Basket available in Narthex for donations to Pregnancy Decision Health CenterPregnancy Decision Health Center (PDHC) is a Christian not-for-profit pro-life organization that helps women who are pregnant at no cost. Their primary functions include pregnancy testing, prenatal ultrasounds, providing connections to community resources, and care beyond the pregnancy.

The staff at PDHC will also take the time to listen, provide factual information regarding abortion procedures and the risks, as well as other options for pregnancy that are available.

They are in great need of women’s personal care items. If you feel called, we ask that you provide some items in the donation basket in the Narthex next to the ones for Common Ground. Please contact Jim or Jackie Menke, 614-895-0786, if you have any questions about this ministry.

— • — Encouragement for prayer time with GodA Christian who is not in a small group with other Christians is an orphan. “… so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.” (1 Thessalonians 2:8). “… not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another … ” (Hebrews 10:28).

Brotherhood of St. Andrew resumes TuesdayThe Brotherhood of St. Andrew will begin it’s fall study on Tuesday, Sept. 17. They meet in the Parish House Conference Room on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The Brotherhood welcomes all men and boys to their meetings. Their study for the fall term will be “The Rock, The Road and The Rabbi.”

This will be a journey through the Jewish roots of Jesus and the ancient paths of Israel in a DVD study. You’ll learn more about the Rock (Jesus Christ), explore the Road (Israel), and dig deeper into the Bible with the Rabbi (God’s Word).

If you’ve been considering checking out the Brotherhood, but didn’t want to come in the middle of a study, now would be a great time as they are just starting this new program. You don’t have to join the Brotherhood to attend the meetings. Please come and see if this ministry would be right for you!

Women’s Bible Study group meets Sept. 17The Tuesday morning Women’s Bible Study small group, which meets on the first and third Tuesdays, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., at the Parish House, has selected “If You Want to Walk on Water, You’ve got to Get Out of the Boat,” by teacher and bestselling author John Ortberg, for their fall study. All women of the church are welcome to join them.

In this six-session small group Bible study you’ll learn how to move beyond fear to discover God’s unique calling for your life. Relating the story in Matthew 14 to life today, Ortberg invites you to consider the incredible potential that awaits you outside your comfort zone.

Out on the risky waters of faith, Jesus is waiting to meet you in ways that will change you forever, deepening your character and your trust in God. Peter may have been the first one out of the boat, but Jesus’ invitation to walk on water is for you, as well.

Children’s Chapel resumesChildren’s Chapel resumes during the 9 a.m. service today. Children accompany their parents to church, gather after the reading of the Gospel for Chapel, and return at “The Peace.”

‘Circle of the Church Year’ opens fall discipleship program Children in Godly Play open each new school year with the story of “The Circle of the Church Year,” which focuses on how the church tells time. Today they’ll share that story with all of us, as together with our Godly Play storytellers they bring the experience of a Godly Play lesson into the Sunday Forum.

Children, youth, and adults are invited to gather in the Sanctuary between services to learn how as Christians we move through a circle of memory and expectation to open ourselves to the presence of God.

We’ll learn about the three great times in the Church—Christmas, Easter, and Pentecost—and the significance of the colors of the Church calendar.

Coming up Next Sunday, Sept. 22, children in pre-school through 5th Grade will

return to their Godly Play classrooms; our middle school youth will begin their fall Bible study; and youth and adults will hear from parishioner Pat Schmitz, who will share about his experiences in Guatemala, where he served on a mission trip this past summer.

Godly PlayGodly Play explores the wonder of God’s movement in our lives through sacred stories from Scripture, and the sacraments and liturgy of the Church. This fall, our children will explore the lives of some of the People of God from key stories in the Old Testament.

Having heard the story of “The Great Family,” in which God established his covenant with Abraham and promised that his descendants would become as many as the stars in the sky and the grains of sand in the desert, the children will explore

more deeply “The Story of Sarah,” Abraham’s wife and mother of Isaac. Likewise, to enrich the “The Exodus” lesson, in which they learned of how God led his people out of slavery into freedom, they’ll examine more fully “The Story of Moses.”

Others they’ll encounter this fall include Joseph, Ruth, Samuel, King David, and Job. Throughout these lessons, they’ll learn that just as we are on a journey to discover the presence of God in our lives, so were the people of the Old Testament.

Watch “The Net” and our website for upcoming offerings during our “Grow in Faith” hour for youth and adults this fall.
