70s mood

‘70s slowly has slowly working towards taking over the fashion trends this season, but it’s in spring 2015 when the ’70s influences are expected to bloom in all of their nostalgic-infused beauty. Although subtle, the hippie motifs meet the more modern accents in perfect harmony

Bohemian

The bohemian sentiments to carry an ultra-romantic aura. Expect an avalanche of flowy, dreamy, irresistible silhouettes

The bomber has been back for a few seasons and its appeal, commercial and media wise seems far from waning. Bombers come in all shapes and sizes for next summer and will continue to do so for many years to come.


Boxy Shorts

Shorts are a summer staple, and for the coming season they are definitely the game changers. It’s all about boxy, or oversize shorts. From board short inspired ones to boxy tailored versions in technical fabrics, printed, embroidered and even brocade ones, shorts will be your go to item

3D Effects

Creativity goes large with 3D effects in the Spring Summer 2015 collections. While not a major trend, new forms of embellishment and old live together with cut outs, passementerie, embossing and quilting


Shining Bright

It may be the dominance of technical fabrics that calls for a contrast but many designers experimented with precious and high shine fabrics on the catwalks. From printed satin suits to silk bomber jackets and even lurex blazers, there is a handful yet eye catching camp of looks that shine like stars.

It seems fitting that the year of the Brazil World Cup, when most of the world is glued to their TV screens to see who will lift the golden cup on the 13th July that the fashion set, always a step ahead, looks at boxing for inspiration.

How translatable these jumpsuits are for real life remains to be seen, but two things we are positively sure here: 1. Paris designers really got down with the jumpsuit this season and 2. This trend is not for the faint-hearted.

• Rich jewel tones are infused with intricate florals, while lace, suede, and jacquard fabrics help to evoke the elaborate nature of the trend

• The Anti Cat-Eye - Black eyeliner never goes out of style, but the way to wear it for spring/summer 2015 is from the middle of the eyes extended past the outer corners or in a bold line underneath

• Graphic Eyeliner - Whether it’s in the form of an exaggerated ladylike swoosh (Prada), spiky self-made scribble (Louis Vuitton), or blended smoky haze (Sonia Rykiel), bold black eye pencil is the perfect medium.

• The Colour Purple - whether pretty lilac or the deep, smoky grape hue

• High-Impact Lips -The lip of the season is rich, supersaturated, and soft around the edges and pressed on with a fingertip

• True nude - Spring/Summer 2015 aims to give women a true nude lipstick. It's a lippy that truly matches the wearer's skin tone and results in a seamless and continuous outcome

• Artistic Arrows and Creative Lines - The makeup artists showed great enthusiasm towards eye makeup. Visual arts had a great influence on the makeup illustrations, and it wasn’t only the unusual forms of arrows that stunned but also the lovely hues used

• Pony tail - crimped, sleek or mussed-up, the pony tail was seen across every catwalk this Fashion Week, held low at the base of the neck

• The root lift - Roots are set to be taken to new heights this Summer, combed up high and voluminous for sex-bomb allure, as seen on the biggest catwalks at Fashion Week. Wear it wild or sophisticated.

• The side-parting - This Fashion Week, the parting came drawn firmly down one side, worn long and smoothed, over one shoulder or tied back in a sensible pony tail, for the most sophisticated Spring hairstyle around

• Hair parted in the middle and tucked neatly behind the ears proved to be a winning combination. The result was an ultra-feminine look somewhere between sweetheart and sultry siren

• Plaits hidden amongst long, flowing lengths, worked into a graphic bun or tied loosely at the back, braids proved to be a leading trend on the Spring/Summer 2015 runway

• The wave - hair stylists have opted for classic long, loose lengths opting for a 100% natural finish

• Roots are wet to create an almost glossy effect, then brushed back to clear the face, while the ends are left untouched

• Hair accessories - From shellfish and crustaceans to oversized orchids, hair stylists played with an array of accessories this season to create bold statements
