ThroughouttheCoca-Colas ystem,weareintenselyfocusedonwater stewardship.We focusourwaterstewar dshipeffortsinthreear eas:improveourwateref ciency;recycle thewaterusedinouroperations(wastewatertreatment);andreplenish 1 through communitywateraccessandwatershedrestorationandprotection.Alloftheseefforts arelinkedtoourcommitmenttothesustainabilityofthewaterresourcesweshare. In2009,theCoca-Colasystemachieveditsseventhconsecutiveyearofimproved wateruseefciency.Acrossthesystem,309 billionlitersofwaterwereusedto manufacture130 billionlitersofproduct,withawateruseratioof2.36litersper literofproductproduced—a13 percentreductionsince2004.Thisrepresentsa single-yearefciencyimprovementof2.9 percentfrom2008to2009.
