GEORGE’S UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 4910 Ox Road, Fairfax, VA 22030 Office: 703.385.4550 Email: [email protected] Preschool: 703.385.4422 TODAY IS UMW SUNDAY! A SPECIAL MOTHER’S DAY GIFT – HELP SAVE LIVES This week’s White Pages contains a special insert: the opportunity to honor a mother and help save the lives of women and children who die needlessly every minute, of every day, of a preventable disease – malaria. 90% of malaria deaths are women - and children under the age of five. Imagine No Malaria, a ministry of The United Methodist Church, is launching a Mother’s Day campaign so that mothers in Africa will be able to fight malaria and nurture their children into thriving adults. Please see today’s insert for more information and ways in which you can help support this very worthy cause. United Methodist Mothers (and friends) are asked to sign the Moms for Moms Petition for Global Health Funding which will be presented to Congress on the Tuesday after Mother's Day 2013 (May 14, 2013). Collection of signatures began with World Malaria Day, April 25, 2013, and run through Monday, May 13, 2013. Every United Methodist conference is encouraged to add at least 100 signatures to this petition. To sign the online petition, visit The General Board of Church and Society for the United Methodist Church’s website [http://umc- gbcs.org/take-action] and click on the Moms for Moms Petition for Global Health Funding. You do not have to be a United Methodist to sign, nor do you have to be a mother. We want to show Congress that many people, of all backgrounds, are concerned about the needless deaths and suffering resulting from preventable and treatable diseases of poverty. We want our government to fully support the world-wide effort to defeat these illnesses. THANK YOU Many thanks to Rev. Dr. John B. Tate for joining us at St. George’s UMC last week and leading worship.

TODAY IS UMW SUNDAY!

A SPECIAL MOTHER’S DAY GIFT – HELP SAVE LIVES

This week’s White Pages contains a special insert: the opportunity to honor a mother and help save the lives of women and children who die needlessly every minute, of every day, of a preventable disease – malaria.

To sign the online petition, visit The General Board of Church and Society for the United Methodist Church’s website [http://umc-

gbcs.org/take-action] and click on the Moms for Moms Petition for Global Health Funding.

THANK YOU

Many thanks to Rev. Dr. John B. Tate for joining us at St. George’s UMC last week and leading worship.
