Florida House Bill 7197

• Increased student eligibility

FLVS will serve K-12 full-time students and 4-12 students part-time directly

Part-time 4-5 students are limited to public school students taking grade 6-8 for acceleration purposes but limited to 1.0 FTE between FLVS and the school district

Students enrolled full-time in an FLVS program during the prior school year are eligible

Students entering kindergarten or first grade are eligible without having to meet the requirements for prior year enrollment

Florida House Bill 7197

• Elementary Principals must notify parents of students who score 4 or 5 on FCAT reading or math of acceleration courses offered through FLVS

• FLVS will receive a school grade for students receiving full-time instruction

Florida House Bill 7197

• Every student will be required to complete an online course before graduation beginning with incoming 9th grade students in 2011-12

• For courses requiring an end of course exam, FLVS funding will be tied to the end of course exam results beginning in 2014-15

• State-wide end of course exams are required to be online by 2014-15

Florida House Bill 7197

• FLVS may contract with full-time blended charter schools and full-time virtual charter schools

• Districts receiving sparsity supplements must provide at least one (1) virtual instruction option, all other districts must provide at least three (3)

• Students are permitted to take online courses in another district under certain circumstances

• Increased qualifications and accountability standards for approved virtual providers

• Adjunct teaching certification
