Parish Mission Statement The Catholic community of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, united in the love of God, comes together

to worship the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, to provide for the spiritual growth of each member, to minister to one another’s needs, to be servants and neighbors to all, to strengthen and share faith, to experience the richness of Jesus Christ. The Catholic community of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, aware of its call to be the good news, accomplishes its mission through worship, education, service and personal example.

May God Bless and keep safe in his care our Service Men and Women whose lives are in danger every day. They

heroically serve to defend and maintain freedom around the world as well as at home. Our prayer for them reflects our great admiration and love for them. May God bless them, watch over them, and protect them always.

End of the Year Contribution Statements 2018 Contribution statements are available in the Gathering Space. Thank you to everyone who has given generously throughout the year to support the important work of our parish.

Anna Asks%. What is a pilgrimage? Fr. O’Connor and Brendan are on “Pilgrimage” to Rome – a very ancient custom in the Church. It is a personal invitation from God to know God more fully. A pilgrimage is a spiritual journey to which the pilgrim joyfully responds “yes” to God’s invitation. It is a journey to a holy, sacred place to usher the pilgrim into the presence of God. Pilgrims must embark on this journey with joyful anticipation, being willing to temporarily separate from their world. A successful pilgrimage involves a commitment to leave behind one’s problems and to focus instead on seeking to learn more about our heavenly Father, making one’s heart full of desire for special graces, praises, petitions and thanksgiving, returning home transformed, renewed and restored by the abundant blessings received.

Fr. O’Connor Is Away On Pilgrimage From March 11-21, Fr. O’Connor and Brendan have the good fortune of taking

part in the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Italy. Please keep the group in prayer as they will be praying for you in Rome, Assisi, Florence, Venice, and places in-between. Thank you to Father David James, who will be covering daily Masses and to Deacon Bill who is leading communion services a couple of times. Also, thanks to the Jesuits who will cover us next weekend. Fr. Dan Mulhauser, who needs no introduction, will be covering the 5:00pm & 7:30am Masses. Fr. Joe Marina, who is Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Lemoyne College, will cover the 9:00am & 11:00am Masses. As you are aware, next Sunday is March 17th, so please welcome Fr. McMulhauser and Fr. O’Marina to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

Lenten Regulations on Fasting & Abstaining from Meat – Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory

days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence. For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards.

A Big Thank You to all that helped with the recent FUNERAL LUNCHEONS. Whether you furnished food or helped in

the kitchen, thank you so much! The families were very grateful; we couldn’t have done this without you. For those of you who were called and could not help for this funeral, that was no problem at all, we will call you again. Some people commented that they wondered why they hadn’t been called before. That’s because we have been fortunate that this was only our second and third funeral luncheon since the committee was formed. If you haven’t signed up and would like to be on a committee, please let us know. We can always use more help. Contact Mary Ballard and/or Donna Walter (315) 652-1477.

Bake Goods to Support Humane CNY - Humane CNY is a no kill animal shelter that provides this wonderful

and compassionate service for homeless animals in our community. We had eighteen of our parishioners graciously provide baked goods for last year’s event. Humane CNY was grateful to our parish for their help. It would be great to even get more to participate. Should anyone like to help out and provide a few baked goods for the annual Humane CNY bake sale – fundraiser the first week in April; please contact Dick Deyulio at 315-454-7307 for details.

IGNITE 2019 Catholic Men's Conference. Attention men of the parish, the theme for the 11th Annual IGNITE

Men’s Conference is Exalt: O God be Merciful to me a Sinner. As usual there are 3 tremendous speakers, Dr. John Bergsma, Eric Mahl, and Chris Padgett, and they will challenge all who attend. You can be part of it on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the SRC Arena & Event Center on the campus of OCC for an amazing day that will have a tremendous impact on you. You can register for the IGNITE 2019 Catholic Men's Conference online at www.ignitecatholicmen.org.

the table outside the church office, or can be downloaded from the church’s website or the preschool website: www.seaspreschoolbville.com If you have any questions, please call Nicole Pompo, Preschool Director at 315-652-9364 or email at [email protected].

Thank You from the Chadwick Residence “The St. Elizabeth Ann Seton community once again showed their

generous spirit on February 24, 2019. The wonderful donations from the parishioners brought a smile to the faces of our residents. We could not fulfill our mission and the women of Chadwick could not reach their goals without your assistance. We sincerely appreciate your belief in our mission and know we can count on your continued support as we strive to end homelessness within our community.”

A Prayer Chain is in place at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Serving on the Prayer Chain is a way for good people to serve God

and to bring blessings to others who will be grateful for the prayers of Prayer Chain Members. If prayers for self or for others are needed and desired, please call the Parish Office at 652-4300 and your prayer requests will be forwarded to Angie Peterson. At times we all need prayers and others need prayers too.

Please Let Us Know if you or a family member is homebound and would like to receive Holy Communion at home.

Deacon Bill and Father O’Connor make regular First Friday calls and whenever home Communion is requested.

Vocation Reflection% At the Transfiguration, Jesus was revealed to the disciples as God’s “chosen Son.” God still speaks to us today and wants to reveal himself to us in our lives. What is He reveling to you? For help with discernment, call our vocation office at 315-470-1468.

The Word of God & Mother Seton% “He will not leave you one moment, nor suffer the least harm to approach you. Not one tear will fall to the ground, nor one sigh of love to be lost.”—St. EAS. Genesis reminds us today of Abraham’s righteousness. Often seen throughout the Old Testament, “righteousness” highlights one’s being in right relationship with God. Abraham allowed the Lord to lead him, even when that meant being led away from the comfort and safety of his life to a land with many unknowns. Are you allowing the Lord to lead you this Lent, or are you dictating your own prayer, fasting, and almsgiving? God ‘made good’ on his promises to Abraham, surely God will also be faithful to those who continue to trust in His invitations.
