Regulations on Fast and Abstinence ...

The Law of Abstinence (from eating meat) binds those who have completed their fourteenth year of age. The Law of Fasting (one full meatless meal is allowed, two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together should not equal another full meal) binds all those who have attained their majority (18 years of age) until the beginning of their sixtieth year. Abstinence (from meat) is to be observed on all Fridays within the season of Lent and Passiontide and on Ash Wednesday. Fast and abstinence are observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

2020 Bishop’s Lenten Appeal: Steadfast in Faith and Joyful in Hope This weekend every household in our parish is asked to complete a Bishop’s Lenten Appeal (BLA) pledge form at Mass. The BLA provides an opportunity to unite as a Catholic family and support programs, ministries and services that no single individual or parish could offer by itself. After reflecting upon the many blessings that God has given you, please prayerfully consider making a pledge of support to this important appeal that furthers the Mission of Jesus Christ in our diocese. Your gift is very important! Every donation, regardless of the amount, is vital to the success of the BLA. Special thanks to parishioner Jennifer Cernak who donated her time to fill all the envelopes in the pews for BLA Commitment Weekend.
