TUESDAY, August 21st White VestmentsPope St. Pius X, reversed a fifty year old self destructing liberalism in the Church called Modernism, many of whose priests adherents fell into heresy by denying thetruths of the Catholic Church, especially the Supernatural Character of the Seven Sacraments, the Primacy of the Pope, that Jesus is God and rose from the dead andthat the Mass is the real sacrifice of Christ on Calvary. He proclaimed this in his famous Bull “Lamentabilii Rei” (“Of things Lamentable”) and made all priests take anOath against the heresy of modernism. Rome ^ 1914

A Reading from the Book of Proverbs (PRV 9:1-6)

Wisdom has built her house, she has set up her seven columns; she has

dressed her meat, mixed her wine, yes, she has spread her table. She has

sent out her maidens; she calls from the heights out over the city: “Let

whoever is simple turn in here; To the one who lacks understanding,

she says, Come, eat of my food, and drink of the wine I have mixed!

Forsake foolishness that you may live; advance in the way of

understanding.”

Lector: The Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God.

August 19, 2018The Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

(The people’s responses in bold represent wording that Pope Benedict had changed in the Mass throughout the world.)

Greeting

Priest: The Lord be with you.People: And with your spirit.

The Confiteor

I confess to almighty Godand to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinnedin my thoughts and in my words,in what I have doneand in what I have failed to do, (And then striking your breast three times)through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault;therefore, I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. Priest: Lord have mercy. People: Lord have mercy.Priest: Christ have mercy. People: Christ have mercy.Priest: Lord have mercy. People: Lord have mercy.*

*(Or any other option the priest chooses. “The Lord havemercy” can be sung as “Kyrie elÁison” or the Penitentialhymn “Asperges” may be sung.)

Gloria

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King.O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ,Only Begotten Son,Lord God, Lamb of God,Son of the Father,you take away the sins of the world,have mercy on us;you take away the sins of the world,receive our prayer;you are seated at the right hand of the Father,have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One,you alone are the Lord,you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ,with the Holy Spirit,in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Page 4: St. Bartholomew Mary, Queen of Heaven

A Reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians (EPH 5:15-20)

Brothers and sisters: Watch carefully how you live, not as foolish persons but aswise, making the most of the opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore, donot continue in ignorance, but try to understand what is the will of the Lord. And donot get drunk on wine, in which lies debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and playingto the Lord in your hearts, giving thanks always and for everything in the name ofour Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.

Lector: The Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. John (JN 6: 51-58)

People: Glory to you, O Lord.

Jesus said to the crowds: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven;whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is myflesh for the life of the world.” The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying,“How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen,I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood,you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my bloodhas eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food,and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my bloodremains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have lifebecause of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life becauseof me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestorswho ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.”

Priest: The Gospel of the Lord. People: Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ.

The Responsorial: Taste and see the goodness of the Lord. (PS 34:2-3, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9)

Lector: Alleluia People Only: Alleluia (Stand)

Lector Only: Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him, says the Lord.

People Only: Alleluia

Priest: The Lord be with you. People: And with your spirit.

Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty,

Maker of heaven and earth,

of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,

the Only Begotten Son of God,

born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light,

true God from true God,

begotten, not made,

consubstantial with the Father;

through Him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation He came down

from heaven,At the words that follow, up to and including and became Man, all bow

and by the Holy Spirit was Incarnate of the

Virgin Mary and became Man.

For our sake He was crucified under Pontius

Pilate,

He suffered death and was buried,

and rose again on the third day

in accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and

the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of

Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,

Who with the Father and the Son is adored and

glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.

I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins

and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead

and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

I Heard the Voice of Jesus

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Come unto Me and rest;

Lay down, thou weary one, lay down Thy head upon My breast.”

I came to Jesus as I was, weary and worn and sad;

I found in Him a resting place, and He has made me glad.

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Behold, I freely give

The living water; thirsty one, stoop down, and drink, and live.”

I came to Jesus, and I drank of that life giving stream;

My thirst was quenched, my soul revived, and now I live in Him.

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “I am this dark world’s Light;

Look unto Me, thy morn shall rise, and all thy day be bright.”

I looked to Jesus, and I found in Him my Star, my Sun;

And in that light of life I’ll walk, till traveling days are done.

Offertory

Praise to the Lord

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!

O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and

salvation!

All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near;

Praise Him in glad adoration.

Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and

defend thee;

Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee;

Ponder anew what the Almighty can do,

If with His love He befriend thee.

Praise to the Lord, O let all that is in me adore Him!

All that hath life and breath, come now with praises

before Him;

Let the Amen sound from His people again,

Gladly for aye we adore Him.

Entrance

Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee

The Supper of the Lord

Refrain: Precious body, Precious Blood here in breadand wine. Here the Lord prepares the feast divine. Bread of Love is broken now; Cup of Life is poured. Come, share the Supper of the Lord.

1. This is the bread of God coming down from heaven,giving life to us, to all the world.

A Discovering Christ Testimony...

“After participating in Discovering Christ, I look at this as a new beginning for me. From the 1st session,

I felt welcomed by Jesus. I now feel grounded, and at peace knowing that God is here for me. I was always taught this as a Catholic, but it’s different to actually experience it! - P.H.

Prayer to St. Michael the ArchangelSt. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the

wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into

Hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Salve, Regina Hail, Mary, Mother and Queen

Salve, Regina, Mater misericordiae;Vita, dulcedo et spes nostra, salve.Ad te clamamus exsules filii Hevae.Ad te suspiramus gementes et flentesin hac lacrimarum valleEia ergo, advocata nostra,illos tuos misericordes oculos ad nos converte.(brief bow)

Et Jesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria.

Hail, Mary, Mother and Queen of tender mercy,Our life, our comfort, and our hope, we hail you.From this foreign land Eve’s sons and daughters cry to you.So lost, so full of fear, We mourn, we grieve, we sigh, From this tearful vale of exile.Ah, then, our help, our advocate and guide,Turn now to us the gaze of your all loving eyes, so full of mercy.(brief bow)And Jesus your Son, and Lord, your womb’s most blessed fruit,Show Him to us when we complete our sojourn.O gentle, O loving, O beloved, O Virgin Mary.
