Practice - Metal Silhouette

Competitors have the opportunity to practice engaging paper versions of Metallic Silhouette targets, without time restrictions.

DESCRIPTION The event is designed to allow shooters to practice components of the Handgun Metallic Silhouette match, using paper versions of full-size steel silhouette targets, to better prepare them for external competition. Chicken, Pig, Turkey or Ram targets are engaged at 50m. High-calibre handguns are permitted ONLY for holders of a Commissioner’s permit. The event is designed for Centrefire (up to and including .38 inch) and High Calibre (greater than .38 but not exceeding .45 inch) pistols. Whilst Rimfire firearms are eligible to attend this event, a separate Rimfire event is held at SMISC and scores are recorded for this calibre at that event only. Rimfire firearms should typically only be used as an introduction to this event. Additionally, shooters of Centrefire firearms will take priority over Rimfire attendees if the event is busy.

Given the practice aspect of the event, multiple handguns may be used however only scores from one pistol, representing the lowest cumulative score, shall be recorded. The course of fire is: chickens, pigs, turkeys and Rams. Given the range limitations, scaled targets will be used and all targets are set to 50m. 10 rounds are to be shot at each target with participant able to return target after the first 5 rounds to inspect shot placement. A shot placed anywhere in the silhouette will represent a score of 1 point, with a maximum of 10 points per target set and 40 points for the event total. Pistol and event classes; •Standing production; as the name suggests, in the standing position using one or both hands and is shot with

a pistol or revolver that complies with the rules of the Production category (open sights).

•Standing Unlimited; Standing Unlimited is shot using any pistol (including optical sights) with a maximum

barrel length and sight radius of 381mm (15”).

•Whilst sighting in and load testing may occur in alternate shooting positions and target distances, these scores are NOT to be recorded.
