Then join Friendly House this Spring Break for a delightful day at the Oregon Zoo where we will bear witness to a menagerie of fantastic beasts and amazing artificial habitats! We will have fun learning all about zoology and biology and perhaps even get to chat with zookeepers about how we can be a help to endangered species in our daily lives! CULINARY CHEMISTRY: CHEMISTRY LAB WITH OMSI Do you have an appetite for discovery? Then put on your lab goggles and join Friendly House and special guest instructors from OMSI as we enjoy a day of exploring the scientific properties of food! We will perform experiments on caloric energy and chemical composition while creating new recipes, burning calories in the gym and, of course, taste-testing our culinary creations! SURF’S UP: SWIM DAY WITH TRIP TO MT. SCOTT POOL Come shred some gnar with Friendly House at Mt. Scott Pool where we will be luging down the Giant Slide, swirling around in the “River” and kicking around in the shallow end followed by a hearty snack and fun aquatic-themed activities back at the Crawford Building! “LAIKA” BOSS: FIELD TRIP TO PORTLAND ART MUSEUM If you are even the teeniest bit interested in art or animation, then this Friendly House camp day is an absolute must! We will enjoy a self-guided tour in small groups of the Laika Studios Exhibit (the major animator for most Tim Burton and independent clay-mation films!) as well as doing our own clay manipulation and art pieces back at Friendly House! BLOSSOM FESTIVAL: FIELD TRIP TO PORTLAND GARDENS Come enjoy the serene beauty of Portland’s very own authentic Japanese Gardens and Rose Experiment Gardens! Our 4th–6th graders will experience a special tour of the cherry blossoms, koi ponds, simple structures and zen of the Japanese Gardens while our K–2nd graders swoon over the glorious perfumes of hundreds of species of roses, followed by a romp in the Rose Garden Amphitheater.
