South Alternative Learning Center Spring Edition #3 With the third marking period coming to an end it is imperative that we encourage our students to stay focused so that they can successfully complete the year. This marking period has been an excellent one. We conducted two family nights where students and parents were able to come out and experience our new Peace Education Curriculum. In addition to working through lessons together our family were able to end both nights with a group meditation which is a great way to reduce stress and anxiety. We have been able to celebrate individual student successes by honoring one student each week who has demonstrated academic excellence and conducted themselves in a way that should be commended. Here at the Pathways at Pine Grove we look forward to the continued success of our students. Finally, I want to encourage all of our students, parents, and community partners to come out and participate at our next Family Night. The Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has canceled all K-12 required state testing and the Florida Department of Education will not be assigning school grades for the 2019-2020 school year.

From Mr. Sejeck’s Desk

Dear Pathway at Pine Grove’s families,

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has announced that K-12 schools statewide will remain closed until April 15. In response, Brevard Public Schools will be implementing its instructional continuity plan for students beginning Monday, March 30.

We are glad to inform you that as a proactive approach to the present Covid 19 crisis, Pathways at Pine Grove students completed a survey about their access to electronics and internet services at home before they were dismissed for Spring Break. Students that did not have a computer at home, were able to borrow one of the school’s laptops, so they could maintain the educational continuity.

The district is working hard to solidify plans to follow this statewide order and will continue to provide updates and further information.
