FROM FR. QUINT
Today there should be an insert in your bulletin about a pilgrimage to Italy.
We will travel next fall, October 3 14. I’ve waited to promote the pilgrimage
so that folks would not be confused and think we were trying to travel this
fall! I talked with our travel coordinator from the NAWAS agency last week
and she said a pilgrimage just returned from Italy and they had a wonderful
experience with no lines and beautiful scenery.
I recall shortly after I was ordained mom encouraged me to lead a
pilgrimage she loved to travel. I responded that I had no interest in leading
a group and being responsible for their care. Seven years ago, however,
after several folks remarked about desiring a pilgrimage to Ireland, I broke
down and was so glad I did! We had such a good time. Our subsequent
pilgrimages to Germany and Central Europe were likewise enjoyable. Our
groups interact well with few, if any, complaints. NAWAS Travel has directed
tours for over 70 years so they find the best guides, good food, and great
accommodations.
This itinerary will take a pilgrim who has not been to Italy to wellknow
places and the experienced pilgrim to new sites. Our pilgrimages include
daily Mass, as well as prayer along the way. And maybe some time to chat
over a beverage at the close of day for those who aren’t ready for bed. All
are welcome to join us. This pilgrimage holds a very good financial value and
will include travel to and from our Chicago flight. More info is available at the
cluster office.

Other items:
Welcome to visitors as part of the annual Farm Toy Show! Glad you
made worship a part of your experience.
Welcome to our confirmation candidates at 8:30 am Mass today,
followed by formation.
As we mark Veterans Day this week, we thank those who have served
our nation and ask for God’s continued protection upon them and our
country.
On Wednesday Archbishop Jackels will celebrate Mass at Beckman
Catholic for the students in the Catholic schools of our area including
Aquin, Seton, LaSalle, Xavier, Sacred Heart, and St. Mary (Manchester
and Guttenberg).
Our priests will be part of the Veterans Day celebrations in Earlville and
Dyersville.
See you at the KC breakfast today and the Xavier Parish breakfast next
Sunday.
Praise God for the 16 high school guys who came to our local
vocations event recently! Fr. Tyler did a wonderful job of inviting them
and I was grateful that their parents supported their participation. We
pray that if God desires them to be priests, that they answer his calling
with generous hearts.
The KC Wine & Swine event was enjoyable again. Paul & Stella
Helle brought the favorite wine.
Several parishioners participated in our cemetery pilgrimage last
Saturday. We are fortunate to have such beautiful places for our beloved
departed to rest until Jesus calls us to glory on the last day.

S! T O7 (STO) ~ The
75% Tax Credit sounds too good to be true, but it’s not. If you
file an Iowa income tax return, your contributions to the Our
Faith School Tuition Organization (STO) receive a 75% tax
credit. For example, if you expect to owe $1500 in Iowa
income tax, you can donate $2000 to the STO and receive a
$1500 tax credit ($2000 x 75%); this leaves you owing $0
dollars on your Iowa income taxes. In addition, your gift may
qualify for federal deductibility. But let’s not forget that the
$2000 you’ve given will provide tuition assistance for qualify-
ing families in the Archdiocese. For more information, talk to
your tax professional or financial advisor or call Deacon Brian
Zeman Our Faith STO Director at 5635562580 ext. 296
