Saturday, December 8 is the Solemnity of the Im-maculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and a Holy Day of Obligation. Because the Holy Day falls on Saturday the Mass schedule is different. The Masses on the Vigil (December 7) are at 5:30 pm in English and 7:00 pm in Spanish. The Masses on the Holy Day are at 7:00 and 9:00 am only. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The next Monthly Mass for the Sick, sponsored by the Mass for the Sick ministry of Sacred Heart/Our Lady Help of Christians Collaborative, will be on Monday, Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady’s Church. Fr. Dan Riley, Administrator of our SHOL collaborative, will celebrate the Mass and Anointing of the Sick. Following refreshments, Fr. Dan will speak on “Happiness Goes Up After 50”. The even-ing is designed to bring joy, hope, and peace to those who are affected by illness, including family and friends. The Mass and program will both be held downstairs at Our Lady’s church, located at 573 Washington Street in Newton. Our Parish Grand Annual Collection will be held next weekend, December 1-2. You will soon be re-ceiving a letter and fiscal year financial summary and budget in the mail. This collection is the single largest source of income for the parish each year and is essential for us to maintain our parish properties and programs and to meet our financial obligations. Religious Education Notes: The Sacramental Preparation Programs are 2 Years! Two years of Religious Education are required to receive the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation. They are not age or grade specific. However, children are typically in First Grade for Communion 1 and 9th Grade for Confirmation 1.

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC) is for children 7 years of age or older who have not been baptized.

The Religious Education Program for Grades K-8 meets Sundays at 10:45 AM. All classes are in St. Columbkille School.

Confirmation 1 & 2 Classes meet at 11:00 AM. All classes are in St. Columbkille School.

Religious Education Teachers and assistant teachers are needed. If you could help in this way please contact the rectory at 617-782-5774. If you have a love of God and a desire to pass this faith and love on to others you are ready to be a reli-gious education teacher. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) meets on Sundays at 10:00 am in the rectory. Una nota del P. Chris: ¡Vamos a compartir la comida! ¿Tienen hambre después de la Misa? ¿Quieren

conocer más personas en la comunidad? Tengo una idea. Tal vez, nuestra comunidad pueda vender platos de comida a ($3.00 cada uno) de arroz, pollo, frijoles y ensalada en la cafetería de la escuela. Desde enero en 2019, me gustaría que se ofreciera la comida

cada fin semana después de la Misa para que nuestra comunidad crezca más como familia de Dios. Tenemos que conocernos más. Tenemos que pasar más tiempo juntos, compartiendo especialmente la comida. Pero, para hacer posible esta idea, necesito su ayuda. Estoy pidiendo su colaboración. Necesitamos cerca de 20 personas (especialmente madres) que podrían colaborar con nuestra comunidad para cocinar y servir la comida. Colaborando con las personas que todavía están sirviendo en el grupo de café, cada persona probablemente va a cocinar 4 veces al año. Las presentaciones de los bebés (Dec 2) Las presentaciones de los bebés se están llevando a cabo el primer domingo del mes. Los padres que estén interesados en presentar a su bebé al Señor, favor de llevar a su bebé al frente del altar cuando el Padre Chris invite a los padres y bebés durante de la Misa en el 2 de Diciembre.

El sábado 8 de diciembre es la solemnidad de la Inmaculada Concepción de la Santísima Virgen María y un día santo de obligación. Debido a que el día santo cae en sábado, el horario de la misa es diferente. Las Misas en la Vigilia (7 de diciembre) son a las 5:30 pm en inglés y a las 7:00 pm en español. Las misas en el día santo son a las 7:00 y a las 9:00 am solamente. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

El año litúrgico está formado por distintos tiempos litúrgicos. Estos son tiempos en los que la Iglesia nos invita a reflexionar y a vivir de acuerdo con alguno de los misterios de la vida de Cristo. El año litúrgico comienza con el Adviento, tiempo en el que nos preparamos para el nacimiento de Cristo. Posteriormente, llega el tiempo de la Navidad. Después, hay un breve tiempo ordinario, después del cual comienza la Cuaresma. El fin y plenitud de la Cuaresma es la Semana Santa, con la que comenzamos el Tiempo Pascual. Después de los cincuenta días de la Pascua viene de nuevo el Tiempo Ordinario, el cual termina, junto con todo el año litúrgico, con la fiesta de Cristo, Rey del Universo.
