PREPARATIONSand coasters and holder and wipe clean. Mix Saff ron Yellow and Snow White approx. 3:1. Basecoat coasters with this ‘yellow mix’ and Sealer mixed 1:1. Basecoat Coaster holder: with Marigold + Sealer mixed 1:1. Let dry, then sand all pieces again lightly and wipe clean. Basecoat again but using the Saff ron Yellow mix or Marigold alone (no sealer). Let dry. Referring to the photo and patterns, use Foliage Green and the 1/8” check stencil to apply the check pattern to the coast-ers. Shade along the outside edges of these checked areas with Camel. Freehand apply the Bubblegum Pink squiggle lines in the corner areas. Let dry. Using whatever fl ower in the stencil you like and that will fi t into the corner area, stencil in the corner fl owers with Bubblegum Pink. Let all the coasters dry. Transfer basic design lines.

Note: Refer to photo throughout for painting. Transfer pattern lines and details as needed. Some colors will require more than one coat to cover. Let dry between coats and steps. Use the brush size you are most comfortable with for all areas.

PAINTING INSTRUCTIONSFor all coasters: ‘Dot’ the corner fl owers with Whisper-ing Turquoise. Let dry then ‘dot’ again with Snow White.

Coaster #1: Bear and Bee

BEARBasecoat bear with Terra Cotta. Let dry. Transfer pattern line for nose and basecoat with Lamp Black. Using Dark Chocolate, shade in the lines forming the curls in the ears, lines separating the ears from the face and very lightly shade around the nose on the face. Using Lamp Black, ‘dot’ the eyes, line the eyebrows and mouth line. Using Snow White, apply the highlight mark to the top of the nose and place tiny ‘dots’ in the eyes. Use Cinnamon Drop and a Q-tip to apply the cheeks. Using Pumpkin, lightly highlight the tops of his ears.

BEEBasecoat bee body with Saff ron Yel-low. Line the wings using Snow White. Use Cinnamon Drop for his cheek. Use Lamp Black to ‘dot’ the eye and nose; apply the antennae; markings to his body and the ‘dots/dashes’ indicating the fl ight path. Using Burnt Sienna, shade the lower portion of the body and lightly around the side of the head closest to the body.

Coaster #2: Bear with Hat

BEARFollow the same steps for the Bear in Coaster #1, as appropriate, for this bear.

HATBasecoat with Whispering Turquoise. Lightly shade as shown with Sap-phire. Highlight lower edge of hat with Spa Blue.

Coaster #3: BirdhouseBasecoat body of birdhouse with Purple Cow, roof with Grape Juice and pole with Milk Chocolate. Use Shim-mering Silver to apply the scroll ‘hang-ers’. Basecoat heart with Cinnamon Drop. Transfer any remaining pattern details needed. Basecoat birdhouse openings then outline the entire open-ing with Lamp Black. Using Grape Juice, shade the birdhouse next to the roof line, then apply the ‘line’ pattern. Lightly highlight the top of the roof with Purple Cow. Shade the left side of the heart with Napa Red. Place high-light mark on the right side with Snow White. Apply string holding heart with Lamp Black. Shade the pole along the left edge and closest to the birdhouse with Dark Chocolate. Highlight the right side of the pole lightly with Oys-ter Beige.

Coaster #4: Beehive and Bees

BEEHIVEBasecoat beehive with Marigold. Us-ing Dark Chocolate, shade in the lines forming the beehive segments. Apply the opening with Lamp Black.

BEESPaint the bees the same as in Coaster #1.

Coaster #5: Plant, Book, and BirdBasecoat as follows: fl ower pot with Terra Cotta; book with Purple Cow, pages with Snow White; bird with Whispering Turquoise; bird’s beak with Canyon Orange; fl ower stem and leaves with Foliage Green and fl ower with Burnt Orange.

FLOWERShade the fl ower pot with Dark Chocolate. Dry brush highlights to the center areas of the band and body of the fl ower pot with Pumpkin.

BOOKShade in the book details with Grape Juice. Lightly apply lines to signify ‘pages’ with Slate Grey. Apply let-tering with Lamp Black.

BIRD‘Dot’ the eye with Lamp Black; lightly shade in the wing line and along the lower portion of his body with Sap-phire; apply the cheek with Cinnamon Drop and apply ‘line’ in beak with Burnt Sienna.

FLOWERShade the lower fl ower petals with Burnt Sienna and highlight the tops petals with Bright Orange. Flower center is Saff ron Yellow. Apply ‘dots’ along the lower portion of the fl ower center with Burnt Sienna and with Snow White along the top portion of the fl ower center. Using Hauser Medium Green, lightly shade the lower edge of the leaves. Using Lamp Black, apply detail lines to the fl ower petals and loosely outline the leaves.

Coaster #6: Plant, Book, and BeeBasecoat as follows: fl ower pot with Terra Cotta; fl ower leaves and stem with Foliage Green; fl ower with Purple Cow; book with Whispering Turquoise.

BEEBasecoat and paint the bee the same as for coaster #1.

FLOWER POTShade and highlight fl ower pot the same as for coaster #5.

FLOWER LEAVESFlower leaves are the same as in coaster #5.

FLOWERUsing Grape Juice, apply center opening area and the detail stroke lines. Apply highlight mark to center area with Snow White.

BOOKShade in details lightly with Sapphire and apply ‘page’ lines with Slate Grey. Stylized rose is Bubblegum Pink with Grape Juice details. Apply fl ower stem and leaves with Foliage Green. Using Lamp Black, loosely outline the leaves and apply the lettering.

Coaster HolderSponge Burnt Sienna lightly onto the honeycomb stamp and randomly stamp the coaster holder surface until you are happy with the results. Apply as many bees as you would like and paint them as for the bees in coaster #1.

FINISHINGLet dry completely. Ensure any pattern lines remaining are erased. Apply several light coats of Matte Varnish. Enjoy!
