1. How to lodge your Business Activity Statement (BAS), VALUE-Added Tax (VAT) and Business Tax Return online To lodge the BAS, VAT Return, Business Tax Return and Payroll online, businesses need to have access to

the e-service facility which is accessible on the government e-service gateway at

https://eservice.egov.sc/egateway/homepage.aspx. The link is also available from the SRC’s website

(www.src.gov.sc).

1.1 How to access the e-service? To access the e-service, businesses will need to register for an e-ID, password and access code.

Registration can be done at the Seychelles Revenue Commission’s Advisory Centre Maison Collet or at the

Seychelles Pension Fund Complex on Grand Anse Praslin. For overseas companies, to register for an e-ID, password and access code, kindly submit your details, minimum of Company Name, Type of Company, Contact Name, Contact Email Address, A valid passport number to [email protected]. Step 1: Using the e-ID, password and access code received upon registration, click on ‘Register as an

organisation’ and login to your ‘organisation e-services’ on the Government E-Service Gateway.

Step 2: The first time you logon to the E-Service Gateway, you will be asked to change your organisation

password and provide a security question and answer.

Enter the new password, the security question and the security answer and click ‘Save’.

NB: If you are already using the e-service facility to upload your payroll, skip this step (Step 2). You

should use the same e-ID, password and access code provided to you upon registration to file your

documents online.

The ‘Organisation Account’ page will be displayed.

Step 3: Click on the ‘Taxation e-Service’ link.

2. Filing your Business Activity Statement (BAS)

2.1 Accessing & Filing the Business Activity Statement

Step 1: From the Taxation e-Service homepage, click on ‘BAS Lodgement’ under the ‘Do it Online’

section under ‘My Account’.

The BAS Lodgement History page will be displayed.

Step 2: Click on ‘New BAS’ at the bottom of the page.

The Business Activity Statement (BAS) will be displayed.

2.2 Lodging your payroll Step 3: Under the Income and Non-Monetary Benefits Tax (INMBT) section of the BAS form, key in all the

details required and the total INMBT to be remitted will automatically be calculated.

Step 4: Once this section has been completed, click on the ‘browse’ button to attach your payroll.

Please ensure that your payroll is in the correct format. The Taxation E-Service only accepts payroll in the

XML format. This can be downloaded from the SRC’s website (www.src.gov.sc) or you can be obtained

from the SRC’s Advisory Centres.

Submission of payroll can also be done at the Seychelles Pension Fund.

2.3 Filing your VAT return Step 5: Under the ‘Value Added Tax’ section of the BAS, click on ‘Attach VAT return’. The VAT return will be displayed as an extension to the VAT section of the BAS.

Step 6: Key in the relevant information in the respective fields of the VAT return.

The ‘Value Added Tax’ section of the BAS will automatically be updated as you key in the information

on your VAT return.

NB: Any outstanding GST collected from payment received from invoice issued prior to 2013, should be

keyed in the ‘Goods and Services Tax Arrears’.

Step 7: If relevant to your business, key in the information required under the Excise Tax the PAYG

sections of the BAS.

The summary section is automatically updated as and when information is being keyed in on the BAS

Form.

Step 8: After completing all relevant sections of the BAS form, click on ‘SAVE BAS’. If you wish to pay

your tax due online, click in the ‘Pay online’ box.

Step 2: Click on ‘New Tax Return’.

NB: For a detailed explanation of how to complete the Business Tax Return, you can refer to the

Business Tax Guide, which is available at all SRC offices and the SRC website.

3.1 Return Details PART A: Enter the details of the return you are submitting.

PART B: Your business details will be populated automatically.

In the space below, describe all the books of accounts kept by the business (e.g. bank statements,

invoices, receipts, etc).

Under ‘Other Business Activities’ (if any), insert any other business activities the business in engaged

in. Fill all the boxes with the appropriate information. If you have more than one ‘business activity’, click

on ‘Add’ at the corner of the table. Another row will be inserted.

Note: The other business activities section is applicable to an entity (company, Soletrader, partnership) that

has more than one business. It is required that the main individual information about each entity is included

under this section whilst the consolidated amounts are reported under the page Assets and Liabilities,

Income and deductions and Tax computations.

3.2 Assets and Liabilities NB: THE BOXES HIGHLIGHTED IN YELLOW WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY COMPUTED.

Step 1: Enter the monetary value of all non-current and current assets. Step 2: Enter the values of all capital employed and the business’ liabilities, both current and non-current.

Step 3: Input figures as indicated below to compute the cost of goods sold.

Step 4: Click on next page.

3.3 Income and Deductions Step 1: Input the figures for the total income that you have collected for the taxable year.

Step 2: Insert the figures for the expenses or losses which are legally permitted to be subtracted from the

gross revenue of a business.

In this section, the business needs to indicate the total expenses or losses which are allowable deductions

that are subtracted from the gross revenue of a business in computing its taxable income.

Deductions range from Boxes 50 to 72.

Step 3: Click on ‘Next Page’.

3.4 Tax Computation

The purpose of this section is to adopt some tax principles so as to adjust the return for tax purposes.

Step 1: Insert the value of the items listed in this section. This will be added to the profit / loss made by the

business.

Step 2: Insert the value of the items listed in this section. This will be subtracted from the profit / loss made

by the business.

Step 3: Insert any losses that the business might have incurred in the previous year.

Step 4: Calculate the tax payable to / refundable from the SRC.

Insert the amount of instalments paid in Boxes 96 to 98 as appropriate.

Step 5: Tick in the appropriate box, according to who completed the return.

Step 6: Date and declare that all information is true and correct.

Step 7: Click on ‘Next Page’.

3.5 Schedules

Step 1: Complete Tables N to R according to the information requirements.

Step 2: You can double check your return by clicking on ‘First Page’.

Step 3: Click on ‘Save Tax Return’.

If you wish to male payment online, move to Step 4. Step 4: Click on ‘Pay Online’. Refer to Chapter 4 of the booklet if you wish to make your payment online.

4. E-Payment

If you selected the ‘Pay Online’ service, you will be directed to the Barclays site to enter your payment

details.

If you will not be making an online payment, an email will be sent to your email account confirming that

your BAS / Business Tax Return has been lodged successfully. The e-mail will state your Business

Transaction Number (BTN) which is used to identify your online transaction. Note that you will receive a

new BTN for each BAS / Business Tax Return submitted online.You should print a copy of this email

received and bring it along when making your payment at the SRC offices.
