AccomplishmentsAt age 21, Prince Henry led a military force that captured the Muslim outpost of Ceuta. At age 24, he founded a school for sailing and exploring at Cape St. Vincent in Portugal.The school included libraries, an astronomical observatory, ship building facilities, a chapel, and housing.

AccomplishmentsHenrys schools purpose was to teach navigational techniques to Portuguese sailors, to collect geographical information, to develop new navigational equipment, and to sponsor expeditions.The school wanted to spread Christianity as well. Although Prince Henry did not sail on his expeditions, he became known as Prince Henry the Navigator because of his school.
