CONFIRMATION IS COMING … On Sunday, April 7th it will again be that time of the year when 7th and 8th grade youths are invited to take part in the journey of Confirmation. Confirmation classes are a time of learning about faith, growing in faith, and then deciding how best to live one’s faith through the life of the church. We have five youths planning to participate, but it is not too late to join. Please contact Pastor Denise today if you would like to participate in classes which will be offered on Sunday morning at 9:00 AM in the Junior High Sunday school classroom. The confirmands are also excited about participating with other youths from around the Virginia Conference in a retreat weekend May 3-5, 2013 at Westview on the James, a United Methodist camp.

The Confirmation Leadership Teaching Team will include Buck Gibson, Cindy Hardy, Ann Platenkamp, and Pastor Denise. Each youth will be assigned an adult mentor or friend-in-faith. The youths and mentors will participate in a mission opportunity together, will talk together regularly about living as a faithful disciple, will participate in classes together, and will serve together in the life of the church. Confirmation Sunday will take place on June 9, 2013.

Please pray for our Confirmation students, their families, and for our leaders and mentors. What a joyful opportunity to grow together in faith!

NEWCOMER’S CLASS Pastor Denise is offering a newcomer’s class on Sunday, April 14, 2013 in the Wesley Room. Anyone new to the congregation and interested in knowing more about membership, please join us. Building Peace in East Belfast. Rev. Dr. Gary Mason is a Methodist clergyperson in Belfast, Ireland and serves as the Senior Minister and Mission Superintendent at the East Belfast Mission – a voice for peace and hope in an area plagued by conflict. Dr. Mason will be preaching at 10:30 AM worship. Please invite a friend.

MUSIC NOTES

Chancel Choir meets at 7:30 PM on Thursdays in the Music Room. Please join us!

On Sunday, April 14, 2013, the Hosanna and Alleluia Choirs will present “Happy Day” at the 10:30 Worship service.

“Happy Day” is an energizing musical celebrating the feast of Easter. Featuring simple narration and energetic songs, all will enjoy this presentation about the amazing day Jesus Christ rose from the grave … what a happy day!

The choirs have been working on this presentation during the past month. Choir members participating are Katrina Ricard, Jake White, Devin and Jack Haley, McAllister Tucker, Michelle and Marcus Rodriguez, and Zack Summer.

We are grateful to all the moms working behind the scene to make this a rewarding production for the choirs, as well as for the congregation. We hope all of you will plan to come and celebrate the Resurrection with these young people.
