Father of goodness and love, hear our prayers for the sick members of our community and for all who are

in need. Amid mental and physical suffering may they find consolation in your healing presence. We ask

this through the Lord Jesus who healed those who believed. Amen

Bible INSIGHTS Psalm 19 Who but David could have expressed the beautiful poetry in today's Responsorial Psalm? "The heavens show forth the glory of God; the firmament proclaims the work of his hands." So it begins, with creation itself praising the sun, the most important celestial body, without which nothing would exist or have life. In the second part of the psalm, the psalmist, uses the relationship of the sun to creation as a measure of the importance of the Law. "The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The decree of the Lord is trustworthy, giving wisdom to the simple." The psalmist is showing that the law is a treasure rather than a restriction. Within the law one finds order and peace, freedom from anxiety and fear. Finally, the psalmist prays to God for the wisdom to detect trespasses, cleansing from inadvertent sins, and strength to be able never to be controlled by them. Just as it would be foolish to try to divert the path of the sun and create havoc in nature, so it would be foolhardy to ignore the law or try to challenge the order established by the law. Recognizing this and taking it to heart is a sign of wisdom. Cathy La Disa. Bible Study: Tuesday evening 6:30 p.m. and Friday morning 10:00 a.m.

I'm Fine

There's nothing whatever the matter with me. I'm just as healthy as I can be. I have arthritis in both my knees And when I talk, I talk with a wheeze. My pulse is weak and my blood is thin, But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.

I think my liver is out of whack and a terrible pain is in my back. My hearing is poor, my sight is dim, Most everything seems to be out of trim, But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.

I have arch supports for both my feet, or I wouldn't be able to go on the street. Sleeplessness I have night after night, and in the morning I'm a sight. My memory is failing, my head's in a spin, I'm peacefully living on aspirin. But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.

The moral is, as this tale we unfold, That for you and me who are growing old, It's better to say, "I'm fine" with a grin Than to let them know the shape we're in.

__Cardinal Cushing

BELIEVING IN THE EXTRAORDINARY Cardinal Raymond Burke wrote the following about Eucharistic miracles: “They help us go beyond the visible and the perceptible and admit the existence of something beyond. Precisely because it is recognized as an extraordinary happening, a Eucharistic miracle has no explanation in scientific facts and reasoning. It goes beyond human reason and challenges a person to "go beyond" the perceptible, the visible, and the human - that is, to admit that there is something incomprehensible, something unexplainable by human reason alone, something that cannot be scientifically demonstrated.” Cardinal Burke was writing about Eucharistic miracles but his words can be applied to all of our faith, to all things of God. PRACTICE: Consider Cardinal Burke's words and reflect on the scripture pas-sage below. Do this before the Blessed Sacrament. Do this as you prepare for Communion. Do this throughout Mass. We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit that is from God, so that we may understand the things freely given us by God. And we speak about them not with words taught by human wisdom, but with words taught by the Spirit, describing spiritual realities in spiritual terms.1 Corinthians 12-13. Do you see the mystery and the miracles of our faith? Do you see our faith as something beyond, something extraordinary? Ask God to help you see and believe. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Every Friday 9:00am to 9:00pm in the Chapel of Adoration. If you would like to join The Adoration Program at St. Frances Cabrini call or email Alice Burns 919-306-6293 [email protected]

ATTENTION: ALL BABIES TO BE

A layette bag of baby clothes is available to you in the church office. This is a gift from CCW Circle New Baby Steps. Please stop by the office and choose a “boy” or “girl “bag.
