SpectraSensors SS500 has a lower detection limit of 2 lbs per Million SCF Natural Gas. Other than the reduced detection limit, the SS500 has all the benefits of the SS2000 including:
RELIABLE AND TRUSTWORTHY MEASUREMENTS
Analysis software measures the amount of laser light absorbed by water molecules. This very sensitive method provides reliable readings because of the very specific wavelength that is being analyzed.
FAST RESPONSE TIME
The laser, detector, software and electronics are extremely fast. 4 measurements are taken every second. The display updates every 0.25 to 2 seconds (adjustable).
NO CONSUMABLES
The SS-Series sensor heads do not need regular in-field or factory calibration. The sensor heads do not need to be periodically reconditioned. The sensor does not make contact with the gas so it does not get contaminated.
NO INTERFERENCE
Gases such as methanol, amines and glycol are not a problem for the SS Series product line because of the “line-spectroscopy” technique that is employed. The technique relies on information at very narrow wavelength ranges where the water spectrum is completely isolated.
PAYBACK
A short payback period can be realized by eliminating the cost of consumables, extra sensor heads, and the labor and overhead associated with excessive maintenance. Additionally, intangible (but real) costs associated with unreliable gas measurements can be reduced. For example, added processing steps, poor gas quality and the possibility of costly damage to equipment can result from sensors that produce incorrect data. The potential savings easily justify the need for a reliable, fast and maintenance free solution such as the SpectraSensors SS500 moisture analyzer.

SpectraSensors SS1000 Portable MoistureAnalyzer is a highly mobile, battery-powered moistureor carbon dioxide analyzer utilizing the same extraordinary sensor technology as the SS2000. Theinstrument is designed for convenience and allowsfor fast and easy measurements in the field.
The SS-Series analyzers take measurements4 times per second with a laser and detector
and average the results. The laser does not contactthe gas, so these real-time measurements are nothampered by wet-ups or dry-downs as with surfaced-based sensors.
Using state-of-the-art technologydeveloped by NASA/JPL, the SS-Series
analyzers are more reliable and repeatable than surface based sensors and not subject to the interpretation errors of a chilled mirror.
The portable units are designed for fast hookups andcontain their own power supply. Commonly, theportable is used to verify measurements and for spot-checking when other methods provide questionableresults. In applications such as natural gas pipelines or petrochemical process control, poor quality measurement results are extremely costly. For example, additional processing or dehydration costs, upsetconditions, shut-ins, and inconsistent process resultsmay be caused by sensors that do not performproperly. The SS1000 can reveal poorly performingsensors, pinpoint high moisture or low BTU sourcesand can be used as a standard for measurement validation.
SpectraSensors has combined our special lasers
with control electronics and "smart" software tocreate an analyzer that requires no sensor element
in contact with the sample gas stream. The result isan analyzer which does not suffer from contaminationor drift due to vapor impurities such as glycol, methanol, amines, hydrogen sulfide, or mercaptans.
The SS1000 sensor heads are not subjected to corrosives or contaminants
in the gas stream because the sensor is a photonicdevice that is isolated from the actual gas. A quick pay-back period can be realized by eliminating the cost ofconsumables, extra sensor heads, factory calibrations, and the labor and overhead associated with excessivemaintenance. Moreover, the problems caused by unreliable gas measurements such as added processingsteps and poor gas quality can be eliminated by usingthe SS1000.These savings easily justify the need for areliable, fast and maintenance free solution such as theSpectraSensors SS1000 portable analyzer.

However, the chilled mirrors requiredskilled experts to operate and the results were highlyscattered (large standard deviation).

The SS2100 is an exceptionally reliable gas analyzerused to measure trace levels of gas components usingTunable Laser Diode Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS).This technology is a form of infrared spectroscopy inwhich the light source is a diode laser, giving theSS2100 the benefit of long life, simplicity and reliability.Additionally, the SS2100 utilizes an high-resolutiontechnique that allows it to measure specific gases withvery high accuracy.
The SS2100 analyzers take measurements 4 times pet second with a laser and detector andaverages the results. These real-time measurements arenot hampered by wet-ups (absorption) or dry-downs(desorption) as with surfaced-based sensors because the laser does not contact the gas.
The SS2100 comes with analog, serial, and Modbusoutputs as well as a functionally intuitive touchpad andLCD screen interface. Installation is as easy as pluggingit in and turning it on because there are no start upcalibrations or procedures. SpectrumPlot softwareprovides easy-to-analyze text and graphics on laptopor desktop PC computers.
The analyzer is available in a single-channel (SS2100) ordual-channel (SS2200) package and each channel canbe configured for a variety of measurements. Anassortment of sample cell lengths and tunable laserwavelengths provide sensitivity in the parts-per-billionfor many applications in the refining, natural gas, bulkgas, semiconductor, and environmental monitoringindustries. Components that can be measured includemoisture (H2O), carbon monoxide/dioxide (CO & CO2),ammonia (NH3), nitric oxide (NO), hydrochloric acid(HCI), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), ethylene oxide (ETO),hydrofluoric acid (HF), methane (CH4), Oxygen (O2) andmore.
Trustworthy measurements are vital in process analytical applications. TheSS2100 does not require regular maintenance and calibration or periodic replacement parts due to the inherent characteristics of TDLAS technology. Becausethe measurement is the percent of absorbed light thattravels through a gas sample, the sensor is unaffectedby contaminants and corrosives.
The analyzer measures a spectral feature that can be displayed as a peak. The software uses “peak tracking”to maintain the center of the peak which eliminates thepossibility of drift.
The diode laser is a solid-state semiconductor device. The useful life of the laser is many times longer thanincandescent sources. The instrument has no choppersor other moving parts to replace.

SpectraSensors SS3000Moisture – Carbon DioxideDual Channel Gas Analyzer
The SpectraSensors SS3000 Moisture orCarbon Dioxide Analyzer is a dual channel version of the SS2000.The analyzer is capable ofmeasuring moisture or carbon dioxide or bothusing the SpectraSensors tunable laser technology. The features and benefits of theSS2000 are packaged in a cost effective dualchannel system saving customers more byincorporating two sensors in one.
TRUSTWORTHY MEASUREMENTS
The SS-Series analyzers utilize the same highlyreliable and extremely accurate method as theSS2000 gas analyzer. Since the measurementsare made without contacting the sample gas, corrosive compounds cannot affect the sensorhead. Additionally, the sensor readings are notadversely affected by methanol, amine or glycol contaminants.
Dependable data is an essential element in thequest for improved safety and quality. NaturalGas companies constantly strive for theseimprovements as well as continuous reductionsin cost. The SS3000 enables it all by providingdependable readings in a multi-sensor package.

Water absorption spectra in natural gas:The graph shows several moisture spectra in natural gas.The higher the concentration of moisture or carbon dioxide, the more absorption of light, and the stronger the corresponding absorption signal. The SpectraSensors software analyzes these absorption peaks to produce veryaccurate and repeatable measurements. Since the calculationis a direct, fundamental measurement, the amount of H2O or CO2 present can be measured very fast. There are no wet-up or dry-down delays like those associated with surface-based sensors.
