Last weekend the Homily at Mass presented the Ultimate Goal In Life which is UNION WITH GOD! This is the HEART OF STEWARDSHIP!

God is the GROUND and HORIZON of our existence. 1. We originate from God; 2. We are a gift from God to our Parents; 3. In due time we re-turn to God. In between all of this we are called to realize that all that we are or ever will be is from GOD! He overwhelms us with our gifts of time, talent and treasure. All He asks of us is to return back to Him the first and best portions, the Ten Percent Tithe. And Guess what? We keep Ninety Percent! The Ten percent divided five to our personal charities and five percent to our parish. What an amazing God.

The more that we can realize this and integrate this union into our Spirits the more we can become most fully the GIFT IN WHOSE IMAGE WE ARE CREATED.!

TIME, TALENT AND TREASURE Each week on the “Generosity Page” of the bulletin we track the stewardship of Treasure. Now we also begin to track our TIME AND TALENT for a most complete measurement of our Thankfulness to our God! Each committee or group that meets is being asked to track the number of hours that are volunteered in our parish. This will include: School board and School Groups, Mass Ministries, The Choir and Faith formation leaders, etc.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN PART II This week each parish family received a Capital Campaign Part II brochure and white commitment card. Every-one is asked to prayerfully consider continuing their pledge for one more year. As you do this we ask you to fill out your card and return it to Church.

“CHOSEN” Video and Discussion Group led by Fr. Dan and Cathy Becker. Thursdays from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm in Parish Center. 6 Sessions beginning Oct. 14 to Nov. 18, 2021.

FR. DAN AWAY OCT 5—12 FOR REST & RELAXATION in a quiet place in Florida! Let us keep each other in prayer.

FR. CHIOLA FILLS IN ALL MASSES! Welcome and Thank You!

MAY OUR BLESSED MOTHER LEAD US TO WHOLENESS & HOLINESS & HEALING!

Prayer to Saint Joseph Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To you God entrusted his only Son; in you Mary placed her trust; with you Christ became

man. Blessed Joseph, to us too, show yourself a father and guide us in the path of life. Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage, and defend us from every evil. Amen.

Living for Eternal Life. Let us put ourselves into the gospel story today. All of us want to “inherit eternal life.” All of us strive to do what God commands, to do what is right and just. All of us strive to not let the things we have possess us. But it is hard going – impossible without reliance on God. This eternal life for which we long, this Kingdom of God in which we live now, is begun already in us and is fulfilled in completeness when we see God face-to-face for ever.

• What gets in my way of gaining eternal life –things, attitudes, behaviors?

• What mercy work will I do that lets me sharewhat I have with someone in need?

• How will I follow Jesus more closely thisweek?

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN PART II

There is much to do in a parish like St. Agnes and we have accomplished a lot in the last 2 years! Preparations are under way for the One Year Extension of our current campaign. It is our hopes to be able to raise an additional $660,000 to $1.0 million. This will pay off remaining debt ($300,000); the Church Chiller ($120,000); New parking lot ($240,000) and more. We will also enjoy a balanced operating budget! If we can finish up a last few projects we will be set for a bright future of mission and ministry.

For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission

The mission of the Church requires the entire People of God to be on a journey together, with each member playing his or her crucial role, united with each other. A synodal Church walks forward in communion to pursue a common mission through the participation of each and every one of her members. The objective of this Synodal Process is not to provide a temporary or one-time experience of synodality, but rather to provide an opportunity for the entire People of God to discern together how to move forward on the path towards being a more synodal Church in the long-term. The current Synodal Process we are undertaking is guided by a fundamental question: How does this “journeying together” take place today on different levels (from the local level to the universal one), allowing the Church to proclaim the Gospel? and what steps is the Spirit inviting us to take in order to grow as a synodal Church? Together we pray...

We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name.

With You alone to guide us, make Yourself at home in our hearts;

Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it.

We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder.

Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions.

Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life

and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.

All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time,

in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever.

Amen.

The SPRINGFIELD DEANERY COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN will meet on Wednesday, November 3, 10:00am - 1:00pm at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 700 East Spruce St., Chatham, IL. The theme of the meeting is "2021 Year of St. Joseph." Brunch will be served at 10:00 am followed by the meeting. All women of the Springfield Deanery are invited to participate. This gathering will give all the opportunity to get to know women from other parishes, learn more about the mission of the Council of Catholic Women, share what is happening in your parish and further our devotion to St. Joseph. If you plan to attend, contact Janet Zimmerman, President of the Springfield Deanery: [email protected] or 217-494-4743. Thank you! Please bring your face mask.

What proportion of God’s gift do you currently give? Use the chart below to find out what percentage you are currently giving. Find your income at the left and then move to the right until you find your weekly offering. What percent are you at? Could you take a step of 0.5% ($5) or 1.0% ($10) or 2.0% ($20) of your total income? We encourage all parishioners to work toward the 5% goal to our Parish Church and 5% to your own personal chari-ties. Take a “Leap of Faith” and find out that you just cannot out give God!

“A Season of Stewardship”

Replaces ACSA (Annual Catholic Services Appeal)

—Just beginning now in our Diocese—

The Annual Catholic Services Appeal is now called “A Season of Stewardship.” The goal is to begin the pro-cess of Tithing our Time, Talent and Treasure to our Parish. Thus, the 11.4% Diocesan Tax has been re-duced to 10% and is collected Monthly from each par-ish in our diocese and the “ACSA” is now history.

—God ’s Way of Caring for His Church —

“TAKE A STEP”

—A Season of Stewardship—

As your pastor I LEAD BY EXAMPLE. I took another step this year and increased my weekly tithe to St. Ag-nes from $115 to $127 (from $500 to $550 monthly). My motto is: GIVE UNTIL IT FEELS GOOD! Please prayerfully consider adjusting your tithe to mirror your own personal financial circumstances and blessings.
