Under the theme, ‘Pratibha Mei Makhan Manthan’ a slew of both on-stage and off-stage events were organised. e Principal of SJEC, Dr. Albert Smith was the chief guest of the event. The off-stage events such as poetry recitation, collage making, on- spot acting, quiz prelims, and rangoli were conducted on the days leading up to the fest. The on stage events included antakshari, shayari, solo singing, fashion show and group dance. The Principal presided over the valedictory function and gave away prizes to the winners. Springlight spoke to Mr. Nagaraj Manohar, the co-ordinator of the fest and the Department Head of Hindi Department. “The fest was very well received by the students and appreciated. Many Alumni of the college were invited as judges for the different events,” said Mr. Nagaraj. “This time we organised unique events such as translation and shayari competition which were appreciated. The programme helped students from various other non-Hindi backgrounds to appreciate and encourage the language, and hopefully this will pave through a way for brighter future of the language in the coming years,” opined Mr. Nagaraj Weekend Visit to Jamie’s Studio Ignatius Arun The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication organized a visit to a recording studio for the first year M.A. Journalism and Mass Communication students at Indiranagar. Located in a prominent part of the city, the studio was well-equipped. e students were taught the various aspects of the studio such as sound proofing, types of mixers, sound card, recording soſtware and entire arrangement of the studio. Students were also instructed on the steps involved in recording and how to pay attention even to the minute details of sound. The students had the experience to record for one of the upcoming radio shows. The recording kicked off well with many retakes and showcased the difference between high pitch voice and base voice. more saplings rather than wasting time sharing and liking information on social media. Rev. Fr. Brian Pereira S.J, the Rector of St. Joseph’s Institutions said, “The environmental situation is degrading day by day. Unfortunately, the youth are bearing the brunt of environmental degradation.” He further added, “I want to congratulate all the students who came here. They are not perpetuators of destruction, they are victims of destruction. I think change is possible and will come from public spaces like this to promote the environment.
