DAILY EXCELSIOR, JAMMU TUESDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2016 (PAGE 9) Govt must clarify DPs' quantum of relief: JKSAC Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Dec 19: The Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) has said that Government should clar- ify the quantum of relief to be paid to each family and remove doubt among the displaced persons. A meeting of the refugee fam- ilies was held at Gobindpura, Simbal Camp on Sunday, where all the DP' of adjoining Basti's participated and discussed various important and pressing issues per- taining to the disbursement of instant package of Rs 2000 crore for DP's of 1947 from POK and other categories. The DPs in the meeting raised their doubts and criticized the Govt for not clarify- ing the quantum of relief to be paid by Govt and also difficulties they are facing while obtaining the certified copies of requisite documents from the PRO office, Jammu. Addressing the meeting Gurdev Singh, president assured the participants that JKSAC is committed and struggling hard for the resolution of one time settle- ment and other demands raised by participants concerning the pack- age. He said that there is an imper- ative need to strive hard upon the Coalition Govt to decide and announce the quantum of relief to be paid to DP's for their left over properties in PoK along with other components, when the JPC con- stituted by Govt itself has very clearly submitted its recommen- dation to the Govt. He cautioned the DP's that until and unless they will not strive hard and show their strength, they shall not be able to achieve the target of Rs 30 lakh and other components recom- mended by JPC. Accusing the State Govt of ignoring their long pending legitimate issue he warned that the DP's will launch an agitation if their issues are not addressed properly within next three months. He appealed to DP's that the final notification has not yet issued by the Govt and they should not fill up any kind of form at the behest of vested interests who are hell bent to exploit their innocence for their personal motives instead they should obtain the copies of requisite doc- uments from PRO office. He cau- tioned the DP's not to fall in the trap. The prominent who spoke in the meeting included Niraml Singh Kranti, Harbans Singh, Darshan Singh, Ajaib Singh and Tarlok Singh. DPs should now focus on final goal: Chuni Excelsior Correspondent RAJOURI, Dec 19: The chairman of SOS International, an organization for PoK displaced persons, Rajiv Chuni today said that displaced families should now shun celebrations and focus on the final goal. Addressing a rally of DPs here today, the refugee leader said that the meager relief of Rs 2000 crore has not come overnight; it is the outcome of years of continu- ous efforts of SOS International. The tiny relief announced is not success but just a beginning to reach towards our ultimate goal. "If this process of providing justice carries on with this momentum, I don't think it will be accomplished by next two gener- ations. People are celebrating and considering it as their success but I would like to tell them, it is not success but mere a step forward. PoK refugees should focus on their final goal instead of cele- brating it," he added. " Our children's future is in doldrums. We have to rise and explore opportunities so that our children's future can be protect- ed," he stated. Chuni further said that there is a very large vote bank of PoK refugees as they are 12 lakh in numbers. Over ten lakh are residing in Jammu & Kashmir State and rest two lakhs in vari- ous parts of the country. " Every time, PoK refugees were used by various political parties. In Parliamentary and Assembly elections, PoK refugees have not been accommodated. Once we get united, all political parties will realize our strength," he added On the occasion Pt Sita Ram Sharma was declared as president for district Poonch of SOS International. The major points raised dur- ing rally included early release of rest of the amount and implemen- tation of other components of PoK DPs package recommended by the State Cabinet in October 2014, 5300 families of PoK dis- placed persons settled outside the State must be included in this package, Constitute Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Poonch Scouts, constitute a separate committee for disbursements of relief to 1947 PoK DPs consist- ing of distinguish Government officers besides, members from registered NGOs working for the welfare of PoK DPs, constitute a PoK Displaced Persons Development Board, reserve seats for PoK displaced persons J&K in Legislative Assembly and Council etc. Capt Ravinder Kumar, Sharda Devi, Vijay Guru, Shiv Kumar, Rajinder Kumar, Pt. SRTC workers protest, oppose hiring pvt trucks by CAPD Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Dec 19: The SRTC workers today held strong protest at the Corporation com- plex, on Railway Road here today against the decision of the CAPD Department to hire pro- vide trucks on commission basis for the transportation of food grains in the State. The CAPD workers, under the banner of Jammu & Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation Workers Union, led by Wajahat Hussain- chairman and Ashok Mehra , vice chair- man assembled in the office complex of Managing Director SRTC here and started protest demonstration. They were strongly opposing the decision of the Govt and especially the CAPD Department, to hire pri- vate trucks, by ignoring SRTC fleet in violation of SRO -157. The Union leaders Wajahat Hussain, Ashok Mehra and Paramjit Singh- president, claimed that as per SRO, it is mandatory for the CAPD to hire SRTC fleet for this purpose, but some people in the Government by misleading Cabinet managed to get an order issued in this regard to provide benefit to their favourite transporters. They urged upon the Chief Minister to intervene and with- draw this order otherwise, SRTC workers would launch indefinite agitation. They further said that It was declared by the Govt to purchase 200 new buses and 300 trucks for the SRTC and it was also declared in the Assembly by the minister concerned but even after one year nothing has been visible on the ground. They said that Government must honour its commitment to strengthen SRTC fleet. The CAPD is said to be going for issuing tenders for hiring trucks but the SRTC will strongly oppose this move, they maintained. The SRTC Workers Union held protest dharna for about three hours and warned to con- tinue the same if the Govt failed to review its decision. They said that SRTYC is already facing financial crisis and trucks were engaged with CAPD just to improve its condition but this decision of new Govt would again bring the Corporation in much losses providing benefit to their favourites. They suspected connivance of some top CAPD officials and a few wealthy transporters in this deal. JKFFA pays tributes to martyrs Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Dec 19: Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) paid floral tributes to Army personnel who sacrificed their lives for the sake of nation while on duty today. Association also remembered Shaheed Ashfaq Ullah Khan, a martyr who worked along with Netaji Subash Chander Bose and a colleague of late Madan Mohan Malvia, in a function held on his 89th Death Anniversary at Dogra Shaurya Sthamb, Amphalla, here. The programme was organ- ised under the chairmanship of JKFFA President Ved Gandotra. The Indian soldiers were mar- tyred while militants attacked on their convoy at Pampore in Srinagar yesterday. "We the people of Jammu and Kashmir salute them for their bravery as they fought with strong will and for the cause of our nation," Gandotra said. Speakers expressed their anguish over the cowardly act of Pak sponsored militant groups. A two-minute silence was also observed in the memory of all those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of nation. Paying tributes to Ashfaq Ullah Khan, the members high- lighted his life history who in a small span of life served the country. He was born in 1900 and was hanged by the British in 1927. As the story opens, Ravi, a student of Class 9th asks his par- ents to get a motorbike for him. Ravi creates a problem for his parents. Ravi's younger sister, Minu, is intelligent and she is totally against Ravi's demand and explains Ravi that being underage he cannot drive any kind of vehicle till he attains proper age for driving with proper licenses. She tries hard to convince Ravi to let up his demand of get- ting a motorbike but all in vain. Finally, Ravi's grandfather inter- venes and informs Ravi that today a minor boy who was driving bike met with an acci- dent, as he lost control on his speeding bike. He further informed that the bike was sealed by authorities and the boy despite of some minor injuries was taken to police station along with his par- ents. Moreover, a big fine was imposed and his parents were given warning for this illegal act. Hearing grandfather's words, Ravi loses his temptation for bike and realizes that his demand is not genuine. He promises his grandfather and sister that he will never demand a bike before he attains the legal age for driving. The employees, under the banner of Non-Teaching Employees Union, JU, are protesting against non fulfill- ment of their long pending demanding. Amidst raising of slogans, the agitating executive appealed the Vice-Chancellor to consider their genuine demands and also threatened to intensify the struggle if no action is taken on their issues. Speakers on the occasion highlighted the demands, which included creation of Posts, fully computerization of Administration and Accounts sections, re-designation of tech- nical and isolated categories, removal of pay anomalies etc. They alleged that some negative elements in the JU administra- tion were misleading the Vice- Chancellor over their genuine demands and thus creating trou- ble on the campus for their vest- ed interests. JKLTF demands release of pending salaries of SSA teachers Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Dec 19: All Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers' Federation (JKLTF) today demanded the Government to release the salaries of SSA teachers that are pending for last six months. The issue was discussed dur- ing a meeting of the Federation held here today at Bhalwal under the chairmanship of JKLTF president, Mohan Singh Rakwal. The members of the Federation criticized the State Government for not releasing the salaries of SSA teachers for last six months and demanded that their pending salary be released immediately. They further said that teach- ers working under RMSA, SSA and NPS schemes are not getting salaries regularly. "Moreover, service book records of the Teacher/Master working in the Zone has not been completed by the concerned ZEO", the mem- bers said. The speakers further informed the meeting that GP fund statements of the teachers have not been issued for last 10 years and teachers working has not been confirmed even after the order issued by Director School Education Jammu (DSEJ). She advised the elders totake balanced diet, comprisingof cereals, pulses, milk, rootsand tubers, green leafy vegeta-bles, fruits, sugar and fats / oilvisible. She also explained themto adopt proper diet at bed time,breakfast, mid morning, lunch,evening, dinner and bed time.

General tips for senior citi-zens were also narrated as: eat awell - balanced diet and regular-ly timed meals consisting of avariety of foods, eat many dif-ferent colors and types of veg-etables and fruits, Include rawvegetables, salad, or raw fruit atmeals to prolong eating times,choose whole- grain, high fiberbreads, rice, and cereals toincrease bulk, take simple butnutritious diet, take small fre-quent meals, avoid fried foods,take semisolid food and plentyof fluids, reduce total fats andrefined reduce salt intake, avoidfasting, maintain good socialand psychological environmentfor normal health, do regularphysical exercise like briskwalking ( if can afford or go forwalk ) and avoid inactivity, lone-liness and social isolation.

JAMMU, Dec 19: Jammuand Kashmir Freedom FightersAssociation (JKFFA) paid floraltributes to Army personnel whosacrificed their lives for the sakeof nation while on duty today.

Association also rememberedShaheed Ashfaq Ullah Khan, amartyr who worked along withNetaji Subash Chander Bose anda colleague of late Madan MohanMalvia, in a function held on his89th Death Anniversary at DograShaurya Sthamb, Amphalla, here.

The programme was organ-ised under the chairmanship ofJKFFA President Ved Gandotra.

The Indian soldiers were mar-tyred while militants attacked ontheir convoy at Pampore inSrinagar yesterday.

"We the people of Jammu andKashmir salute them for theirbravery as they fought withstrong will and for the cause ofour nation," Gandotra said.

Speakers expressed theiranguish over the cowardly act ofPak sponsored militant groups.

A two-minute silence wasalso observed in the memory of

all those who sacrificed theirlives for the sake of nation.

Paying tributes to AshfaqUllah Khan, the members high-lighted his life history who in asmall span of life served thecountry. He was born in 1900and was hanged by the British in1927.

The members appealed to thepeople to shun love for moneyand struggle for maintainingintegrity and sovereignty of thenation.

They also asked Governmentofficers and the corrupt leadersto shun corrupt practices and fol-low the path shown by the mar-tyrs and work for the welfare ofthe masses and contributetowards prosperity of the moth-erland.

As the story opens, Ravi, astudent of Class 9th asks his par-ents to get a motorbike for him.Ravi creates a problem for hisparents. Ravi's younger sister,Minu, is intelligent and she istotally against Ravi's demandand explains Ravi that beingunderage he cannot drive anykind of vehicle till he attainsproper age for driving withproper licenses.

She tries hard to convinceRavi to let up his demand of get-ting a motorbike but all in vain.Finally, Ravi's grandfather inter-venes and informs Ravi thattoday a minor boy who was

driving bike met with an acci-dent, as he lost control on hisspeeding bike.

He further informed that thebike was sealed by authoritiesand the boy despite of someminor injuries was taken topolice station along with his par-ents. Moreover, a big fine wasimposed and his parents weregiven warning for this illegalact.

Hearing grandfather's words,Ravi loses his temptation forbike and realizes that hisdemand is not genuine. Hepromises his grandfather andsister that he will never demanda bike before he attains the legalage for driving.

The nukkad is warning forthose parents who encouragetheir minor children for drivingbikes.

Students, parishioners andchoir troupe members, dressedin colourful fineries, paintedthe Church in Christmas hueand brought alive the nativityscene through the sprightlycompetition, which is held eachyear in the loving memory of(Late) Fr. Raphael Jeykumar.

The curtain of the spiritedcompetition was lifted with thehoisting of traditionalChristmas Star by Rt. Rev. IvanPereira, the Bishop of Jammu-Srinagar Diocese. JAMMU, Dec 19: In order to carry out repair work of conduc-tor at location No.142-43 near Khanpur alongwith other routinemaintenance works of transmission line and Grid StationJhajjarkotli, the shutdown of 132 KV Janipur-Jhajjarkotli-Udhampur Transmission line is being observed.

During the shutdown, the power supply being fed from 2x31.5MVA, 132/33 KV Grid Station Jhajjar Kotli to areas such as Katra,Reasi, Phalata, Jindrah, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Salal-I & II will remain affected on December 23 from 10 am to 2 pm.

Similarly, to carry out works by Executive Engineer, Sub-Transmission Division-II, Jammu, the shutdown of 33 KV Canal-Satwari line is being observed.

During the shutdown, the power supply to Satwari, Nai Basti,Ashok Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Digiana, Airport, Satwari Cantt.Airforce Campus and its adjoining areas will remain affected onDecember 20 from10 am to 1 pm.

JU Non-Teaching employees continue their token protest

JAMMU, Dec 19:Continuing their token protestfor the sixth consecutive day,Jammu University Non-Teaching employees suspendedwork for two hours and held astrong demonstration in front ofthe Vice-Chancellor'sSecretariat, here today.

The employees, under thebanner of Non-TeachingEmployees Union, JU, areprotesting against non fulfill-ment of their long pendingdemanding. Amidst raising ofslogans, the agitating executiveappealed the Vice-Chancellor toconsider their genuine demandsand also threatened to intensifythe struggle if no action is takenon their issues.

Speakers on the occasionhighlighted the demands, whichincluded creation of Posts, fullycomputerization of

Administration and Accountssections, re-designation of tech-nical and isolated categories,removal of pay anomalies etc.They alleged that some negativeelements in the JU administra-tion were misleading the Vice-Chancellor over their genuinedemands and thus creating trou-ble on the campus for their vest-ed interests.

JKLTF demands release ofpending salaries of SSA teachers

JAMMU, Dec 19: AllJammu, Kashmir and LadakhTeachers' Federation (JKLTF)today demanded theGovernment to release thesalaries of SSA teachers that arepending for last six months.

The issue was discussed dur-ing a meeting of the Federationheld here today at Bhalwalunder the chairmanship ofJKLTF president, Mohan SinghRakwal. The members of theFederation criticized the StateGovernment for not releasingthe salaries of SSA teachers forlast six months and demandedthat their pending salary bereleased immediately.

They further said that teach-ers working under RMSA, SSA

and NPS schemes are not gettingsalaries regularly. "Moreover,service book records of theTeacher/Master working in theZone has not been completed bythe concerned ZEO", the mem-bers said.

The speakers furtherinformed the meeting that GPfund statements of the teachershave not been issued for last 10years and teachers working hasnot been confirmed even afterthe order issued by DirectorSchool Education Jammu(DSEJ).

While speaking on the occa-sion, Rakwal said that matterwill be brought into the notice ofDSEJ and all the issues of theteachers working in the zonewill be sorted out within a shortspan of time.
