1. Main Generators:Four Diesel generators Wartsila Model 7L32, output 3.5 MW, 6.6 kVAC, 50 Hertzs.One Diesel generator MAN model 18ASV25/30, output 3.4 MW, 6.6 kVAC, 50 Hertzs

2. Auxiliar Generator:Motor diesel Ruston model 6 AP 230Z, 800 KW, 400 VAC, 50 Hertzs.

3. Emergency Generator:Motor diesel Dorman model 12QZ, 200 KW, 440 VAC, 50 Hertzs.

4. Power supply:Power supply is produced by the high voltage switchboard, physically divided in three sections located in two adjacents rooms duly insolated by a fire bulkhead, the physical division on the main board is a “Bus” section.

Main construction design principle for the electrical system is that in case of loss of power risk, this posibilty is virtually reduced to zero. This in real time is achieved through several design elements, mainly is that in case of any possible extra request of power it should be supplied without overloading the electric generators and in such a case that extra request can not be cover completelly it should be reduced in an ordenated way, being power for propulsion and scencial services priority one.

There are totally automatic systems able to supply current power demand as well as power reduction in case of overload events. Those automatic systems are used in all circumstances unless a system failure by itself.

As the power demand increase and decrease, electric generators are turned on and off at certain load levels. Automatic adjustements are those that in case an electric generator must be turned off the remaining generators working load will not exceed 100% of their output.

Ballast system has been designed to operate at greater list angles and trim, it has a redoundancy in hydraulic and power supply failures. Vessel has four main ballast pumps with capacity 600 m3/hr each and two transferring pumps of 60 m3/hr each. Main ballast pumps are located at each pump room while transferring pumps are located at forward pumps rooms. Both transferring pumps are connected to the emergency operation panel in order to be able to run continuoslly at any moment in case of a failure in main power supply.

All ballast operation is controlled from Navigation bridge. In case of emergency, all six ballast pumps can pump out any water entering in the bilges section at pums room and be able to pump out a huge amount of water. ( Just in case some water entering on those spaces).
