BASICDETAILOFSRIYANTRA.Sri Yantra is a symbolic representation of the Devi Lalita/Tripura Sundari. At the creation of theuniverse,LordShivadelivered64Yantrasforthematerialisticandspiritualwelfareofthecreatures.ForHisconsortDeviParvati,Heprovided,SriChakra(Yantra),whichcombinesalltheYantrasintoone.AssuchworshipofSriChakraisconsideredasoneofthehighestformsofworshipoftheDevi(SriVidya).ItisworshippedbyconsideringtheSriChakramainlyinthreeparts. Theoutermost3 linesknownasBhupura. It symbolizes thegroundplaneof templewith4
Squareopenings,inthe4directionsofspace.Thissanctuaryistheseat(Pitha)ofoneschosendeity(IstaDevata),representingonesHigherSelf.
Twoconcentriccircles,wearingregular lotus(Padma)design.The innerpatternhasaperiod
of8,Theouteroneaperiodof16.Thesepatternssymbolizethesanctityoftheinnerdiagram. Aninnerfigureofinterpenetratingtriangles.Thisfigure,Symmetricinitsverticalcentralaxis,
contains4upwardpointingtriangles(Vahini,ThePerson)and5downwardpointingtriangles(Sakti, Prakriti, i.e. Energy of divinity). From the 5 downward pointing triangles (Shakti,Energy of divinity) comes creation and from the 4 upward pointing triangles (Vahini, ThePerson representing Siva) comes the dissolution. Their interpenetration symbolizes thecomplementarityofoppositeprinciples increating the illusionofduality through ignorance,whereasthegeneralsymmetryandbalanceofthewholefiguresymbolizesthemoreprofoundrealityofUnityofGodthroughitsvariousunfolding.
AtthecentreofthebinduoftheShriYantraisKamakala,whichhasthreebindus.Oneisred,oneiswhiteandoneismixed.TheredbinduisKurukullatheFemaleform(Energy,Shakti),thewhitebindu isVarahi theMale form (Shiva,Sadhaka),and themixedbindu is theunionofShiva&ShaktitheindividualasthepotentialShriYantra.

TheSriYantra iscomposedofnineChakraorAwarna,countingfromtheouterplaneoftheBindu.Theninechakrassymbolically indicatedsuccessivephase intheprocessofbecoming.Theyrank from theearthlyplaneandriseslowlystepbystep to the finalpoint,thestepofsupremejoy.ByenteringintotheelanvitaloftheYantra,theadeptreintegratedwithit.Thenine chakraswithin SriYantramove from thegrossand tangible to the sublimeand subtlerealms.TherearenineChakrasorAvarnasthatareasbelow.

1. TrilokyamohanaChakra:
Theoutermostperipheryconsistsofasquare,withfourgates.ThisisBhupura,thegroundplane, of Sri Yantra. Inside the square there are three concentric circles, indicates ofgirdles(mekhala).ThespacebetweentheBhupuraandMekhalaistheTrailokyaMohana,theEnchantressof theTripleWorld.At thisstage theadept is infatuatedbyaspirationsanddesires.
2. SarvaswaparipurakaChakra:3. SarvasankshobhanaChakra:
Next two concentric rings of 16& 8 lotus petals, respectively. Each petal in the circleindicatingfulfillmentofdesires.
4. SarvasoubhagyadayakChakra:This is giver of auspiciousness, projects the realm of possibilities in spiritual ascent. Itconsists of fourteen triangles forming the outer rim of the complex interlocking oftriangles.
5. SarvarthsadhakaChakra:6. SarvarakshakaraChakra:
These two Chakras each constructed of ten triangles.Accomplisher of all purpose andgiverofprotection,theyindicateastagewheninnerrealizationbeginstodawn.

7. SarvarogaharaChakra:
This isremoverofalldesiresand ills,andrepresentsthestagewhentheadept isfreefromearthlybondsandisatthethresholdoftheinnercircleofrealization.Thischakraconsistsofeighttriangles.
8. SarvasiddhipradaChakra:
The invert trangle is theeighth chakra,giverofallaccomplishments; itdenotesa stagebeforetheconsummationofrealization.
9. SarvanandamayaChakra:
ThelastChakra,theBindu,fullofbliss.It isthesanctumsanctorum,abounding injoy, inwhichtheadeptparticipatesinunion.Thepointislightitself,beyondallcolours.

Rajarajeswari is the presiding deity of Sri Chakra she is themother of love and grace.Allsentient and insentient being are linked to, and dependent upon her power for theirexistence.She isthepersonificationoftheDivinedesiretocreatetheuniverseandalsotheDivinedesire tomerge the creationback into theultimateBhraman (God the father).Thistwofolddesireisthebasisoflove,thevivifyingbondthattiestheCreatorandthecreated.Shecontrolsourmindsandsensoryorgansandholdsthekeytotranscendentalknowledge.Sheresidesonthetopofthehead(Sahasrara),andalsointhesecondchakra(Swadisthana).She ishaving forhandsand threeeyes.Shewields inher fourhands thenoose, thegoad ,sugarcanebow,andfivefloweredarrows.HerthreeeyesareSun,Moonandfirerepresentingthe three triads in creation.Her crown isdecoratedwith the crescentmoon the symbolofdivinedelight.Thenoose representsstrongdeterminationand lovebywhichShebinds thewholecreation.Thegoad is the symbolof thepowerofknowledge; it is thewrathof fieryemotionsbywhichthewholecreationisspurredintoactivity.Thesugarcanestemdepictsthemindprincipleofman.Thefivefloweredarrowsarethefivetanmatras,sound,touch,form,tasteandsmellthesourceofthefiveelements.Sheishavingthreeforms,thegrossphysicalform(sthulasharira),subtleastralform,(sukshmasharira)andthecausalarchetypalformofthemacrocosmandmicrocosmiccreation.WhenSheismeditatedupon,thisultimateenergy,inthefirstandsecondchakra(Muladharaand Swadhisthana) the sadhaka (spiritual aspirant) isperforming internal fire sacrifice. SriYantraisarepresentationofsomepersonificationoraspectofthedivine,amodelfortheworshipofdivinityimmediatelywithintheheart,aftertheparaphernaliaofoutwarddevotionhave been discarded by the advance initiate, a kind of chart or schedule for the gradualevaluationofthevision,while identifyingtheselfwith itsslowlyvaryingcontents,that istosay,with thedivinity in theall itsphaseof transformation. In this case theYantracontainsdynamicelements.Itistheinstrumentdesigntocurbthepsychicforcesbyconcentratingthemonapattern,andinsuchaway thispatternbecomes reproducedby theworshipersvisualizingpower.
