Sagrada Familia _ 9:30AM401 Calle Mallorca
Sagrada Familia is a Roman Catholic church designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926). Although incomplete, the church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and in November 2010 was consecrated and proclaimed a minor basilica by Pope Benedict XVI. Though construction of Sagrada Família had commenced in 1882, Gaudí became involved in 1883, taking over the project and transforming it with his architectural and engineering style—combining Gothic and curvilinear Art Nouveau forms.

Casa Batlló _ 1:30PMCasa Batlló is a remodel of a previously built house. It was redesigned in 1904 by Gaudí and has been refurbished several times after that.
The local name for the building is Casa dels ossos (House of Bones), as it has a visceral, skeletal organic quality. It was originally designed for a middle-class family and situated in a prosperous district of Barcelona.
In 1904 Josep Batlló hired Gaudí to design his
building and construct a completely new house. Gaudí convinced Josep that a renovation was
planning application the same year. The building was completed and refurbished in 1906. He completely changed the main apartment which became the residence for the Batlló family. He expanded the central well in order to supply light to the whole building and

Casa Mila _ 3:30PMLa Pedrera—'the quarry'—was the name an astounded population gave to this completely unique building. It could be compared with the steep cliff walls in which African tribes build their cave-like dwellings. The wavy facade, with its large pores, reminds one also of an undulating
by a receding dune. The honeycombs made by industrious bees might also spring to the mind of the observer viewing the snake-like ups-and-downs that run through the whole building. In this last secular building which he constructed before devoting all his energies to the Sagrada Familia, Gaudi created a paradox: an
simultaneously a summary of all the forms that he has since become famous for. The roof sports an imitation of the bench from Guell Park as well as an ever more impressive series of bizarre chimney stacks.

Park Güell_ 5:30PMPark Güell is a garden complex with architectural elements situated on the hill of El Carmel in the Gràcia district of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It was designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí and built in the years 1900 to 1914. It has an extension of 17.18 ha (0.1718 km²), which makes it one of the largest architectural works in south Europe
Roadways around the park to service the intended houses were designed by Gaudí as structures jutting out from the steep hillside or running on viaducts, with separate footpaths in arcades formed under these structures. This minimized the intrusion of the roads, and Gaudí designed them using local stone in a way that integrates them closely into the landscape. His structures echo natural forms, with columns like tree trunks supporting branching vaulting under the roadway, and the curves of vaulting and alignment of sloping columns designed in a similar way to his Church of Colònia Güell so that the inverted catenary arch shapes form perfect compression structures

covered food market by the architectural practice of Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue was completed in 2005. The old Santa Caterina food market revealed a gleaming, undulating and brightly coloured roof designed to be seen from the air. The roof is attached to the building by a wooden structure, and a vast mosaic of coloured ceramic pieces, representing fruit and vegetables, boldly breaks with the traditional look of a market. The market has always been characterised by a desire to innovate. Santa Caterina Market was built in 1845 to provide the neighbourhood’s blue-collar community with foodstuffs.

The Fundacio Enric Miralles, based on the way of doing and thinking established by Enric Miralles, is a center for the experimentation of contemporary architecture and is conceived of as a platform for the promotion of knowledge. The Fundacio Enric Miralles is responsible for the custody and management of the legacy of the architect Enric Miralles, the work created together with Benedetta Tagliabue, and their many collaborators. The archive includes all project drawings, sketches, notes, photographs, correspondence and approximately one thousand original models. The archive is currently being catalogued and digitized in order to make its contents accessible to everyone. This archive will give the public insight into Enric’s unique intellectual and architectonic design process and will be completely integrated into the Foundation’s activities.
Enric Miralles (Barcelona, 1955, Sant Feliu de Codines, 2000) died young, at the height of his career, when his work had achieved international recognition. The author of outstanding buildings, he combined a genuinely new language with a profound respect for place. He left us a
intellectual body of work: writings, drawings, sketches, photomontages, diaries and almost a thousand original models preserved in his studio.

Gas Natural TowerRonda Litoral
Dominating the Barceloneta skyline, The Gas Natural Tower is one of the most unusual and innovative buildings in Barcelona. The Gas Natural Tower's cutting edge asymetrical design was the brainchild of Catalan architect Enric Miralles and the Italian architect Benedetta Tagliabue.
Since its construction in 2006 the Gas Natural Tower has had its share of admirers and detractors, making it one of the most controversial examples of modern architecture in the city. Its aggressive, gravity-defying design might strike some onlookers as ugly, but from every angle it is an extraordinary visual spectacle worth getting up close to and walking around.
The building is fragmented into three sections, with a four-storey section in the
horizontal 'aircraft carrier' extension jutting

MERCADO DE LA BARCELONETACarrer del Baluard, 23, 08003
One of the major fresh food market of Barcelona follows the Santa Catarina Market strategy: mixing singular and spectacular new architecture with a public program of an important social impact. The Barceloneta Market -located at the heart of the traditional, maritime neighborhood- has been rehabilitated after several years of decay. It was built in the late 19th century by architect Rovira i Trias. The iron roof and façades were the most interesting features of the old market, so Miàs -an ex-collaborator of Miralles- dismantled the old metallic structure and restored it, adding new parts, resulting in a multiple, fragmented roof. While Miralles' Santa Caterina is an explosion of color mixed with the warmth of wood and ceramic elements, Miàs' Barceloneta has more darker and colder aesthetics, probably
market has a series of solar panels on the roof, and a new underground parking is equipped with all kinds of modern services and facilities.

Igualada Cemetery ENRIC MIRALLES & BENEDETTA TAGLIABUE EMBT, CARME PINÒS
Igualada Cemetery (also known as Cemetery Nou) was built by Carme Pinòs and Enric Miralles after an architectural competition held in 1984. Following the concept of a river of life as a "swirly stream that eroded the smooth curves of the banks of burial niches" (Peter Buchanan), they created a modern city of
sculpture embedded in the hilly landscape of Catalonia. In addition to a sloping link-up road that leads to a central funeral square, the architects provided a (still
building. The emotional impact of the project focuses on visual forces which appeal to the memories of mourners and visitors. The dynamic shape of walls, ramps and landscape are used as an expression of life's fugacity. Enric Miralles was buried in one of the tombs after his death on July 3rd in 2000.

The idea for the foundation was made in 1968 by Joan Miró. Miró formed the foundation with his friend Joan Prats.[1] Miró wanted to create a new building that would encourage particularly younger artists to experiment with contemporary art. The building was designed by Josep Lluís Sert to ensure that this work could also be made available to the public and exhibited. He designed the building with courtyards and terraces and to create a natural path for visitors to move through the building.

Montjuic Communications TowerSantiago Calatrava Architect
The Montjuïc Communications Tower popularly known as Torre Calatrava and Torre Telefónica, is a telecommunication tower in the Montjuïc neighborhood of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Designed by Santiago Calatrava, construction on the tower began in 1989 and was completed in 1992. The white tower was built for Telefónica to transmit television coverage of the 1992 Summer Olympics Games in Barcelona. The 136 m (446 ft) tower is located in the Olympic park, and represents an athlete holding the Olympic Flame.
The base is covered with trencadís, Gaudí's mosaic technique created from broken tile shards.
Because of the tower's orientation, it works also as a giant sundial, which uses the Europa square to indicate the hour.

PLAÇA DE CARLES BUÏGAS –MONTJUÏC PARKwww.bcn.cat/parcsijardins/fonts/EN/magica.html
The Magic Fountain is the main feature of the collection of waterfalls and ponds on Avinguda Maria Cristina, which stretches from the Palau Nacional to Plaça Espanya in Montjuïc. This is a spectacular fountain which is very popular because of its water arrangements, sound and lighting. 2,600 litres of water are pumped through this great fountain per second in three concentric pools which have a water recirculation system.
Through its connection to the groundwater network of Montjuïc Mountain, the Magic Fountain and the three upper waterfalls are supplied with water coming from subsoil level.
It was built for the 1929 World Fair by Carles Buïgas on the site where The Four Columns by Josep Puig i Cadafalch had stood before being demolished in 1928. Using extremely artisanal methods, up to thirty water arrangements could be used with different colours.
In the 1980s music was added, and shortly before the 1992 Olympic Games it was completely renovated; despite this, the fountain still has a large part of the original mechanisms.

Mercabarna has opened the new building
accessory wholesalers. The market aims to become one of the principal markets in Catalonia and the rest of Spain, and a reference for facilities on European level.
The building claims to transmit an iconic value that is marking its public use. A skin has been designed that besides its formal language and its special character based on folds, expresses several characteristics of identity related to the activities of this sector. Following this concept, the big zinc roof that covers the whole market is designed with parallel linear geometries with different tones in a nonsymmetrical way, imitating the aerial view of the
frame with a multitude of colors that descends and rises to organize entrances along the building, a distinct movement and graphic image that is in line with this Flower Market.

The hotel tower (GF+25)* was designed with an organic form and appears to change as one moves around it. Given the building’s geometrical complexity, the façade is divided into two skins. The inner skin is a sealed envelope based on a light curtain-wall solution with aluminum and glass panels designed to fully meet all acoustic, thermal and sealing requirements. The exterior façade acts as a second skin that provides texture and accommodates the tower’s variable geometry. The skin is made of independent aluminum tubes whose ends are attached to ball-and-socket joints that allow for the desired torsion.

This project arose in answer to the requirements of the basic guidelines
local development framework. The brief was to replace the homes which had been expropriated to enlarge the Trade Fair Area (Pavilions 5 and 7). The new homes will be located facing Ciencias Street, and the objective is to create an internal space which will be protected by the new pavilions and the multifamily apartment block.

Imagine a chunk of city, more than a third of one million square metres, made from a single cast concrete detail; a district of nine
nearly 12,000 iterations of the same structural module. These are the numbers
biggest project to date, the City of Justice, which brings together all of Barcelona’s legal services in one complex.
The scheme, completed in partnership with local practice b720, has an elemental simplicity, easily read at any scale. In terms
boundary between Barcelona and neighboring municipality L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. In terms of site, the City of Justice creates its own condition of solid and void; tower blocks arranged around and off a concourse and plaza, rather than
form the immediate context. Project director Andrew Phillips calls it ‘a city within a city’.

The Barcelona-based Roca, one of the world’s top producers of bath furnishings and tile, wanted to increase its visibility. So the company approached Carlos Ferrater’s
building it occupied into a brand showroom. Although the timing was
hit — design architect Borja Ferrater developed a successful stage for Roca’s products and services, thanks to scale, materials, and public allure. Gutting the structure, the OAB team worked with Spanish glass manufacturer Cricursa to develop an iconic facade made
like a rock, and at night it looks liquid,” says Ferrater of the glass box, which is lit by computer-controlled LEDs. The resulting interior features dramatic volumes with installations that invite visitors to browse the company’s products and explore its bath solutions through state-of-the-art interactive displays. An additional exhibition space accommodates business and consumer events, often in conjunction
wants to erase the detachment that companies have from society,” explains Ferrater.

Social Housing Carrer Ramon Daga
The architectural strategy used has been to create a by a language that seeks abstraction through color, rhythm, and movement: a language that will contrast with the domestic private life of the residents inside. To combine these two concepts moveable panels have been mounted on the façades. By opening or closing them, residents can choose the level of light or privacy they want at any time throughout the year.

Can Gili Footbridge, Gronollers BV-1432 Highway
This sloping Corten steel footbridge by Spanish civil engineers Alfa Polaris straddles a main road to connect two parts of Granollers, Spain. The Can Gili Footbridge provides a direct route between the densely populated area of can Gilli and the greener Terra Alta, which were previously only connected by a bridge on their outskirts. The asymmetric bridge is
LEDs and has a treated timber decking. The steel structure took four days to assemble from components manufactured off-site.
The footbridge next to the junction of the Sant Ferran St. with Verge de la Mercè St. and Sant Marc St. at the Terra Alta side, was strongly conditioned by the asymmetric shape of the cross section of the road trench.

Consequently, the geometry does not maintain a constant alignment. It presents some doubts about the section in relation to the passage or the street-courtyard and in relation to the existing industrial building in Pamplona Street as well.
