We can also be reached via phone at 780.458.2833 or

email TuesdayFriday at the St. Albert & District

    Chamber of

    Commerce office.

We have some great new features at our market this

year, and the best way to learn about them is through

    this

    newsletter.

You will receive a copy of the Farmers Market Metro

every week, and we strongly recommend that you

read through it, as this is our primary mode of

communication to you as vendors. It may be benefi-

cial for you to hold on to these newsletters for your fu-

    ture reference.

Wishing you a prosperous 2013 season,

    Debbie & James

    Barricades are erected from 7:00 - 7:15

    AM every

Saturday. Once they are up, vendors are

encouraged to begin set-up as early as

    possible.

    Vendors are permitted to drive

    vehicles in to unload, but

please drive straight out and set

up only after unloading is com-

    pletely finished. This allows for

other vendors to enter and exit

quickly. All vendorsMUST BE COMPLETELY SET-UP

    AND READY BY 9:30 AM.

    There will be a

9:20 AM cutoff for vehicles to

enter into the market area, and

all vehicles must be off the

    street by 9:30 AM.

    This is a rain or

    shine market.

    No-shows are

    not acceptable

    Each vendor is

    responsible for the

    removal and

    disposal of their

    own garbage

Shopping for the public begins only at 10:00AM

when the horn signals the open of the market.

Please do not sell anything to the general

    public before this time.

From 9:30-10:00AM vendors can do their shopping,

though they must be wearing theirpurple vendors

button in order to make a purchase during this

time. Please do not sell anything to customers not

wearing a vendor button prior to 10:00AM.

For any new vendors, or those that arent aware,

there are some stalls that do not have parking.

We recommend that you park in the lot behind theHemingway Centre (formerly old RCMP Station), north-

west of the market or in the St. Albert Curling Club

Parking Lot. There are a large number of stalls re-

    served just for us.

If you have parking with your booth, please do not

forget to bring lattice or a similar material to place

under your tires. This helps protect the beautiful St. Al-

bert grass, and it saves us all money as the City of St.

Albert must be reimbursed for any damages.

Remember to stop by the Chamber booth before

market start to get this years vendor buttons and

    stall numbers.

Numbers must be displayed prominently in your

    booth at all times.

On the back of every number is an emergency

zone number. This is extremely important because

in the case of an emergency you must tell the

emergency services which zone you are located in.

They have different entries into the market depend-

    ing on the zone.

    STALL NUMBERS

STALL LAYOUTA minor but important detail is to ensure that booths are

flush with the curb. This guarantees that you take advan-

tage of the MAXIMUM 10-foot distance from the curb. Please note, that everything must be inside your tent at all

times. For example, no signs can be outside of your tent.

Many of the vendors who have been here in previous years

may remember that the weather is unpredictable. We are

subject to not only rain, but also wind. We have learned

that in extreme winds, tents can turn into kites!

Please bring some sort of weight to hold your tent down in

    the event of extreme winds.

If winds do become severe enough that you feel safety is a

concern, please put as much of your product in bins aspossible, keeping just what is needed to continue selling on

the tables. Dropping your tent may be the best option.

    CANCELLATIONS

The market is every Saturday, rain or shine, and we

would like everyone to show up every week to make

    the market complete.

However, we understand that there are some dire

emergencies where a cancellation must be made. As

stated in the contract, there are no refunds for missed

days, and we require a notice of at least 48 hours so

that we can find someone to fill your stall and keep it

    warm in your absence.

The St. Albert Chamber of Commerce Farmers Market is

classified by Alberta Health Services as a

    Food Establishment.

All vendors selling food including produce, preserves, baked goods, etc., must meet all Food Safety guidelines as outlined by

Alberta Health Services. Vendors are required to have their Farmers Market Home Study Course Certificate. A copy of thiscertificate must be submitted to the Chamber offices. Food Permits issued by Alberta Health Services must be on hand at all

times. You are also required to place allergen, food ingredient and contact information labels on all of your products. Labels

that are separate from their products are not acceptable. For more information, contact Karen Hislop, Environmental Health

Officer at Alberta Health Services by phone at 780-460-4751 or by email at [email protected]

The St. Albert Farmers Market does not provide Liability Insurance for individual vendors. It is the vendors responsibility to

have their own insurance, and we strongly encourage every vendor to carry their own Liability Insurance Policies. The Alberta

Farmers Market Association offers very reasonable rates for vendors. For more information, visit the Alberta Farmers Mar-

    ket Associations website at www.albertamarkets.com
