As members of St. Christopher Catholic Parish family we are called to share in the mission of Jesus through our Baptism

our beliefs to all with whom we come in contact on our common journey to salvation and eternal life.

Prayer for the Formation of Spirit-Filled
Evangelizers
O Holy Spirit come into my life and my heart. By the
fire of your love, transform me and all Catholics
throughout Michigan’s Upper Peninsula into Spirit-
filled evangelizers. I pray that more and more people
may come to know the love of Jesus Christ and make
a personal decision to follow Him. I pray for all the
people that I know who are not practicing any faith.
Touch their hearts with your love, O Holy Spirit.
Work through me so that they may have a personal
encounter with Jesus Christ and follow Him in faith.
Through Christ our Lord, Amen

32nd Sunday In Ordinary Time
From The Desk Of
Deacon Tom

It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is
next week already!! We have had a lot
going on in our parish, and many more things around
the corner. We want to thank the ladies of the Wom-
en’s Club for a wonderful Fall Bazaar. It was a fun
event and a very successful fundraiser! Thank you all
for all our hard work and making our parish such a
welcoming experience.

Also, thanks to all of you who responded to our parish
mailing for the Upper Peninsula Catholic Services Ap-
peal. As you may or may not know, half of my salary
is paid through this fund as director of the Permanent
Diaconate for our diocese. Everyone in this office
works extremely hard to meet the goals set by Bishop
John and the needs of all or parishes. Thank you all
for your support!!

This week we hear the story of Elijah and the widow of
Zarephath. It is one of the most compelling examples
of what Saint John Paul II called “the law of the gift”.
Namely, that one’s being increases in the measure
that one gives it away. By an instinct, we seek to
hang on to what we have, to cling to our possessions,
and to defend our lives at all costs. But in the spiritual
order this instinct is counterproductive. For in regard
to the things of God; grasping leads, not to gain but to
lose.

Therefore, if you want the divine life in you never to
run out; don’t hang on to it. Give it away! And, you
will find it increasing in you thirty, sixty, and a hundred-
fold. What love is God asking you to give away to-
day? Will you do it?
