Save theDate!
What: Come and watch the Norfolk Tides take on the Columbus Clippers and enjoy a picnic dinner with your fellow members. Tickets to the game and picnic are on us!
When: Friday July 20th Game starts at 7:15pm
Who: This event is open to all Beach Municipal Federal Credit Union members. Are you a joint owner who is eligible for membership? Open your own account today! All you need is $6.00 to establish your membership account and gain access to all our services.
RSVP: We’ll begin taking reservations in June. Seating is limited so be sure to RSVP early.
They’re safer, more convenient, save resources…and they’re FREE with your Virtual Branch account!
Safer ~ Fraud and identity theft often begin when a sensitive piece of physical mail, like a statement or bill, is stolen from an unlocked home mailbox. With eStatements, you’ll receive your account statements online and reduce receiving your sensitive financial information in an unsecure mailbox.
Convenient ~ By viewing your statements on your computer, you’ll receive your eState-ment days faster than with traditional mail statements and have access to all your informa-tion at the click of your mouse. In addition, your eStatements are archived for 6 months beginning the moment you enroll. Then you can save, send, copy or print them; the choice is yours!
Save Resources ~ Not only do eStatements help the planet, but they can put money in your pocket. The cost associated with processing, generating, and mailing a statement every month or quarter to every member is fairly large. When members use eStatements, we’re able to cut those costs by eliminating extra paper and postage. Those savings can be passed on to you in the form of higher dividends, lower loan rates, fewer fees and greater accessibility.
Sign up today by logging on to your Virtual Branch account and clicking the eStatements link. Don’t yet have a Virtual Branch account? Contact a Member Services Coordinator
and begin taking advantage of this no-fee service.
Foreign Debit Card Transactions Blocked
Due to an increase in fraudulent
activity, all foreign Debit Card
transactions were blocked as of
Friday, February 9, 2007. Therefore,
you are no longer able to use your
Debit Card at ATMs or stores outside
of the United States.
If you are traveling to another country
and would like to use your card, please
contact the debit card department at
757.416.6161 prior to your trip. A
temporary release can be applied to your card and then re-instated on a pre-selected date.
For your convenience Beach Municipal also offers single signature Travelers Checks at no charge.
This block only applies to Debit Cards. You may still use your Beach Municipal Federal Credit
Union VISA or MasterCard credit card when making purchases in foreign countries. Don’t have a
Beach Municipal VISA or MasterCard? Contact a loan officer or apply online and take advantage
of our PlusOne Rewards program!
Help Protect Yourself
NEVER provide any personal information,
including your PIN or the security code on the
back of your card, to anyone who calls or emails
you requesting this information. You should also

Are You a Member or a Joint Owner?
As a member of Beach Municipal,
you can designate anyone as a joint
owner of your account. Joint owner-
ship, however, is not the same
as membership. Joint owners can
make deposits or withdrawals from
the joint account. They may have
ATM or Debit Cards; however, they
are not an actual member and do
not enjoy the same benefits as legal
members.
This is not a Beach Municipal
policy but an actual government
regulation. Per the National Credit
Union Administration (NCUA),
only those people with their own
accounts may apply for loans, have
a Beach Municipal credit card, vote
during elections and enjoy all the
other benefits of membership.
Family Membership
When you open your account, it is
the ideal time to open accounts for
your eligible family members. Once
your family members have joined,
their family members also become
eligible. Plus, family members
can retain their Beach Municipal
membership even in the event your
account is closed.
Preserving Your
Membership
Once you’ve joined Beach
Municipal Federal Credit Union,
you are entitled to use the services
of your credit union for life. You can
leave your employer, move, retire,
and get married. Your membership
is a foundation which can last a
lifetime. Once a member, always
a member!

Are You Who They Say You Are?Beach Municipal encourages you to review your credit report every year to make sure there haven’t been any new credit cards or other accounts issued to someone other than yourself. Identity Theft is a growing problem and staying current with your credit report is one way to protect yourself.
You can request a FREE copy of your credit report from each of the three main credit reporting agencies through www.annualcreditreport.com. You may request all three credit reports at once or spread out your requests during the year.
A credit report contains information on where you live, how you pay your bills, and whether you’ve been sued, arrested or filed for bankruptcy. Nationwide consumer reporting companies sell the information in your report to creditors, insurers, employers and other businesses that use it to evaluate your applications for credit, insurance, employment or renting a home. For more information on free credit reports, visit the Federal Trade Commission’s website at www.ftc.gov. Click on “For Consumers,” then “Credit” to access the information.
Your Best Deal Starts Right HereReady to go shopping for your next vehicle? Start with the most important option – a
pre-approved auto loan from Beach Municipal Federal Credit Union. With pre-approval,
you’ll have the negotiating advantage of a cash buyer:
1. You’ll know exactly how much you can spend and won’t be pressured into buying “more
car” than you can afford.
2. You’ll waste no time discussing dealer financing. Choose your vehicle, sign the papers
and enjoy the drive home.
3. You’ll deal with someone you know and trust. Beach Municipal puts your needs first,
offering the best rates and terms possible.
4. You’ll avoid unexpected “surprises.” With credit union financing, you’ll know exactly
what your loan costs and never have to worry about hidden fees.
5. You’ll enjoy the convenience of automatic loan payments with regular transfers from your
account or payroll deductions from your paycheck. No checks to write and no hassle.
6. You’ll save money on protecting your investment. Beach Municipal carries GAP Plus and Mechanical Repair Coverage at lower costs than many dealerships, giving you the same
extended warranty coverage for less money.
Get pre-approved today and put the power of credit union financing behind you!
When it Comes to Debt, How Much is Too Much?Whether you’re preparing to buy a house, looking to invest or want to make sure you’ll have
enough for retirement, it’s important to have a good understanding of how your debt affects
your financial situation. Too much debt can prevent you from qualifying for loans or even
getting a job. So do you know how much is too much?
Calculating debt-to-income ratio is one of the most common means for evaluating your debt.
A debt-to-income ratio is a measure of financial stability calculated by dividing monthly
minimum debt payments by monthly gross income. Typically, the lower your ratio, the better
handle you have on debt.
Calculate your debt-to-income ratio:
Monthly mortgage or rent ............................... ___________
Minimum monthly credit card payments ............ ___________
Monthly car loan payments ............................. ___________
Other loan payments ..................................... ___________
Total monthly debt payments .......................... ___________
Monthly gross salary ...................................... ___________
Other monthly income ................................... ___________
Total monthly income .................................... ___________
Debt divided by income = ............................. ___________ % ratio
Note: Not all payments count as debt payments. For example, things like utilities
or phone bills do not count.
How did you do?n 36% or less: This is an ideal debt load to carry for most people. Lenders will see you as a
good risk because you’re able to control your spending in relation to your income.
n 37% to 42%: Not bad, but be diligent. You may still be getting lots of credit card offers
in the mail, but at this level, qualifying for a loan may be more difficult. Begin paying
down your debts now before they get out of hand. If something drastic were to happen or
you were suddenly faced with a large, unexpected expense, things could quickly spiral
out of control.
n 43% to 49%: Take immediate action. Your debt ratio is high and financial difficulties are
on the horizon.
n 50% or more: You need to drastically reduce your debt before it becomes a life-altering
situation. Consider seeking professional advice to get this number down quickly.
