New windows are set to be installed in the parking lot side of the Great Hall; floors, windows, and carpets will be cleaned. New mulch will be spread! Please email or call the office to see if we are here before you make a trip over! Thanks. Hope to see many of you at the picnic on August 14th. Fondly, Janet Leishman Has your summer been a good one? Did you take that dream vacation? Get some yard work done? I know that you spent as much time as possible with your preschooler - they grow up so quickly, you do not want to miss a minute! Summer Camp has been lots of fun (and it will continue until August 21st). Some new children joined the preschoolers from last year, and some former students and staff returned to work and volunteer! The campers watched new windows get installed along the hallway, worked in the vegetable garden (crops included carrots, cucumbers, green beans, and tomatoes ), sang and marched to celebrate the 4th of July, and rode the Wilmington Western Railroad train. We had visits from the Super Duper Sports Instructors, Mr. Vogel, and Frozen Sunshine! Mrs. Pierce taught us lots of new songs this summer! Keeping everyone safe and secure is our number one priority. Here are some reminders to help you help us in that endeavor.

The main entrance door is located near the school sign. During the school day, you can gain access. This code also works on the security door at the end of the long hallway near room 4. This number is changed at least twice a year. Please do not share it with people whom you do not want to have access. For one-time access - use the doorbell and one of the administrative team will “buzz” the door open.

When entering or leaving the building, make sure the doors shut behind you! All exterior doors are locked, and interior doors are locked once the school day begins. You may be asked to leave your child at the office if you arrive late (after 9:15 or so).

The parking lot is extremely busy at certain times of the day, so be aware of your surround-ings and your speed (12 MPH). Watch for children who have walked away from their par-ents or grandparents! Please do not leave your car unlocked and running; and do not leave valuables in your car - even for a short time!

New to Delaware? Children

must be secured in a car seat that is recommended for their age, weight, and height.

Do not leave a younger sibling in the car at drop-off or pick-up, please. Call the office and one of the admin. team will assist you.

No TEXTING and driving! It is the law.

If the gym equipment is out when you arrive, please keep your child off it. Siblings should not be on it either.

Feel free to use the large play-ground before and after school when classes or the LUNCH BUNCH are not using it. Please supervise your child. Play-ground rules can be found in the Family Handbook. For your convenience the website is www.stdavidsdayschoolde.org

Everyone (staff and children) signs in and out on Kindles using the Kinderlime® attendance system. Each child can have multiple “pins” assigned, depending on the number of people who regularly pick up/drop off. Once you receive a “pin,” it will be yours for as long as your child is enrolled. Look for more information about Kinderlime® in the August 2019 mailing.

Welcome to the new school year!

I am very excited to be able to

I aim to provide an engaging and

fun way to help your child learn

new ways to be active, while

incorporating many other areas

of development. I hope to teach

are healthy bodies, and that

St. David’s Episcopal Day School exists to provide a nurturing, Christian community where children can learn and grow. We do this through:

Leading each child into caring relationships with peers and adults;

Offering each child a stimulating learning experience;

Valuing each child’s unique growth; and,

Encouraging each child’s awareness of God in the world.

Ours is a safe environment where children ages two through five are encouraged to grow spiritually, emotionally, cognitively, socially, and physically so their greatest potential may be realized.
