PRAGUE12-14NOV Prague, the magical city of bridges, cathedrals and gold

tipped towers, Queen of Music and the world’s fi nest beers. It is regarded by many as one of Europe’s most beautiful cities.

Prague escaped WWII almost unscathed – the city centre is a smorgasbord of stunning architecture, from Gothic, Renaissance and baroque to neoclassical, Art Nouveau and Cubist. There’s a maze of medieval lanes to explore lively bars, beer gardens, jazz clubs, museums and art galleries galore.

The best way to see Prague is on foot. The city centre of Prague is divided into fi ve areas, spanning both banks of the Vltava River. Charles Bridge is the main pedestrian connection between the two. On one side is the Old Town, with the Old Town Square at its heart; the New Town, Wenceslas Square, and the Jewish Quarter. On the other side of the river is the Lesser Town, and the Castle District, with Prague Castle at its heart. Our escorted walking tour will visit sights such as the Old Town Square, The Astronomical Clock, The old Jewish town, Charles Bridge, Prague Castle and off er a wide range of stories and history spanning from Prague’s medieval, renaissance, WWII, and Communist eras whilst divulging Prague’s best kept secrets.

We travel south from Prague through the Moravia region. Pass the Presidential Palace and the quaint Old Town in Bratislava, capital of the Slovak Republic where we will stop for lunch and a walking tour of the city. Crossing into Austria we arrive in the imperial city of Vienna. With its rambling palaces, winding cobbled lanes, elegant Kaff eehäuser and cosy wood-panelled Beisln, Vienna is steeped in history. Yet it’s also at the cutting edge of design, architecture, contemporary art, and new directions in drinking and dining. Spend the afternoon wandering along narrow, medieval alleyways or explore the sights including Schonbrunn Palace, the Imperial Palace and the majestic architecture along the Ring Boulevard.

We will attend a Viennese Concert. Vienna has been synonymous with music for centuries, and was home to Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Johann Strauss. This outstanding musical heritage has been preserved right to the present day.

Discover the city through one of the multitude of famous museums including the Kunsthistorisches Museum housing the Imperial Art Collection.

BUDAPEST15-17NOV We make our way to our next Eastern European gem – the

Hungarian capital of Budapest. Long known as the ‘Paris of the East’, Budapest is located on a bend of the Danube and contains stunning architecture and boulevards, leafy parks and historic bathhouses.

Budapest is famous not only for the monuments refl ecting its own 1,000-year-old culture, but also for the relics of others who settled here. Remains from both Roman occupation and much later ruled by the Turks can still be seen in the city. After the Ottoman Empire the union with Austria has a particular infl uence on the city’s form and style. The capital has two sides, Buda and Pest, stretching along the banks of the Danube, representing two diff erent characters of the city. We will experience a full day sightseeing tour of central Budapest visiting sights including Buda Castle and Fishermen’s Bastion. A city of superlatives, Budapest contains Europe’s largest synagogue and medicinal bathhouse as well as Europe’s third-largest church and oldest underground train system and the world’s third largest parliament building. This city is a truly must-see destination in Europe. Our tour fi nishes at Heroes’ Square where we’ll cool down with a dip in the incredible Szechenyi bath house.
