Transcript of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic...
In a dramatic one-man performance by
Leonardo Defilippis, Maximilian opens
with the young Raymond Kolbe, son of
devout Polish parents, expressing his
desire to be a priest. In spite of the trials
he encounters as a seminarian, he is
sustained in his journey to the priesthood
by a vision from the Blessed Mother who
offers him the choice between two
crowns - one of purity or one of
martyrdom. He boldly chooses both.
This now sets the stage for the unfurling
of the intense plot.
The program runs about 90 minutes.

Belated Thanksgiving
I would like to thank Linda Sloan and
all of the volunteers that assisted her with
the Easter Baskets for those in need.
Inevitably, I will forget people to thank
while issuing public thanksgivings (which
is why I generally skip them, so as not to
offend those I forget). It dawned on me
at Communion when I saw Linda that I
did not thank her, but then was distracted
at the end of Mass.
So, I would like to apologize to her and
anyone else that I missed.
St. Luke Productions
I am grateful that we are able to host
Leonardo and his stage manager, Joseph,
for the production of St. Maximilian
Kolbe. It is an honor to be able to bring
productions in like this to the area for the
spiritual edification and enjoyment not
only of parishioners, but also, the region.
I would like to thank Michelle for
hosting Leonardo and Joseph for dinner
during the week (we put both of them up
at the former convent between shows)
and for all of those who are volunteering
with the performance Sunday evening.
CDL. SARAH: BAD FAITH CAUSES
BAD LITURGY

FAITH-CAUSES-BAD-LITURGY
"WE CANNOT CLOSE OUR EYES TO
THE DISASTER ... CAUSED BY
REMODELING THE CHURCH'S
LITURGY"
(ChurchMilitant.com) - Cardinal Robert
Sarah, the Vatican's head liturgist, is
saying the destruction of the liturgy
resulted in a crisis of faith for Catholics.
In his address to a liturgical conference
held in Germany on Friday, the prefect
for the Congregation of Divine Worship,
drew heavily on the insights of Pope
Emeritus Benedict XVI as he warned,
"Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger tirelessly
repeated that the crisis that has shaken the
Church for fifty years, chiefly since
Vatican Council II, is connected with the
crisis of the liturgy."
He then directly quotes from the
writings of then-Cdl. Ratzinger. "I am
convinced," he writes, "that the crisis in
the Church that we are experiencing
today is to a large extent due to the
disintegration of the liturgy."
I am convinced that the crisis in the
Church that we are experiencing today is
to a large extent due to the disintegration
of the liturgy.
Archbishop Alexander Sample of
Portland, Oregon, presented a talk at the
same conference, "The Source of the
Future," in which he called for "an
authentic renewal of the sacred liturgy."
He also said that right faith is dependent
upon right liturgy. "I am firmly of the
mind," said Abp. Sample, "that if we do
not get the liturgy right, we will continue
to experience many of the other problems
in our common ecclesial life."
A major problem with modern
liturgy identified by Cdl. Sarah was the
appearance of innovations that pushed
people to activity and pre-occupation
during Mass instead of promoting
authentic worship: “It is necessary to
recognize that the serious, profound crisis
that has affected the liturgy and the
Church itself since the council is due to
the fact that its center is no longer God
and the adoration of Him, but rather men
and their alleged ability to "do" something
to keep themselves busy during the
Eucharistic celebrations.”
Sarah noted that the crisis of faith caused
by misguided liturgical practices can't be
overlooked any longer: "[W]e cannot
close our eyes to the disaster, the
devastation and the schism that the
modern promoters of a living liturgy
caused by remodeling the Church's liturgy
according to their ideas."
He highlights the fact that these
reformers forgot that a "liturgical act is
not just a prayer, but also and above all a
mystery in which something is
accomplished for us that we cannot fully
understand."
The cardinal explains that participation
at Mass isn't external so much as it is
internal: "It is not about exclusively
external activity, the distribution of roles
or of functions in the liturgy but rather
about an intensely active receptivity."
Even priests and bishops have a
problem of seeing the Mass as sacrifice,
says Cdl. Sarah. "The serious crisis of
faith, not only at the level of the Christian
faithful but also and especially among
many priests and bishops, has made us
incapable of understanding the
Eucharistic liturgy as a sacrifice."
He notes that instead of seeing the Mass
as a sacrifice, clerics and liturgical
reformers often see the Mass as a
"convivial meal" or the "community's
celebration of itself."
Cardinal Sarah says many prelates
refuse to see the crisis for what it is.
"Many refuse to face up to the Church’s
work of self-destruction through the
deliberate demolition of her doctrinal,
l i turgical, moral and pastoral
foundations," he comments.
He adds that in this crisis the number of
heretical prelates is continuing to grow:
"[M]ore and more voices of high-ranking
prelates stubbornly affirm obvious
doctrinal, moral and liturgical errors that
have been condemned a hundred times
and work to demolish the little faith
remaining in the people of God."
According to him, bad liturgy is
sometimes preferred as a diversion owing
to a guilty conscience that stems "from
the fear of meeting God face to face,
because His glance unveils and obliges us
to look truly and unflinchingly at the
ugliness of our interior life."
PRAYER FOR THE RETURN OF NON-PRACTICING CATHOLICS
Good Shepherd, You never cease to seek out the lost, to call home the stray, to comfort the frightened, and to bind
up the wounded.
I ask You to bring the people I hold in my heart back to the practice of the
Faith, and to remove all obstacles that prevent them from receiving Your
abundant mercy, which flows sacramentally through the heart of
Your holy Church.
Through the intercession of Mary, the Mother of God, their Guardian Angels,
their Patron Saints, and the ever-prayerful St. Monica, may You pardon
their sins and unshackle them from whatever hinders their freedom to
come Home. For You, O Good Shepherd, have loved
us to the end and offered Yourself to the Father for the salvation of all.
Amen.

Church Decorating for Easter Once again, we were blessed
with a great crew of people
who came on Holy Saturday to
help decorate the church for
Easter. In less than 2 hours, 16 people
transformed the church from the stark
barren-ness of Holy Week & Good
Friday to be ready for the beautiful
celebration of Our Lord’s Glorious
Resurrection!
There were many “regulars” who came
to help: they bring with them their
experience for placing the flowers,
setting up the altar, draping the balcony,
preparing and replacing candles and
countless other tasks, to be ready for the
Easter celebration. We also had several
new parish members (including our very
newest member who is barely one month
old!) who came eager to help - new
acquaintances were made and everyone
wo r k e d t o g e t he r wi t h e a s e .
We are so blessed with our Parish
Family - thank you for sharing your time
and talent for the Glory and Honor of
God and the good of our St. Anthony
Parish!
Thank you so
much for the
lovely prayer
blanket made for
me and all the
praying for me.
Please continue
to pray for me.
Thank you

Sandy,
Thanks a lot!

Just a note…. St. Anthony Prayer Blanket
Ministry began in December 2006. Since
then, over 744 Blankets have been
requested and delivered; as well as
Pocket/Helmet mini-blankets sent to those
serving our country, and Prayer squares
available for anyone to include in a
greeting card, etc. This is a great group
that welcomes new members, whether you
can sew, cut fabric, tie knots, or even
crochet or knit.
