Please join CEED in congratulating Craig Gunn, senior academic specialist in the Michigan State University Department of Mechanical Engineering who was inducted as an ASEE Fellow at the ASEE National Conference in Columbus, Ohio.

Craig has been a member of ASEE CEED since 1992, and has been active on the board as the CEED Newsbrief Editor (we have all posed for CEED and CIEC pictures for Craig!), and active in our the CIEC Conference as our on-site technology lead. In 2008, Craig was presented the Alvah K. Borman Award from CEED for sustained, honorable and meritorious contributions to the promotion and practice of cooperative education in engineering and technology.

The fellow designation is only conferred on one-tenth of one percent of ASEE members each year, it is

presented to those with outstanding qualifications and experiences in engineering and related fields. We thank Craig for your many years of contributions to ASEE, CEED and CIEC!!!

If Craig could say two words, besides ‘thank you’, he would say ‘Get Involved’!

Congratulations Craig Gunn, Michigan State!!

Named ASEE Fellow

125th Annual Conference & Exposition! June 24 - 27, 2018, Salt Lake City, Utah

Abstract submission will open September 5, 2017. The deadline for submitting abstracts is October 16, 2017 (23:59 EST).

NEW THIS YEAR! CEED is offering two paper submission pathways: Research Track and Work-in-Progress Postcard Track, subject to the number and type of submissions received and accepted. All ASEE divisions, including CEED, are publish-to-present. Both tracks require submission of an abstract and paper that will be peer reviewed (double-blind review process); however, the type of paper for each track is different. Engineers or cooperative edu-cation and experiential education professionals from either academia or industry should consider submitting pa-pers that are relevant to cooperative education, internships, experiential or work-integrated learning.

WORK-IN-PROGRESS POSTER TRACK. Abstracts and papers submitted to this track can be categorized as work-in-progress (WIP). This track is suitable for co-op and experiential education practitioners, as well as researchers who are still in the early stages of their study. This special format is intended to give authors of WIPs the opportunity to pitch their papers in a short presentation, followed by discussion of their work in greater detail with attendees.

RESEARCH TRACK. This track is suitable for complete research papers: evidence-based practice papers, research papers, and theory papers.

TOPICS. Special consideration will be given this year to topics related to the following areas. This is not a compre-hensive list. For other suggested topics, please see the Call for Papers.

• Using co-op/internships for assessment and ABET accreditation

• Using experiential learning in course curriculum

• Successful strategies for broadening participation in co-op/internships/experiential learning for under-represented student groups

• Effect of co-op/internships/experiential learning on student retention

• Effect of co-op/internships/experiential learning on students’ self-efficacy

• Review of literature relevant to co-op and internships

Please review the CEED Call for Papers for additional information https://www.asee.org/uploads_public/conferences/session_owner/call_for_papers_file/0000/1429/2018_ASEE_Annual_Conference_CEED_Call_for_Papers.pdf

For author submission guidelines and deadlines, please review the resources on this page, in particular, the Au-thor’s Kit https://www.asee.org/conferences-and-events/conferences/annual-conference/2018/papers-management/for-authors

Another way to become more involved in CEED is to volunteer to be a reviewer for the abstracts and papers.

Please contact me if you would like to be a reviewer, or if you have questions on the paper submission process that are not covered in the Author’s Kit or on the Author’s resource page above.
