Basrah Sports City is a multi-phase, multi-venue, mixed-use complex planned for the Iraqi port city of Basrah. The
project’s goal is to develop facilities and support structure that will enable the training and growth of sport in the
Republic of Iraq.
Phase I of the project, with an estimated cost of approximately $500 million US, features a 65,000-seat stadium and a
10,000-seat secondary stadium/practice facility each designed to international standards. It also includes: four training
fi elds; athlete housing and spa facilities; a VIP guest house; fi restation; sports medicine building; event parking; helipad;
and site development of approximately half of the 146-hectare compound.
Phase two of the project, which is anticipated to be larger in scope and budget, is expected to include: three smaller
multi-use arenas; a full natatorium; a tennis stadium; velodrome; mosque; amusement park/gardens; athletic training
facilities to accommodate volleyball, basketball, boxing, weightlifting, fencing, martial arts, wrestling, equestrian, crew,
skating, shooting and gymnastics; and housing, restaurant and retail components.
When complete, Basrah Sport City will be the largest sports facility that Iraq has ever built. Phase one is also the
largest project in the country since the new Iraqi state was established. The design concept provides a modern, world-
class complex that also draws upon and refl ects architectural styles and concepts used for centuries in Basrah,
demonstrating sensitivity to the cultural, religious and environmental contexts of the region.

Jeff Cooper, chairman of St. Louis Soccer United, is currently working with the city council of Collinsville, Ill., in order to fund
a soccer stadium and mixed-use development for an MLS expansion team. The plans currently call for a classically designed,
canopied 18,500-seat stadium that would host the MLS team as well as numerous other events. The MLS-specific stadium
will feature a versatile stage area capable of playing host to major concerts and music festivals.
The project will also provide numerous fan experiences through the development of a “Main Street” component comprised of
retail and offi ce space immediately adjacent to the stadium. Unique in its design, this project will bring together all the elements
and amenities of an urban community and provide quality of life benefi ts not found in most suburban locations. The entire devel-

Selected as lead designer for the new Meadowlands Stadium, 360 Architecture, with EwingCole, will
deliver a home facility to both the National Football League’s New York Giants and Jets. The master
plan was presented in December 2005, and initial plans are for a 2010 opening.
The preliminary master plan places the new complex between the existing stadium and the
nearby Meadowlands racetrack, with links to a retail complex, new rail station, and the Xanadu
entertainment and retail complex now under construction near the Continental Arena. The goalposts
will be near the northern and southern ends of the stadium, as opposed to the current east-west
confi guration, and will include an atrium, a football hall of fame, team stores, restaurants and
conference space. The complex is slated to have as many as 200 luxury suites.
In addition to the stadium, the Giants will build a practice facility and headquarters in the extreme
western parking lot of the sports complex. Upon the completion of the 2.1-million- square-foot
stadium, the teams plan to build a 520,000-square-foot “ancillary component” that would feature
“the best of sports, entertainment, retail, sports medicine, health and fi tness, and sponsorship and
broadcast opportunities.”

By reducing the capacity of Chapman Stadium to 30,000 seats, fans
are provided a more intimate setting and the Golden Hurricane a more
intimidating home-fi eld. Major components of the renovation included
replacing the existing outdated pressbox, major sections of the west seating
bowl and replacing seats throughout. The new pressbox tower includes 20
suites over two levels and a 5,000-square-foot club lounge on the lower
level that serves 400 club seats directly outside. Improved television and
radio broadcast booths, writing press facilities, multiple camera locations,
upgraded accessibility features, food service amenities and public restrooms
are also additions to the stadium since last season.
The renovations to Chapman Stadium were squeezed into a very tight
schedule between the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 seasons. Demolition began
after the last game of the 2007-2008 season, construction began the fi rst
of the year and the fi rst game will be played less than 10 months from that
groundbreaking date.

Selected by Auburn University to provide architectural and interior design services for
a new basketball arena, 360 Architecture created a design to fulfi ll two critical campus
planning goals. The design links the arena with a high-traffi c campus corridor and the
university’s famed Jordan-Hare football stadium, helping to create a vital new center
of activity on the campus. In essence, though, the arena is all about tradition. While
respecting the past, it is designed to inspire new experiences that will add to Auburn’s
storied heritage.
Inside, the arena is designed to maximize the fan experience by providing a proximity to
the court rarely seen in athletic facilities. Another unique feature to the arena design is
the vertical arrangement of premium spaces. This allows patrons to enjoy the game and
also see and experience the environment outside from a variety of levels. The design con-
cept, termed the “southern porch,” refl ects and honors Auburn’s cultural environment.
Overall, the arena addresses the project’s critical elements for success by:
+ Refl ecting and extending Auburn University’s dominant architectural themes
+ Establishing a prominent presence for the arena
+ Complementing the communal attributes of the campus
+ Delivering state-of-the-art intimacy in a facility that is “uniquely Auburn”

360 Architecture was selected to create a unique ballpark that would have a different character and fan experience from the
other ballparks around the league. 360 was chosen to lead the design team due to demonstrated creativity, unique approach,
and extensive experience in a range of venues across the nation.
The ballpark and village will be developed on a 143-acre parcel in the City of Fremont. Groundbreaking for the baseball-only
facility, to be named Cisco Field, will start when the project gains approval from the City of Fremont, Alameda County and
other government agencies. The estimated cost for the ballpark is in the $400 million to $500 million range.
“Cisco Field is envisioned as more than a neighborhood ballpark. It will be the centerpiece of an entire new village,” said Brad
Schrock, Lead Designer and Principal at 360 Architecture. “Our design will seamlessly integrate the ballpark’s interior space
with the community and its activities. Likewise, the energy and communal spirit from the fi eld will fl ow throughout the village.”
While providing an intimate and compelling baseball experience, the ballpark is planned to be the most technologically
advanced sports facility in the nation. Innovations such as interactive kiosks and the ability to order concessions, even instant
replays, from fans’ seats promises to raise the experience of seeing a game to a new level of enjoyment and convenience.

percent of construction waste and using regional materials for construction.
The placement of Huntington Park and its open concourse create a visual connection
to downtown and the newly-developed Nationwide Arena District. Set six feet below
street level, the playing fi eld is visible from Nationwide Blvd. Also, overhead doors for
bars, balconies and suites open up to give fans expansive views of the Arena District

Located in downtown Columbus, Nationwide Arena is a landmark building
for the city and a catalyst for a 160-acre urban renewal and new develop-
ment project surrounding the area.
The arena’s design is derived from its convergence of city grids and strong
industrial context. Open concourses allow views, both to the seating bowl
and the surrounding Arena District, recalling traditional open-air ballpark
design. Glass is used in conjunction with brick and steel to preserve the
Arena District’s context. The seating bowl offers unique sponsorship op-
portunities to the NHL’s Blue Jackets by introducing two “media” towers
sponsored by FOX Sports and The Columbus Dispatch news media. The two
towers are created by four levels of vertically-stacked group sales suites
and give Nationwide Arena a “one of a kind” identity. This arena imple-
ments several other new premium seating concepts. There are 54 suites
intermixed with 26 loge boxes, and 500 rink-side lounge seats, to better
serve the marketplace.
Nationwide Arena also houses a smaller ice rink called the Dispatch Ice-
Haus (formerly named the CoreComm IceHaus). This facility serves as the
practice rink for the Blue Jackets and is also used for youth hockey games
and open skating times for the public. This facility makes Nationwide Arena
the first NHL arena with an on-site practice facility and one of only two such
facilities in NHL.

The Cordish Company of Baltimore, MD commissioned 360 Architecture and Beyer Blinder Belle to lead the design of
the Kansas City Power & Light mixed-use entertainment district. Seen as a major catalyst for continued revitalization of
Kansas City’s urban core, the district encompasses three-million square feet of space spread over seven city blocks and
includes offi ce, retail, entertainment and residential components.
The Cordish Company developed the project as part of a public-private partnership with the City of Kansas City and
Kansas City’s Economic Development Corporation. 360 Architecture served as architect-of-record, with Beyer Blinder
Belle of New York providing conceptual design services.
Building on the live-work-play model, the 20-acre Kansas City Power & Light district combines innovative architecture
with unique offi ce, retail and entertainment venues. In order to generate pedestrian interest and activity, the
development features open storefronts, broad sidewalks and extensive green space.
The Power & Light District is also home to the H&R World Headquarters, another 360
Architecture project, and the new Sprint Center Arena, for which 360 Architecture served as part of the Downtown
Arena Design Team (360 Architecture, Ellerbe Becket, HOK Sport, Rafael Architects, and Ron Posey Architects). 360’s

Designed by 360 Architecture, the Nationwide Arena served as a catalyst for the overall
resurgence of downtown Columbus. Since its successful opening in September of 2000,
numerous spawn projects have surfaced, all carefully considered within the urban plan for
this particular setting. To date, 360 Architecture has provided planning and design services
for the Arena District Multi-Use Offi ce Buildings, Arena Grand Theatre, Promowest Pavilion
Amphitheater, Ludlow Alley residential and retail spaces, Multi-Family Housing Project and
the Arena Crossing Lofts.
The Multi-Use Offi ce Buildings, located in a new dense urban block adjacent to the Nationwide
Arena, consist of three buildings totalling more than 300,000 square feet of offi ce and retail
space. They surround the block in the foreground of the Arena Grand Theatre. During the
master planning of the entire block, 360 Architecture carved pedestrian ways through the area
allocated for commercial use, defi ning separate buildings and providing access to the cinema.
The pedestrian ways are based on existing city grids and a strong visual, energetic connection
to the Arena and Theatre. Though distinct in their design, the buildings share a strong
industrial reference to warehouse structures that dominate the landscape. Detailing and form
of all of these projects emphasizes simplicity, with large rhythmic windows and tall ceilings,
creating a quality of space not commonly found in newly developed leasable space, whether
intended for residential, retail or offi ces.

easy walking distance is Huntington Park, future stadium of the Columbus Clippers minor-league

maximized the site footprint.
The Condominiums at North Bank Park – The Lofts represent inside-out design at its most ingenious
and functional.
The project is an adaptive reuse conversion of a commercial bakery into 21 loft-style residences with
enclosed parking. The brick-clad lofts are the companion piece to The Condominiums at North Bank
Park – The Tower.
Driven by a desire to support Kansas City’s downtown revitalization while consolidating staff into one location,
H&R Block relocated their World Headquarters. Design began with the development and evaluation of site options
based on the company’s goals for effi ciency, fl exibility, connectivity, collaboration and community.
The result is a 17-story elliptical glass tower, an iconic structure refl ecting H&R Block’s position as the world’s
largest tax services company. This distinctive building anchors the surrounding Kansas City Power & Light
Entertainment District.
H&R Block World Headquarters will ultimately house 2,100 employees in a collaborative, team-based
environment. In support of employee needs and the surrounding entertainment district, fi ve levels of under
building parking accommodate 1,000 cars, with 60 percent of this space available for public parking on evenings
and weekends. The low-rise portion of the complex includes a cafeteria, theater, conference rooms and retail
space. Additional building features include a two-story glass lobby with a 20-foot-tall natural stone “water wall,”
an outdoor plaza with water feature and a 25,000 square foot data center.
As part of its continuing community support, H&R Block shares a 330-seat theatre with the Kansas City Repertory

materials and systems integration. The building plan is organized into a central space located
on the line of an existing creek, with two separate wings branching out to the east and west that
enclose a central wooded area.
The building entry is the anchor of a grand civic plaza on the north, where the two arcades of
the building wings meet. The lobby opens up to a grand staircase, elevators and an integrated
water biofi lter demonstration display for educational purposes. A public arcade spans the
entire south facade on both levels and offers views to the woods and stream bed below. This

The project improved the functionality of the fi rm’s internal spaces while upgrading the offi ce’s
overall aesthetics. The centerpiece of the renovation, the 18,500 s.f. conference center,
consolidates the offi ce’s reception and public meeting spaces and incorporates state-of-the-art
technology, fl exible spaces for videoconferencing, mock trials, arbitration, mediation and other
client-related functions. The consolidation created premium space that not only shows Lathrop &
Gage’s commitment to quality, it also supports new talent recruitment and retention.
The conference center’s vistas are extraordinarily expansive, extending mostly unobstructed from
deep within the fl oorplate to the exposed windows and sweeping from one end of the building to
the other. Pockets of furniture and lighting create intimacy, and the use of African redwood, Italian
travertine and bronze detail adds warmth, resulting in a classic, elegant visage that complements
the Mies van der Rohe-designed building.
