ULTIMATE ACTIVITY CAMPS
Dear Parents,
Thank you to the PA for a great Hollywood quiz event. What a glamor-
ous evening organised by Mrs Chettiar and Dr Horn, with Mr Brindley as
the Quiz Master. Thank you for such excellent costumes and taxing
questions. Thank you to Mrs Brindley and Mrs Hart for their hard work in
keeping the evening running smoothly and to Jerry for his wonderful
curry.
The House Art Competition is up in the Atrium and there will be a pri-
vate viewing at the beginning of the summer term. I was overwhelmed
with the quality of work and the thoughtful visual expression – well done
all the competitors for your dedication. Winners will be announced on Monday.
Reception children enjoyed their trip to Coolings Garden Centre The pupils will tell you that their favourite
bit was having a packed lunch, however, apparently there was an impressive owl display!

This week Year 2 completed
their “Paws b” Mindfulness course. The
12 week course has seen them develop
their skills and learn a range of practices
to equip them as they go forward in
their lives. The year group should be
commended for both their enthusiasm
and commitment which ensured a posi-
tive learning experience for them all.

RECEPTION COOLINGS TRIP
YEAR 1 RNLI VISIT Pam Stephens, a volunteer with the
RNLI, visited Year 1 to teach the chil-
dren about lifeboats and water safety,
ahead of our trip to Hastings next
week. The children learnt about the
different RNLI flags one might see at
the beach and what to do in an emer-
gency. They tried on the kit a volunteer
would wear on a rescue and a beach
lifeguard’s uniform.
On Wednesday 11 March the Reception chil-
dren went on a visit to the nature trail at
Coolings Garden Centre in Knockholt. There
was great excitement, even before we
boarded the minibus in our salopettes, coats
and wellies.
When we arrived we had a lovely surprise as
Mrs Anderson was there. We all had fun
squelching in the mud looking at the animals.
We saw a pig, goats, ferrets, wallabies and
lots of birds. We were lucky to be there when
the owls were flying and we sat really still
while we learnt all about the 3 different owls
and watched them fly near us and over us.
The lady brought out the last owl and said
that this one was really scary.....she was only
teasing us though as it was a tiny little owl with
tufty ears and whiskers.
We saw amazing bug hotels made out of re-
cycled materials and a bat box and we still
had time to play in the little houses around
the trail. At the end of our visit we all washed
our hands really well and got back on the
minibuses. When we got back to school we
had our packed lunches in our classrooms
and all agreed it had been a great morning.
Our teachers said they were very proud of us.

OLD UNIFORM REQUEST!
We, Elena, Lottie and Clover in Year 6, would like to produce a rug ragging piece of artwork that remind us
of our school years at Rose Hill integrating the Rose Hill Logo. We are planning to display it somewhere in
the school when we have completed it. We would appreciate if you could helps us by sending us your old
Rose Hill uniform: corduroy shorts, T-shirt’s, dresses, grey shirts, scarfs, blouses, ties and any other uniform you do
not need anymore!
Many, many thanks for your help!
Elena, Lottie and Clover
Y6 GEOGRAPHY TRIP Whilst the heavy rain did make the trip via Alfriston village a little tricky it also served to highlight the spec-
tacular meanders and creeks of the River Cuckmere’s floodplain in the Spring sunshine and allow the ‘New
Cut’ to be in full spate and speed along to the sea at low tide. As it did so the fast-flowing water actively
undercut and eroded the shingle beach causing mini land or ‘shingle’ slides before our very eyes.
As the twenty-three strong party of Year 6’s walked the high line along the chalk hills overlooking the me-
anders, stops were made, field sketches drawn and explanations given. The shingle beach, wave cut plat-
form and the spectacular white, vertical, chalk cliff – the first of the Seven Sisters - provided another geo-
graphical landscape to discuss. Further field sketches were made under the expert eye of Head of Art Mrs
Moore and questions were asked by the enthusiastic boys and girls. We finished the day walking up the
steep chalk slope in order to catch spectacular views westwards of the mouth of the River Cuckmere and
eastwards along the Seven Sisters themselves towards Birling Gap and Eastbourne. Our ‘scramble’ did little
to reduce the footpath erosion which is very much in evidence but by following the footpaths we did not
exacerbate it.
A fabulous ‘geography in a day’ was had by pupils and staff alike and many thanks to Mr Stacey, Mrs
Moore and Miss Martin for their help and support.

Last week we had a busy book–filled time. The week kicked off with an assembly led by members by Mrs
Harris’s Book Club: Louisa, Elena, Amelia S, Jemima and Clover read aloud beautifully from their favourite
books. Mrs Nicholl’s lunchtime games were a great hit as BP, Mackinnon and Grange battled each other
in a variety of tasks and the annual Book Fair was a great success .
On World Book Day itself it was great to see the children and staff’s wonderful costumes—a huge thank
you to parents for your support. The Upper and Middle school pupils shared stories with the PrePrep chil-
dren, and the Prep School held a World Book Day quiz in the Library with over 80 children taking part.
Three teams got 10 out of 10—congratulations to the Quiz Winners— Alex M, Xavier, Dylan C, Zachary, Ja-
mie, Rufus, Amelia S, Charlotte W, Bea and Catrin. A big thank you to the Year 7 ‘Quiz Masters’, Seb, Alex F
and Thea.

I hope that your child is enjoying reading for the school readathon. Read for Good is a great way to
start conversations with your child about what they are reading and enjoying at the moment. We have
been doing this in our library sessions, and the children are so enthused about the books they love to
read—both fiction and non-fiction.
As regards sponsorship money, you are now able to send it in at your earliest convenience. Any amount
is appreciated by the charity - all those donations add up. Your child will receive a certificate and
house points for taking part

tions from Mr Brindley as the Quiz Master ably assisted by Mrs Brindley & Mrs Hart and Jerry again provided
