SCHOOL PICTURE DAY Monday, September 15, is our annual school picture day. Students in grades K-7 brought home a flyer/order form/envelope last week with information. Students in grades K-7 pre-order and prepay for their photos. Parents may do this online or with the form. Please read the information carefully when you receive it. There is one order per child. Every child in the family needs their own separate order and payment. Even if you do not wish to purchase pictures at this time, all students will be photographed to be included in the school yearbook. (There is a make-up day scheduled later for anyone who is ill and absent.) Students in grade 8 will also have their portraits taken the same day, however, these students do not pre-order nor prepay. These students will receive proofs of several poses a few weeks later. From these proofs, students will place their orders. On school picture day, students do not need to wear their uniforms. Students should dress nicely and modestly. NO jeans nor denim shorts/capris, no sleeveless dresses or tops, no sandals nor open shoes; see the handbook for more information about appropriate attire. Gym classes and outdoor recess will still be held as scheduled, so parents/students should keep that in mind when choosing clothing. We hope to see many bright, shining faces and beautiful smiles on this day!! Food Collection to Honor St. Vincent de Paul On Friday, September 26, we will honor St. Vincent De Paul, the patron saint of charitable organizations. In order to help Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County, which stocks a pantry of food and other necessities to assist those in need in our community, we are holding a school-wide collection during our Friday Mass on the 26th. Each student is asked to bring in at least one item from the list for his/her grade. Items may be brought in early and kept in the classroom. Each child will then bring the item forward during the collection time before Mass on the 26th. We appreciate your participation in carrying on the good works of St. Vincent de Paul.

Please do not bring in items in glass jars. Kindergarten: jelly (16 oz. plastic bottles) Grade 1: canned fruit Grade 5: canned soup Grade 2: canned meat (tuna, chicken, beef) Grade 6: canned meat (chicken, tuna, beef) Grade 3: canned soup Grade 7: canned fruit ` Grade 4: peanut butter Grade 8: peanut butter SCRIP NEWS Schedule Reminder – There are NO SCRIP sales this Saturday, September 13 or next Saturday, September 20, however, Sunday sales will take place as normal. There is no school on Monday, September 22. School orders will be collected and filled on Tuesday September 23. Merchant News – Last week we notified you that the Papa Murphy’s in our area will be closing, some sooner than others. We strongly encourage you to use any cards that you may have in your “stash” as soon as possible. Our preliminary reports indicate that the one located in St. Joe Village will remain open until the end of the year. We have inventory to sell and encourage you to purchase and use old and new inventory as quickly as possible. We will continue to post updates and reminders in the bulletin and school news updates. What saint do you think should be depicted in our new chapel? Students, alumni, parents (past and present) and friends may write an essay on the who, what, how, and why the person believes his/her saint should be depicted in a chapel window.
