C. Conditional Enrollment based on Language Proficiency Admitted students might have enrollment restrictions based on the submitted TOPIK score or the level completed at the Korean Language Center at Korea University or other universities.

• Admitted students are required to take the Intensive Korean Language Program for two semesters but are allowed to enroll in general education courses up to 19 credits per semester.
D. Qualification for Examination Standard1) Only schools located outside of Korea are regarded as schools overseas. International schools located in
Korea will not be considered the same as schools overseas.2) Other qualification examinations taken in Korea or overseas, homeschooling, online courses, or language
schools, and so on from the level of primary, secondary to higher education are not regarded as regular school curriculum.
3. Eligibility and RequirementsA. Citizenship/Academic Requirements
1) Freshman (first year) studentApplicant must meet one of the following requirements:a. A non-Korean citizen applicant with non-Korean citizen parent(s), who has completed (or is expected to
complete) regular high school/secondary education in Korea or overseas.b. A non-Korean citizen applicant with Korean citizen parent(s), who has completed regular primary and
secondary education overseas.
2) Transfer StudentApplicant must meet one of the following requirements:a. A non-Korean citizen applicant with non-Korean citizen parent(s), who has completed regular high
school/secondary education and has an academic record of minimum two years completed in an undergraduate program at a regular four-year university in Korea or overseas.
b. A non-Korean citizen applicant with Korean citizen parent(s), who has completed regular primary and high school/secondary education overseas and has an academic record of minimum two years in an undergraduate program at a regular four-year university. For applicants who have attended two or three-year college, only those who have graduated can apply as a transfer student.
※ Transfer students will be admitted as a third-year student.
※ Notice about ‘Citizenship’•Citizenship status is determined at the time of application submission.•A Korean citizen who holds dual citizenship cannot apply as an international student.• If an applicant oneself and the applicant’s parent(s) were Korean citizens but renounced Korean

4. Application ProcedureA. How to Apply: Online Application (http://oia.korea.ac.kr)
For those who may experience difficulties in completing online application must submit an application and supporting documents either via mail or in person by the deadline.
B. Admission Criteria: 100% based on the submitted application and documentsEvaluation is based on the submitted application and supporting documents only, assessing the applicant’s academic ability, aptitude for their field of interest, language competency, academic and extra-curricular activities, and so on. However, an interview or test on specific skills may be conducted depending on the field of study. In such cases, applicants will be notified in advance with additional guidelines.
C. Admission Process
① The photograph (3x4cm) must have been taken within the last three months.② Once the application is completed and the application fee payment is processed, there will be no return of
the submitted application form and supporting documents. There is no refund policy of the application fee so please double check the application carefully before submitting it.There may be an exceptional case of full or partial refund of the registration fee (excluding the administration fee) in the following circumstances only:- when applicant is unable to apply within the deadline under extenuating circumstances such as natural disaster, severe weather, military service, bereavement (through the death of a close relative or significant other), serious short term illness or accident, worsening of a long-term chronic health problem, civil unrest (evidence must be provided).
- when applicant’s application is assessed as grossly underqualified.※ According to Article 34, Section 4, Clause 5 of the Higher Education Act, the application fees will be
utilized for processing the applications and any leftover will be reimbursed to applicants.Each individual applicant’s reimbursement shall be proportionate to the total number of applicants.
★ If you don’t provide evidence within the deadline, your circumstances will not be accepted. If you provide the evidence late but have a good reason for doing so, you will also need to provide evidence of your reason.
★ In order for applicant to request for refund, a refund request form must be submitted for a review.★ Online application submission can be confirmed by printing off the submission slip. Please make sure to
print the application form, personal statement, study plan, and the mailing label for your application envelope.

C. Important Notes for Admission Results and Tuition Payment1) Admission results are available on the OIA website: http://oia.korea.ac.kr. The International Admissions
Office does not notify admission results to applicants individually.2) Admitted students must complete the tuition (or tuition deposit for students admitted for spring
semesters) payment within the registration period. If the tuition is not paid by the deadline, admission will be withdrawn.
3) If an applicant is found to have enrolled in more than two universities including industrial college, college of education and technical/vocational college in Korea for the same year and semester, admission will be immediately withdrawn.
4) Admitted students who are expected to graduate from high school must submit a graduation certificate to the International Admissions Office by February 2nd, 2018.
5) For admitted students falling under the category of ‘a non-Korean citizen applicant with Korean citizen parent(s)’, official transcripts, enrollment confirmation letter, graduation certificates and any kinds of letter from elementary school, middle school and high school must obtain Apostille stamps or embassy legalization and submit it to the International Admissions Office by February 2nd, 2018. Transfer students should also do the same for documents issued from their previous universities.
6) Please be noted that there may be a few additional criteria which will be determined by the Admissions Assessment Committee according to the admissions regulations at KU.
6. Additional Notes for All ApplicantsA. Important Notes for Eligibility
1) A ‘non-Korean citizen applicant with Korean citizen parent(s)’ can apply to KU up to a maximum of six times per year regardless of the type or rounds of screening one applied for. Any applicant who has violated this will be disadvantaged and have one’s application withdrawn by the university.
2) Applicants may be contacted individually by phone or email for additional document, if necessary. Therefore, applicants must provide an accurate phone number and email address of their own and guardians. Korea University is not responsible for not being able to reach the applicant because of the wrong contact information in the application.
3) A ‘non-Korean citizen applicant with Korean citizen parent(s)’ must submit a Certificate of Entry and Exit that has been issued in the last three months. Certificate of Entry and Exit must show all records from the applicant’s date of birth to the date of submission. Applicants will be disadvantaged if entry and exit records are falsified or cannot be verified due to the use of dual passports.
4) If one is residing outside Korea and therefore, unable to get a Certificate of Entry and Exit, a third party may request a Certificate of Entry and Exit on behalf of the applicant. Please call the immigration office regarding any questions about Certificate of Entry and Exit at +82-1345.
5) If the applicant is found to be not qualified as an international student requirement, admission may be rescinded even after the admission has been granted.
B. Important Notes for Application Submission1) The application form, personal statement and study plan must be submitted online first. A hard copy of
the online application, personal statement and study plan must be submitted as well with supporting documents via mail or in-person. For those who are not able to access the online application must download the form from the OIA website, fill out and submit the offline application form with the exact amount of application fee in cash enclosed in the envelope. The application, supporting documents and application fee must arrive at the International Admissions Team within the application submission period.
2) All supporting documents must be submitted in its original copy. If originals cannot be submitted due to unavoidable reasons, copies can be submitted only if the copies are certified as true copies of the original by the relevant organization/institution or the International Admissions Team at Korea University upon submission.
3) Supporting documents such as academic transcripts and official certificates must be issued and certified by the relevant organizations or institutions.
4) For early graduation, skipped grades, loss of transcripts, or loss of records for enrollment either in or outside Korea, applicants must provide evidence.
5) If there is no consistency in the applicant’s name in the application form and the supporting documents, it is the applicant’s responsibility to provide evidence that states different names in the documents are the same person.
6) If applicant’s family relationship needs to be confirmed (parents’ divorce, parents’ death and etc.), or if applicant renounced Korean citizenship, the applicant must submit authenticating documents as evidence.
7) Any documents written in a language other than Korean or English must be translated into Korean or English by a certified translator.
8) Once the application and other documents are submitted, it cannot be edited. Also, submitted documents will not be returned.
9) When submitting the certified translations of documents, it is the applicant’s responsibility to check if there are any spelling errors in the applicant’s name or the official English name of the attended schools.
10) Admission may be rescinded if the applicant submits falsified materials or is found to have made inaccurate statements.
11) The Apostille or Embassy legalization are not required for the documents issued from the overseas

2. Options for Majors/MinorsA. Mandatory (Please choose one)
1) Double Major: ·Fulfill the graduation requirements for the first major ·Take all core courses required for the second major
2) Interdisciplinary Major: ·Fulfill the graduation requirements for the first major ·Take all core courses required in a program combined of at least two different academic majors
3) Independent Major: ·Fulfill the graduation requirements for the first major ·Student takes a self-created curriculum with a selection of inter-related courses and seek for an approval by the president of KU
4) Intensive Major: ·Fulfill the graduation requirements for the first major ·Take additional courses in the first major-related department
B. Elective1) Dual Degree: Complete eight semesters of study for the first major and pursue a second major for one
semester or more2) Minor: Fulfill the graduation requirements for the first major and complete at least half of the curriculum
in another department at the same time
