An advertising featureSCHOOL HOLIDAY FUN

SCHOOL holidays are here again and with so many fun filled options in and around Hobart there will be no excuses for boredom this time around.

MAKE LEARNING FUNA NEW free community program has been launched by St Michael’s Collegiate School.

Little Learning House welcomes children from birth to four years each week for a morning of exploration, storytelling and play-based learning.

The program aims to nurture the natural curiosity of young children and also provides a unique introduction to the renowned Reggio Emilia educational approach adopted by Collegiate’s Early Learning

Centre and Kindergarten. Run by specialist Early

Learning educators, Little Learning House welcomes the youngest members of our community along with their parents and guardians.

Acting manager of Collegiate’s Early Learning Centre Sharnee Kelly said the program was a great way for families to come together and experience the benefits of play-based learning.

“We hope to provide themwith practical ways in which they can continue to support their child’s learning at home,” Ms Kelly said.

Little Learning House commences Monday, October 10, at Collegiate’s Early Learning Centre in Anglesea St, South Hobart.

The program operates each

Monday morning from 9.15am to 10.15am.

Registrations for the program are now open through the school website or by contacting the Head of Enrolments Mrs Trisha Lowe, on 6122 4936 or email trisha.lowe@collegiate .tas.edu.au

BECOME WATER WISEWITH the warmer weather fast approaching, Friends’ Health and Fitness isurging parents to think about the importance of swimming lessons in their children’s education.

Swim and Survive is a national swimming and water safety initiative of Royal Life Saving that increases swimming and water safety skills of Australian children to prevent drowning and increase participation in aquatic activity.

The program offers a rangeof levels which children can progress through as they develop their swimming techniques and basic survival skills.

Friends’ Health and Fitnessoffers lessons after school, on Saturday mornings and during school holidays for children aged three years and older.

Children who have not swum at the centre before will require a free 10-minute assessment prior to enrolment

to assess their level. For more information or to

enrol in the learn-to- swim program, phone 6210 2241.

TAKE A WILD RIDEHUON Jet has been operating from The Esplanade at Huonville for more than 26 years, providing an exciting jet boat ride on the Huon River.

The boat zooms from Huonville to Glen Huon.

Along the way the jet boat

navigates a number of rapids, and for a bit of added excitement executes a series of 360-degree spins on the river.

Manager John Allport saidthat on still days people can view the magnificent reflections, and small Huon pines can be seen along the river banks.

“And if we’re lucky we alsooften spy a pair of sea eagles perched in the treetops,” he said.

For those who like a gentler, quiet ride Huon Jet also offers pedal boat, aqua bike and canoe hire.

A cafe with a balcony overthe river serves light meals.

Huon Jet is open every dayof the year, except for Christmas Day.
