Creating a Spring Capsule Wardrobe from Scratch

!If you are aiming for the top of your profession, it makes sense to invest in your personal image, with a wardrobe to match your role in the organisation. If you don’t work or aren’t on a career path you still want to look and feel your best everyday and make your investment in your wardrobe worthwhile. !Why shouldn’t you feel good about the way you look? What we wear isn’t a fluffy subject, it can have a real effect on our self esteem and how we feel about our day. !A carefully thought out capsule wardrobe will: ! • Make you feel good about yourself – you can dress in

confidence and not have to worry about your outfit for the rest of the day

• Save you time and money – you get maximum cost per wear so making investments makes financial sense

• Demonstrate your professionalism – it can make a real difference to how you are perceived

• Make mornings easier because everything works together and you can put an outfit together in minutes

• You will look your best because every item fits and flatters you

• Get worn! You love every piece so it doesn’t sit at the back of the wardrobe

• Be easy to add in updates each new season !But most women don’t have the time to create the perfect wardrobe for themselves… !So I created the following example of a full Spring Capsule wardrobe to inspire you. !Every piece should be carefully thought out so that it works for your body shape, colouring, personal style and all the roles you play in your life - work, mother, wife etc. We are all different so even if we have the same navy suit as someone else our Capsule Wardrobe will be different because the way we wear it and how we accessorise it gives people a look into our personality. !A capsule wardrobe is never boring because it should reflect who we really are. It can be a very confined number of pieces or a more generous number (that is our personality coming out too). !Use this sample to help you create your own wardrobe but be prepared, it isn’t a five minute job, nor should it be if you want it to be exactly right for you. Typically there will be one or more neutral colours - colours that go with everything and should form the foundations of a capsule wardrobe - and one or more accent colours. These will be chosen to suit your personal colouring and can also be seasonal trend colours available for that season, but again they should suit your colouring. !The colour palette for this example:

Navy (N) Toasted Almond (NS) Cocoa (N) Ivory(N) Coral (AS) Duck Egg (AS) !N= neutral, S= seasonal, A=Accent.
