    Objective: Community Ethnography is an essential add-on to the context of

    unique mentoring program Abhyudaya-SPJIM! It helps in ha"ing an in-depth

    My mentee San*ana is the eldest child of her parents! She is a "ery happy to go

    luc&y girl yet rm in her thoughts! .er father #or&s in the house&eeping

    department of Panasonic #hile #or&s as a chef for a *uice centre in /o&hand#ala!

    0he academic qualication of her parents are Class , pass! San*ana has three

    siblings% younger sister #ho studies in 1th Standard% younger brother in 2th

    Standard $ the youngest girl of the house in 3 rdStandard! San*an $ her younger

    sister study in a pri"ate school #ith an approx! monthly fees of s!456! 7hile her

    brother $ youngest sister study in a public municipal school near to their house

    #herein fees are exempted! Sana*ana8s parents are "ery particular about their

    children8s education and co-operate in all means to pro"ide them #ith the best

    they can!

    0hey stay in the 2th9oor of a building under :ombay Slum ede"elopment Corp!

    /td! Along #ith San*ana8s grandmother! It is a one room 9at o#ned by San*ana8s

    family! 0here are around 2 buildings in the locality #ith ;2 9ats per 9oor and a

    total of < 9oors! 0he 9ats in their apartment are rented as #ell as o#ned by

    people!

    "ommnity Facilities in the #eighborhoo!

    0he electricity connection is by eliance and their monthly consumption is

    around s!;666! 7ater is supplied by municipality e"ery day in the morning for

    t#o hours #hich is then stored in a o"erhead tan& for usage throughout the day!

    0hey pay a monthly maintenance charge of s!=66 e"ery month! 0he grocery

    shopping is done from a nearby &irana store once in a month preferably!

    San*ana8s father goes #ith the list to the store $ pays in ad"ance to get the

    items deli"ered to their house! >or any health related issues% the "isit a nearby

    clinic located next to their building $ also has a medical store opposite to it! 0hey

    ha"e three mobiles in the house and generally recharge them from a cyber caf?

    *ust next to their apartment! All day to day "egetables $ other items are shopped

    from the sab@i mandi next to their apartment! E"en some "egetable thelawalas

    also come near their building on a daily basis! San*ana and her siblings play in a

    cric&et ground in front of their building! Community function li&e +anesh tsa"%

    Mahashi"ratri% Bahi .andi% (a"ratri are celebrated in this ground by collecting

    chanda!

    #ith a decorator group #hile #ife $ mother run a &irana store in their house

    itself! Another family in their family comprising father% mother $ three children

    earn their li"elihood primarily through "egetable selling $ a small grocery store!

    0he &ids in the building are mostly of san*an8s age and they share a "ery #arm

    relationship among themsel"es! 0hough their abode is small but the emotional

    bonding is intact!
