Affordable Design and EntrepreneurshipDesigning Food Processing Machines

for Rural Ghanaian WomenMy senior capstone project was designing, prototyping, test-ing, and deploying cassava presses for rural gari producing Ghanaian women. The machines were designed to be easily usable by a single woman, empowering her to grow her own business. The machines will be manufactured in the future by a company to be established in Ghana.

Human Powered Vehicles TeamBuilding Recumbent Vehicles and Team Leadership

Through my membership and time as captain on the Olin HPV Team I assisted in building 4 recumbent bikes and trikes, machined aluminum and steel vehicle components, constructed aerodynam-ic fairings from carbon fiber through differing techniques, created and followed team schedules, organized activities, lead design re-views, and taught and engaged new members.

Investigating NormalDesigning for Children with Sensory Processing Difficulties

Working with occupational therapists from a nearby school for chil-dren with varying developmental and social disabilities, my team designed an easily reproducible and safe addition to the classroom chairs. The Nestly is designed to create a comfortable environment for children at their desk. It blocks visual distractions and unwant-ed gazes, defines a space, and empowers kids to self regulate their emotions and behavior.
