Year 5 and 6

We know that during the last two terms, Year 5 and 6 start making their own way home instead of coming to Funhouse.

We would LOVE to have them as long as we can! However, we understand that they are making the transition to high school.

If children are walking home or catching a bus, we encourage families to share Funhouse’s mobile and landline with their child/ren.

In the case of an emergency, children are always welcome to come to Funhouse, or call us to see if we can help.

Ph: 9680 3361

Mobile: 0423 843 917

While we cannot guarantee that we can solve emergency situations, we can be a place for your child to come if they are feeling unsafe.

Safety Week @ Funhouse

Week 6 is Safety Week at Funhouse. Funhouse is updating it’s lockdown procedures so we will practise more than usual to polish them.

In the event of a lockdown, please remind your children of these important messages:

1. Stay Calm 2. Listen to Staff 3. Move indoors, stay away from windows and doors 4. Keep as quiet as possible

In a real emergency situation, staff immediately phone 000 and receive advice from the police as to the most appropriate course of action.

If you are picking your child up while we are doing the drill and they have never done it with us before, please remain until the end, so your child understands the full process.

Notifying Parents of Emergency Situations

In emergency situations e.g. fire, lockdown etc. Funhouse’s first priority is moving children to safety. Families will be notified ASAP; however we will be unable to do this until we have been advised by emergency services that it is safe to do so. In the case of a real emergency, we also advise families not to come to Funhouse until emergency services have deescalated the situation, as it could add stress for all involved.

Handwashing – UV Experiment

In Week 8 of Term 3, Funhouse will be conducting experiments:

“How dirty are our hands, if we don’t wash them properly?”

We will be using special powder and a UV light. If you do not want your child to participate, please let us know.

A group of Funhouse children have been working EXTREMELY hard on the first edition of the Funhouse Funzine – a voice for Funhouse

Children (FUNhouse magaZINE)!

At Funhouse, our children are effective

communicators through play, by interacting with

their peers and Funhouse staff, and we are no

wextending on their interests and skills by

providing a voice for our children that projects to

a wider crowd. With the support of our two

dedicated staff members, Vivian and Maurice, we

now have a group of children who have shown

interest and commitment in producing a

Funhouse Magazine (Funzine). One of the aims of

the magazine is to reach the people who are

involved in their life: other children, families,

staff, teachers and our community.

Our aim is to have the Funzine ready for

distribution in October, for Children’s Week!

Week 7, Term 3 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Week 7 After School Care

The whole Funhouse team are SO proud of Ashrit and Alexander who have worked for years at their craft.

A New Funhouse Initiative

Week 7 of Term 3 will be Sustainability Week at Funhouse.

This involves (among other things)

1. Donation of non-needed items 2. Special activities 3. Lowering our carbon footprint

We would be grateful if families could get involved:

- Pop your jacket on (morning and evening)

- Play our “Do the right thing and put items in the correct bin” game with your child at Funhouse!

- Use reusable containers = less plastic and waste in our landfill/oceans!

Injury Messaging System

Funhouse is trialling a new messaging system for families.

When you use the iPad to sign out, a message may appear on screen.

Currently we are only using the messaging system to inform families if their child has had an injury/accident at Funhouse and there is an accident form in sick bay to sign.

Please take note of any messages that appear on the screen during pick up and ask a supervisor if you are unclear.

Thank you!
