First Reading: Acts of the Apostles 2:42-47 Second Reading: 1 Peter 1: 3-9 Gospel: John 20: 19-31

A message from Fr. Mark: For the last month and half, since Kate McCarthy le the posi on of Director of Music Ministries to become a new Mom again (Congrats, Kate, John and big brother Declan - and welcome to the world Preston!) Audrey Gomes has been ministering as our interim Director. This weekend, April 22 and 23 is her last weekend in this posi on. On be-half of the community, the staff and myself, I want to extend deep thanks to Audrey for an outstanding job. Audrey stepped in at what is possibly the most difficult moment in the liturgical year: Lent and the Triduum. The sheer vol-ume of music required at this me is enormous – and Audrey led us all; community, choir, cantors and me, through it professionally, elegantly, prayerfully, de ly and with great quality. She has been a joy with which to work and minister. I have told many of you, and I say it here again, should she choose to remain in ministry, Audrey will make an amazing minster for the church. Thank you, Audrey! Rest assured of our prayers for you as your promising fu-ture unfolds.

Next weekend will be the first weekend here for our new Director of Music Ministry. I am very happy to announce that we have hired Hannah Newell for this ministry posi on. Welcome Hannah! Allow me to let Hannah introduce herself to you. She writes:

My first Music Ministry experience started at the young age of four. My parents signed me up for the Chil-dren's Choir in my home parish, St. Isidore in Danville, because I wouldn't sit s ll in the pew. It has been said, that I may have even kicked my shoe into the congrega on. If only my parents knew then, what an enormous impact Music Ministry would come to play in my life. Throughout my adolescence, I began to develop a deep passion and love of singing and music. I par cipated in my high school and college choirs where I received honors such as the "Dr. David Stein Award for Choral Excellence". I also started singing with Livermore Valley Opera, which widened my apprecia on for new genres and created a drive in me to pursue a classical vocal educa on. I went on to graduate from California State University East Bay, where I studied Music with an emphasis in Vocal Performance. In my early adult years, I started to experience Music Ministry outside of my home parish, as a cantor throughout the Oakland Diocese. As I've go en older, I've grown to develop a new found passion in serving God through this form of meaningful and important work. For the last three years, I was ac vely involved at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Dublin, where I had the pleasure of Direc ng the Children and Youth Music Ministries. Aside from my work in Music Ministry, I have also been a Private Instructor of Voice and Piano for the past six years, where I ran my own business from my home studio in Mountain House, California. When I am not serving God through Music Ministry, I am serving him as a wife and mother of four. My hus-band and I started our family in 2011, and before we knew it, we were a func oning family of six. Family is a funda-mental part of who I am and while having four children ages six to sixteen-months poses its fair share of challenges, I wouldn't have it any other way! I am very excited to join the St. Charles Borromeo Community. My family and I are looking forward to making St. Charles our new "home", and we are eager to meet you all. I am overjoyed to begin ministering with you and cre-a ng new memories together, for years to come. Many Blessings, Hannah

• For Medical or Pastoral emergencies, call the parish num-ber and choose op on 9 (emergency phone message). Leave a clear message and call-back number! Fr. Mark will be away on vaca on April 24-28. Another priest in the area will be taking our emergency calls.

• Drug Take Back Event—Saturday, April 29, 10AM—2PM Bring your unused over the counter or prescrip on medica ons to Livermore Police Department, 1110 S. Livermore Ave. They offer “drive through” ser- vice! Pull into the circle in front of the Police Depart- ment and they will gladly come to you. Disposing of these medica ons properly keeps them out of un- wanted hands as well as out of our landfill and water systems. Unfortunately, they do not accept needles of any kind. You can bring the medica ons in their original bo les or dump them into a mixed bag. They will accept liquids in their original bo les. • Church Humor ...Faith Forma on lessons… During Faith Forma on Class, Joseph, the catechist, was telling his class the story of the Prodigal Son. Wishing to emphasize the resen ul a tude of the older brother, he laid stress on this part of the parable.

A er describing the rejoicing of the household over the return of the wayward son, Joseph spoke of one who, in the midst of the fes vi es, failed to share in the jubilant spirit of the occasion.

“Can anyone,” he asked, “Tell me who this was?”

Nine year old Madison had been listening sympathe -cally to the story. She waved her hand in the air. “I know!”, she beamed, “It was the fa ed calf.”
