CHURCH

Entryway, Sanctuary, Education, and Offices

Pleasant Valley Church was started in 1932 as an interdenominational church. Pastors for the past couple of decades were credentialed with Open Bible Churches in Des Moines, IA and the church voted to affiliate with Open Bible Churches in 2018. They have nice facilities sitting on the northern edge of Springfield. The current pastor has served as an interim pastor during 2020 while the church moved forward in several health endeavors. Sunday morning worship includes a mix of hymns and choruses with a growing number of musicians. There is an adult Sunday School class and an adult Bible study on Wednesdays. Children’s ministry is offered on Sunday morning and Wednesday nights. There is a monthly fellowship lunch following the service on Sunday morning. Attendance averages between 30 and 40 with this age breakdown- 3 children under 12 years of age; 6 adults in their 20’s to 40’s; the remaining would be 50+ years of age. The sanctuary has new carpeting and chairs purchased and installed during the COVID-19. A projector has been added to the sanctuary for worship. The nursery is currently being remodeled. There is a couple who serves as caretakers for the property and facility and are housed in the home next to the church. They also oversee the hospitality for the church. The bookkeeping and finances are managed by an outside CPA firm. The church is currently under regional supervision and the church has two advisory board members.
