Dear Parish Family,
By now you are probably wondering why I haven’t been serving on the altar for the past several months. As you know, last July I had an accident while riding my bicycle. That fall contributed to some of my health problems which I already had. As a result, I am unable to do most of my deacon duties.
My wife Mary Ann and I registered here at St. Andrew’s in October of 1962, so we have had a long history here. Our three sons attended school and received most of their sacraments here. Mary Ann was parish secretary for several years and still does volunteer work here.
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as one of your deacons for the past twelve and a half years. I especially want to thank Father Gregor for all his kindness and support. Thank you also to Father Michael, Father Jacob and my brother deacons for all their help and concern.
I will still be around and I am willing to help you in any way I can. Be assured you will always be in my prayers and I ask you to pray for my family and me. May God continue to bless you always.
Deacon Jerry
My dear family of St. Andrew the Apostle!
Andrew must have gotten on his brother’s nerves one day, because St. Peter came up to Jesus and asked, “Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? As many as seven times?” And Jesus answered, “I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times” (Mt 18,22-23). “Wow!” Peter must have thought. Life and family give us so many opportunities to show our love, and forgiveness is one of the deepest and most powerful forms of love we can show. God reveals His merciful love in the burning Heart of Jesus. Forgiveness is the heart of Jesus’ love for us, and He taught us to ask God to forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, for “if you forgive others their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions” (Mt 6,14-15). Wow! How important it is for us to forgive!
In this Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, God shows us that forgiveness leads to peace. In today’s Gospel, the sinful woman heard that Jesus was visiting a prominent Pharisee in town, so she went to show her love and appreciation for the work and message of God’s forgiveness which Jesus preached and shared — for everyone, she must have heard, including herself! “God forgives me,” she heard the message in her heart. And so she showed how much that forgiveness from God in Jesus meant to her, she washed and anointed the feet of Jesus, using her tears, hair, and oil she brought Him. Then she heard Jesus say “Your sins are forgiven...Go in peace.” In your circle of family and friends, who needs to forgive you? And whom do you need to forgive? The Heart of Jesus reveals to us God’s loving mercy. Let the works of mercy and forgiveness fill our hearts today and always!
On a personal note, please read Deacon Jerry’s letter below. I am very grateful for his continuing presence and prayers with us! Although he will no longer be as regularly visible on the altar at our Sunday Masses, he and Mary Ann continue to participate with their prayers and volunteerism in so many other ways. Thank you for your faithful love and service to our St. Andrew the Apostle Parish family. May God’s blessings continue to fill your lives and be given to you full measure, flowing over, hundredfold!
In the loving Hearts of Jesus and Mary, Fr. Gregor

…neighbor helping neighbor... Our helpline 815-886-4165 ext. 304
All calls are confidential with callbacks within 24 hours.
As we hear the Gospel today we realize that sometimes we are like Simon as it’s far easier to see what is wrong in another than it is to see what is wrong in ourselves. But Jesus, who accepts the poor woman without judging
or blaming her, shows us what Christian love is all about.
Please do not hesitate to call our helpline if you or someone you know needs temporary assistance.
The Senior Planning Group will be meeting on Thursday, June 30 at
9:00am in the Parish Office to plan the upcoming year. If you are
interested in being part of the planning or have ideas for this coming year, please come and join us

“Cross of Wishes”
During Lent, the staff of St. Andrew the Apostle asked for your help in purchasing some items on our “Wish List”. The response was overwhelming and we are all so very grateful for your kindness and
generosity! Many items have already been purchased; the rest will be purchased over the summer months. We have a few items from last Cross of Wishes to be purchased. May Our Lord Jesus bless you now and always for your continued kindness to St. Andrew’s and to each of us that minister here for you in His name. Here are the items from this year that have been/will be purchased because of your generosity:
“All that we have and all that we offer, comes from a heart both frightened and free. Take what we bring now and give what we need, all done in His name.”

What a beautiful Easter season we celebrated! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped decorate the church throughout Lent, Holy Week and Easter. You put in some late hours; and our church looked spectacular. To all the musicians who were here not only for all the celebrations, but many, many rehearsals, thank you.
Psalm 47 shouts: “God goes up with shouts of joy.
The Lord goes up with trumpet blast. Sing praise for God; sing praise!
Sing praise to our king; sing praise!”
Our Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors, Ushers, Altar Servers, and Knights of Columbus worked over-time to be sure our Masses and Services were prayerful. Thank you. We are blessed to have many Deacons to assist our priests. We appreciate you all. Our dedicated priests always had the right words to share with us at all of our Lenten, Holy Week, and Easter Masses and Services. They make our journey holy and help lead us to the Heavenly Father. God bless you.

TOTUS TUUS NEW SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM
St. Andrew the Apostle July 16-22, 2016
WHAT IS TOTUS TUUS? Totus Tuus is a week-long “parish mission” for Catholic youth whereby seminarians and college students proclaim the Gospel and promote the Catholic faith through evangelization, catechesis, apologetics, Christian witness, the sacraments, Marian devotion, Eucharistic worship, and FUN!
Totus Tuus seeks to inspire in young people a true longing for holiness, a deep desire for daily conversion, and openness to their vocation by constantly challenging them to give themselves entirely to Christ through Mary and by continually strengthening their prayer lives in imitation of Her.
TOTALLY YOURS Totus Tuus, a Latin phrase meaning “totally yours,” was the motto of St. John Paul II. Taken from St. Louis de Montfort’s True Devotion to Mary, it signifies our desire to give ourselves entirely to Jesus Christ through the hands of our Blessed Mother Mary. It also expresses our effort to give all that we have to every young person we encounter.

We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord. Amen.
GRANT ETERNAL REST, LIGHT AND PEACE TO ALL FAITHFUL DEPARTED: Jean Berry, Arlene Repetowski, Denise Figueroa
Please call the parish office by Monday at (815) 886-4165 for the name of your loved one to be placed for 3 weeks on our short term prayer list. Also, please call the parish office, if you are hospitalized and would like a visit from our hospital ministry team or homebound and in need of communion.
Hospital Visitation of Parishioners Please remember that if you or any family members find yourselves in a hospital, be sure to let them know you are a parishioner at St. Andrew’s — it doesn’t hurt to say it a few times, either! Whenever we priests, deacons or Eucharistic Ministers come to visit, we check the hospital list of parishioners printed under “St. Andrew.” But if you’re not listed as a parishioner of St. Andrew, we won’t know you’re even there! We do not want to miss you! You can always call us, too, at the office, ext. 301. Thank you. May the Lord Jesus be with you all your days, to love and be loved by Him, to honor and serve Him, as He honors and serves us!
A COMMUNITY OF WORD AND SACRAMENT
SACRAMENTS OF INITIATION CATECHUMENATE
The Catechumenate is a community which gathers those adults who have not been baptized, and seek deeper insight into the Christian faith.
BAPTISM OF CHILDREN We joyfully celebrate the baptism of children of Christian households which are joined to our weekly worship, and have active registration in our parish community for at least 3 months. After registration in the parish, please attend an Evening of Awareness, if you have not attended a class in the past two years, to register for Baptism and select a date. Classes are presented on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Baptism is celebrated on the third Sunday of the month at 1:30 p.m.
EUCHARIST AND CONFIRMATION Formation for those coming first to the table of the Lord as children is infused into the efforts of our school and Faith Formation Office. Confirmation formation is a two year process completed in eighth grade. Please call the Faith Formation Office for more information.
SACRAMENTS OF COMMITMENT MARRIAGE
