power and love of the Resurrection, Jesus Christ calls us to always bring hope. We may not have been able to physically be together, or to physically see and receive the Eucharist at this Easter. But let us remember the words of our Savior. “Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.” Let us continue to be believers, the practice our common priesthood, by watching and participating in the Mass upon media, praying the rosary as a family, reading and praying from the Scriptures. Let us not let the devil steal away our faithfulness through this challenging time. Our faith is certainly being tested. May we use this time to ensure our faithfulness ever more in the Lord’s promises, and never allow ourselves to be led astray. The devil counts on our giving up. May we continue to offer our prayers and love for one another, to continue to offer our faith for one another. And may this time of quarantine and sacrifice come to end, that we may fully appreciate all that has truly been given to us. Because He is risen!!! He is truly risen!!! May almighty God bless you, The Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Fr. Rosenbaum.

Dear Catholic Online Community and Catholic Online School students As the whole world continues through the difficult days associated with the effects of the COVID 19 or Coronavirus, and millions are unable to physically participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, I will have the honor of serving as Deacon to my Bishop, Bishop Joseph Strickland of the Catholic Diocese of Tyler, as he offers the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in private, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. The Holy Mass will be available online here:https://www.catholic.org/news/hf/faith/story.php?id=84647 Let us pray that the Lord, in His Mercy, reach out from heaven to heal those afflicted with the virus - and intervene by the Power of the Holy Spirit - to bring an end to its devastation. Let us pray for the Church – and for all of her clergy and faithful - that she would be a witness to the Power of Living Faith in Jesus Christ and share the Good News of Jesus Christ to a world steeped in fear and darkness. Let us pray for those in Civil leadership, that the Lord would give them the wisdom they need to make right decisions for the health, safety and welfare of people in every Nation. Let us pray for those in the scientific and medical community, that they would be inspired by the Lord to find a cure for this virus. Let us pray for one another.

Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,

In this most challenging of times, I am ever so grateful for your ongoing personal support and prayers. It is

moments such as these that give solid evidence of our Christian witness.

While we are very sensitive to pastoral needs, we are also called to address charitable and practical con-

cerns.

Could you be most attentive to your neighbor’s needs especially of the elderly or others who may be at

risk? Check on them. Help them as best you can. Call the Parish if we can be of assistance in any

way.

Some of our fellow parishioners may be in desperate straits financially. Please report these to us The par-

ish will respond through the St. Vincent de Paul Society or through an emergency fund which is es-

tablished for this purpose. You are welcome to contribute to this fund if you are able.

The Diocese of Joliet has also established such an emergency fund. Access to assistance is through the respective Pastor of the various parishes. In unusual circumstances, direct contact can be made to the Diocese through the Office of the Bishop at [email protected]. No question, we must come together in support of one another in prayer but also in

material assistance to the degree possible.

In addition to the foregoing, the financial commitments of the parish go on. We will do everything pos-

sible to continue to retain and support our parish and school employees. Could I ask you to cooperate with

the following insofar as possible?

Keep current on your parish commitment? I know this is not possible for some. Do not worry. As the same

time, there may be others who are in a position to contribute an additional sum to their ordinary gift.

Whatever the case, I am confident you will do the best you can.

Another very helpful method which I strongly encourage you to consider is “On-line” or “direct deposit”

giving. It is painless, very helpful to the parish and assists individuals such as myself who have a

temporary memory lapse occasionally in fulfilling my intended commitment.

[Insert instructions for your parish’s on-line giving options.]

Our religious education programs are being adapted in such a way that while the parish facilities are

closed during the time of the virus requirements, on-line learning by our catechists will go on in order

to assist our children to meet expectations to move on to the next grade level this coming fall. Please

keep in contact with the parish office and catechists for explanation.

Understanding that family situations may be difficult, it is asked that you keep as current as possible on

fees and other expenses. Your response at this time is very crucial.

DID Y0U KNOW

Dispensation, the relaxation of a law in a particular instance. Canon law foresees the possibility that in a given instance the observance of the law might not bring about those values the law seeks to serve. While maintaining the permanence of the law itself, the canonical system offers the possibility of exemption from its application. A dispensation requires a reason sufficient to the seriousness of the given law, together with permission given by the authority competent to make a dispensation from that law. Vatican II taught that diocesan bishops, because of their responsibility for the universal Church, are able to dispense from universal law. The Code of Canon Law acknowledges this. The law in question, however, must not be procedural or penal or reserved to another authority (can.85). In circumstances where communication with the Holy See is impossible the dispensing power of bishops is even broader. A bishop may also delegate another to perform some of his duties in this regard. Other officials in a diocese or in a religious institute also have power to dispense from some of their respective laws.
