4 The Big Picture - Biblical Reflection Course On Mondays, resuming again on 14th May we will continue our new course delving into the Sacred Scriptures and how they touch our lives. So far those attending have had a very positive experience, some even sharing with the whole group the way this course has impacted their faith and their lives. An uplifting, informative, and encouraging opportunity is presented to us through The Big Picture”, an opportunity to deepen our faith, gain wisdom in regard to the Scriptures, and come together as a parish community. Later in the year, probably in October, we will begin another course, this time focussed on the Blessed Virgin Mary, and following a similar format to The Gift and The Big Picture, this course is entitled Let It Be and is produced by the same people: CaFE (Catholic Faith Education). I look forward to seeing you at the meetings and am sure that you will benefit greatly from the sessions provided. God bless you, Fr. Martin Please remember in your prayers all who are sick or suffering at this time, as well as those who care for them, may God grant them healing and strength, especially Irene Hughes, Ron Mackay, Susan Pletts, William Pletts and Christopher Peck. Please pray, too, for those who have died recently and those whose anniversaries occur around this time, especially: Penny Conroy, Pat Reay, Dan McCloy, Bill Foster, Pat Garrett, Catherine Doherty, Peter Reilly, Mary Graham, Natalie Lauren Oliphant, Jean ONeill, Edward Boyle, George and Elizabeth Burrowes, Grace Devine, and Mary Grace Fenech. Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis. Requiescant in pace. Gillian Shackleton who is currently working along with KYTHE is interested in establishing a Youth Group in St. Jamesto support our young people in their Faith, to encourage them to get together for social activities, and to help promote bonds between the young folk. A reading from the Acts of the Apostles 1,15-17.20a.20c.-26

We must choose someone who can act with us as a witness to his resurrection.

Psalm 102,1-2.11-12.19-20.R/v.19

Response: The Lord has set his sway in heaven.

A reading from the first letter of St. John 4,11-16

Anyone who lives in love lives in God, and God lives in him.

Alleluia, alleluia!

I will not leave you orphans, says the Lord;

I will come back to you,

and your hearts will be full of joy.

Alleluia!

A reading from the holy Gospel according to John 17:11-19

They may be one like us.

This Sunday’s readings from the Sacred Scriptures:

On Thursday 28th June, Vigil of Ss. Peter & Paul, Rev. Andrew Marshall will be ordained to the priesthood by his Lordship, Bishop Stephen Robson, in St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Dundee, at 7.00p.m. I attended Andrew’s ordination to the Diaconate last year, and would like to take a coach to the Cathedral for the ordination to show our support for the newest priest in our diocese. If anyone would like to come please sign up on the list at the back of the church. There will be a nominal charge (yet to be decided) for the trip. Meanwhile please keep Deacon Andrew in in your prayers as he prepares for the priesthood.

The St. Serfs Singers will be coming to the parish again to provide us with some more of their

wonderful musical entertainment. On Friday 1st June , beginning at 7.00p.m., we will have an evening with the St.

Serfs Singers combined with a Pot Luck Supper. Tickets will be available soon priced £10.00 each, as will a sign-up list for those bringing dishes for the Pot Luck Supper. Any donations given for the evening will help towards the costs of the

re-painting of St. James’ Church. All are very welcome to attend. Do come along for a wonderful evening of musical entertainment and something delicious to eat! I look forward to seeing you there. God bless, Fr. Martin

On Sunday 13th May, anniversary of the first apparition of Our Lady at Fatima, there will be a Marian Procession, crowning of the statue of Our Lady, act of

consecration and Rosary and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Dundee. Beginning at 2.30p.m., Bishop Robson will lead us in this Holy Hour dedicated to praying for families in the Diocese. From this initiative I soon

hope to have a pilgrim statue of Our Lady going around homes in the parish to encourage parishioners to come together on a regular basis and pray the Rosary for your families. Anyone interested in being involved in this should speak to me. Thanks, Fr. Martin
