Dear Parishioners, Fatima I haven’t watched it yet, but I’m looking forward to watching the new movie about Our Lady of Fati-ma. You can watch the movie from home. Visit: https://www.fatimathemovie.com/ Coronavirus I see this month of September as a great experi-ment. We’re trying to keep vulnerable people safe while opening up more activities for healthy people. It’ll be interesting to see how the numbers play out. COVIDActNow.org tracks new cases, infection rate, hospitalizations, ICU hospitalizations, deaths, and tracers. I also go to OCHD to get more local num-bers for Ocean County. What if numbers remain steady? We’ll still need to wear masks and maintain social distancing. But I could see more people choosing to return to Mass. Currently, we have six Masses running at 75% capac-ity. So, we have some room. We’re tracking Mass attendance better so that we can see trends. If we approach 100% capacity, we’ll need to adapt. I talked with the Pastoral Council briefly about having Mass outside or adding a 7th Mass. I’m reluctant to do either. Yet, we’ve got two goals. First, improve
access to Mass and the sacraments. Second, keep risk low. Social Unrest As bad as the pandemic is, I think the social un-rest in our country is a greater concern. By “social unrest” I mean the variety of evils that plague our society and are now being manifested in riots and malicious lies. I’ve been following trusted sources to under-stand what’s going on. I rely on EWTN, The National Catholic Register, Crisis Magazine, The Catholic Thing, and Aleteia. I would like to spend more time with Formed.org. Alas, there are more good sources of information available than I can keep up with. Here are a few short quotes to inspire us: 1 John 4:18— “...perfect love drives out fear…” Luke 10:21— “At that very moment {Jesus] rejoiced [in] the holy Spirit .... “ Psalm 46:11—”Be still and know that I am God! …” God love you, Fr. Jim [email protected]
